I can't answer your first two questions, but if you're looking for another "4x" game, I'd say buy Sins of a Solar Empire. I think it'll have a different enough of a feel (heck, it's real-time!) that, even after Elemental is released, you'll still be interested in playing it. I haven't played it as much as I should, but that's because every time I start playing, I lose track of time.
How is the AI in Dominions 3? The one for Dom I

Does charisma serve any purpose for champions? Hiring other cheaper champions? In other words probably not worth putting points into? Same for your sovereign. It doesn't seem like, at least for the sovereign, worth it to increase charisma. Hiring champions cheaper is ok, but doesn't help later on. So thoughts?
To make offspring more valuable how about letting them start with 1 essence and take out "imbue essence" from spells?
I completely agree. I found it to be rather irritating when my caravans would be destroyed (their location, be it in my own lands or not is irrelevant imo) by roaming creatures with a threat rating of only 5...To be able to assign a patrol to go with the caravans would be a nifty little feature, and perhaps a screen to show which caravans were destroyed. I've had several different routes leading to one of my larger cities, and some of the roads wer
It'd be nice if the combat animations were faster. I cast a spell and the animation sequence follows, but there is a delay until I can click something else again. The various elemental giants walk from square to square too slowly. Arrows fly way too slowly(and 60% of the time they're way off target even if they do damage to the target). Also it would be nice to have something like a "pass turn" button for an individual unit.
Memory fail. Only thing odd was a caravan after it had established a route and was moving back and forth by itself got attatche to another army and was moving with it. I realized after a battle it was in the group. It might have been the same space when I teleported the group. The memory fail happened after I clicked on the caravan after it was out of the group and moving towards, what I assume, was one of the cities in the trade route.
King Arthur: the Roleplaying Game had some great flavor like some of this stuff, in particular for the quest paths. There were two spectrums (Tyrant/Hero and Old Faith/Christianity), and the various quests launched text-only pick-a-path adventure quests, often with 10+ stages. Different choices you made would affect your standing on the spectrums.
Too bad it was so buggy and the developers laughed and counted thei
Will there be more techs in the tech tree in final release? It seems I finish most techs fairly quickly. On a medium map I'll have three cities and most of the techs finished. I realize the game's more about less cities, but even so its too fast I think. So I'm wondering if the devs have mentioned(that i've missed) anything about more techs being in the final version? I believe there will be more spells and abilities. I remember reading that.
After i completed the quest to get the flute the message choice screen for that quest(to attack or not attack to get the flute) comes up after every battle. As well most of the screen is blacked out and the only way out is to press escape a few times. I tried to reload after i saved to see if that would fix it, but the game crashed. Are we supposed to not be able to lower land until its right before sea level? Is there a way to maybe "flood" land so a city without ocean access can gain it?
When a city becomes a metropolis isn't it supposed to gain more space "points" for building things? I had one become a metropolis and it did not.
I moved a fortified group onto a quest spot to recieve a spell book. Afterwards I was able to move a caravan. Then the turn would not end. I tried reloading, exiting the game and reloading, and it did not work. When I reloaded infact I tried moving a different unit with movement points and it would not move except out of its city. I do not have the right debug.err file since I tried to restart, but I do have the saved game. Savegame:<a href="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8971392/Willnotproc
Sovereigns' maximum allowed number of enchantments should be based on intelligence, not essence. Particularly because you give away your sovereign's essence to heroes. Also, heroes should be allowed to use city enchantments. If not then their spell casting should be limited to combat and they should have their mana refilled after combat. If the latter is the case most heroes should also start out with much less intelligence.

I am unable to research anything. I mean I have the research points and it goes through the process, but all of the tech trees have no techs in them. Research becomes progessively more time consuming and no pop up advance choice occurs. I think I recieved a research point before i created a city or recieved some ancient knowledge before founding an initial city. Maybe this caused it? Debug.err: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8971392/d
