Also tight clusters turns out to be just lots of stars close together more often than clusters of stars separated by empty space. Basically its like a pangea map with a few islands. Not always, but it seems to be happening much more consistently than clusters separated. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning I guess.

You are correct. I think it also works to choose a type of galaxy. Start that. If its the same map then start a new map with a different galaxy shape. Then go back to the main menu and start the original galaxy you wanted as a new map. I haven't recreated the half galaxy map yet so that's a good sign.
My initial hospital raises pop by 2, while a farm does +1. Why would you ever build a farm?
Its 11pm, I should be getting ready for bed. Good thing the game crashed, though since i'm a bit zoned out I forgot what happened just before crash. Anyway. autosave, debug, dxdiag here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8971392/Crashtodesktop.zip
Wanted to add, it seems Humans and their Sol system start at the same spot on every large map. Is that working properly or no? I'd like to be able to have the spawn of the system be possible all over the map.
I've tried creating a large, occasional everything, tight clusters galaxy 4 times. Each time the stars are clustered on the right half of the map. The left half is empty of stars. As well it appears that each star is in the same exact position or very close to it. Is this working properly? Or hasn't been worked on too much yet? Figured i'd mention it.
The trade route graphic has gone from a small thin line to large white shapes. Exited the game and reloaded twice. Also tried loading the most recent autosave. Nothing changed. Save game, debug, dxdiag zipped here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8971392/Traderoutegraphicsbug.zip

I clicked end turn, game had me on wait as usual. My survey ship investigates an anomaly that has space pirates. I click yes to engage. Then I am asked if I want to colonize a planet. I clicked yes. The nothing happens. The 'turn' button has me waiting still. I tried to save the game, but am told I could not because movements/etc. were still being resolved. I was able to double click a planet and bring up the hex/management screen. I was unable to move the colony ship or surveyor. Thi
In the diplomacy screen I am trying to create an open borders agreement. However it is only available, in various attempts at different points through the game, on my side of the diplomacy screen. I assume this means I am opening borders to them, but not to me? Or is it just how it is displayed, but not implemented?
I'd like to request/suggest the noise the game makes when you click on things to be changed to a softer sound. The current sound is harsh, similar to a millisecond of static from a speaker.
The red icon indicates the bonus for that hex. The terrain desscription (desolate) has no significance that I am aware of. I don't recall the exact bonus given by the red icon but I think it is a military multiplier +2 or 3 and perhaps a secondary bonus for a different type of building. If you look at the box on the upper right of the screen when the hex is hi-lighted as it is in your picture, it will describe the purpose of t
Trying my first game of GCIII beta. I colonized my first planet. One of the hexes has a modifier called 'Wasteland' The tool tip does not seem to hint at what bonuses it provides. I thought maybe research, as in testing weapons, but its red and black. Anyone know what/how it modifies the hex? There does not seem to be a mention of it in the wiki or in the forums. Lots of use of the word, but not pertaining to a hex modifier. <img src="http://i1032.photobucket.co

Amused. The xcomacadamy link from the firaxis homepage is rather amusing. http://www.xcomacademy.com/ No, no virus or whatever. Just really inane that its a link from firaxis.
Hmmm. Never had that happen. I suggest doing a verify of the game files in Steam. Otherwise it may be some kind of save game corruption. Did you try messing around with the Armor Deco options in the customization screen?
I tried the verification to no avail. Yeah tried the armor deco options too. : / I hope its not a save game corruption, I have a lot of saves and going back to a good one would be too hard to figure out. Ty
Posted this to the xcom forums, but I thought I'd post it here too because users in this forum seem to know their stuff and are actively participating in these forums. Anyway: "When choosing my team before a mission I usually remove all current team members and start with all slots empty. I click 'make items available' and then start choosing my team members. Ever since I created the first level of carapace armor (only <span class="highligh
Thanks everyone for your input.
So I bought Xcom complete during the steam sale. I'm wondering, should I play through Xcom The Unknown first or play with the stand alone add on Enemy Within? Story differences matter? New weapons/enemies in the add-on hard to understand without playing the basic game? Etc. Thanks much.
I had to stop playing because of the game slowing down. Not because of graphics issues, but because AI was taking so long each turn to choose its moves. Unplayable...well unless you want to wait 3 minutes between each turn.
Go vote now!: Warlock II, Dominions 4, and LE:FH are in one block. Well and Civ5, but who cares about that. ;)
Wasteland 2 is on sale for 33% off...early access. So its now down to $40, for early access. Disappointment. : / I believe its going to be 30 bucks when it comes out. I'll buy it then. Alas.

Quoting Island Dog, reply 5 The Steam Wallet can be a good thing. I'll drop $5 or $10 here and there, so it'll add up and I'll use that for a sale.
Right, but you don't gain interest on that correct

Complete X-com for 16.49. I thought about Day Z, but its an MMO and i really never enjoyed them in the end. The idea is stellar, its just that it involves playing with human beings which exemplify the saying "everyone's an asshole." :) My wish list: Dead State Wasteland 2 Endless Legend Godus Arcane Worlds The Forest Murdered: Soul Suspect DayZ(if it becomes much cheaper than 15% off)
