Ordinarily I'd say Firefox is "safer" than IE in respect to spyware stuff most people get through ActiveX and popups. Stardock trialware is featured on download.com. Wasn't it download.com that for a time had the option of using their download manager software? I've never used it and don't see it on the site now, but was dubious about it. The spyware makers are getting very sneaky (hiring trojan makers to better foist their crud on people's PC's) and one has to be careful. Fo

A goodly portion of spyware is picked up browsing with IE (or an IE shell browser) with low security settings. Don't allow ActiveX and scripting on all sites, only really trusted sites. When you enable ActiveX controls (even some marked as "safe") to download and run scripts you are literally allowing programs to quietly download to your computer without your knowing it or knowing what they are or what they might do. AVG is lighter in resources, but not as good in over all detection as McAfee or Kaspersky. Although years ago I wouldn't touch McAfee with a barge pole. It's better now, although both McAfee and Norton borg PC's. (I use NOD32 for an AV and BOClean for trojans.) [Message Edited]

Are the lines actually moving or just wavy looking but static? I recently saw some real weird stuff right before my monitor died. So that's one possibility as carolelee mentioned. The best way to "light a fire" under others in this field IMO is to lead by example and provide alternative styles in various works. Since it appears you have skills why not give it a try? Or collaborate with a willing skinner if one is interested. (Many do help others here, especially if someone has an interesting project.)
