lantzer if you have a problem it might be better to just start a new thread and explain your problem calmly, you are not helping jon1doc at all with his problem by ranting like this... ho and by the way the game works like a charm here : 4GB XP64 8800GTS512 with game settings of : 1280x1024 4xMSAA and immense map size TA 1.96 (sorry jon1doc, I don't mean to brag about anything, just trying to replace the discussion on its tracks ....
not colourfull boxes
actually quite a few people complained about not having a Box for TA at some point. [e digicons]^_^'[/e]
Also if updating drivers is not enough to make it run, you might want to consider that any driver installation tend to leave some "left-overs" in the registry or files or whatever .... Most of the time, the procedures below are not necessary but since you told us that you just upgraded your graphic card... you might want to : -either use driver cleaner to clean your system (the free version, the paid one may be nice but it's not necessary as far as I know)&nb
From what I understood SDC is a very patched up application, which requires too much work for several new applications or updates released... Impulse is a project rewritten from scratch... of course it's actually too young, but its scope is well beyond what SDC could ever achieve(still from what I understood) Also Virus Scanners are not GODS yeah it's true ! they are VERY VERY FAR from being perfect
before reinstalling I would check out if DA 2.0 works and if DL works too better to check it out now before realizing that the problem lies elsewhere, even if I doubt it ...
is this with 2.0 ?
years away is vague because it's meant to be vague... that means they don't know for sure I'll expect more news when elemental AND galciv 3 are out and running and probably means more than 3 years at the very least
don't be afraid by people who have problems on the forums most people don't go out crying to everyone on the forums : "ho it works on my computer" so the most you hear about are problems ... the game works like a charm here, and being out there helping people, I rarely stumble upon unsolvable problems.
ho ok [e digicons]^_^[/e] could you post a "debug.err" then? it should be located around "My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor" it might help us help you ;)
there's a check box in the ship ugrade screen to "upgrade all ships of the same type" or something close to it.
well maybe you could try changing your desktop resolution to the resolution you want to run galciv2 at, just before launching the game.
1:not cancelled 2: more or less yes for more information I suggest to look at this and download the document https://forums.galciv2.com/?aid=327434#comments you could also look here : http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=20916 which is a link directly taken from here :
Hello, wasn't there a Code Block without an actual language to be specified before ? I find the code blocks quite nice for some things which are not listed here such as : autohotkey scripts, registry information... and more that I don't remember anymore... just in case to prevent some characters to be taken as other forum tags... the thing is that now we have to choose between different programming languages whereas I seem to remember there was a "genera
you're not the only this happened rest assured ... I think the devs are pulling their heads off to fix those issues [e digicons]X|[/e] Anyway... I wonder if the culprit of the problem is the fact that DA & TA path registry keys are relative instead of absolute ... for DA for example
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Stardock\Drengin.net\GalCiv2\DarkAvatar] "Exe"="DarkAvatar\\DALaunch.exe"
as
I don't see where you see it's in french : http://laptopvideo2go.com/drivers "station drivers" is in french though, and since they are noted as multilanguage it shouldn't be a problem
I've been following this post, hoping someone would add to it, but no one has in the last week. The updating of the the Dark Whatever Game seems to have corrupted all of my Gal Civ games as well. I can't even reinstall the first two games off my "store purchased" CD. Have also tried reinstalling through Impulse w/ no luck... Any suggestions?
You can't reinstall the games from CDs ? o_O Did you uninstal
your custom race disappearing seems strange since updating/uninstalling/reinstalling the games shouldn't erase your personnal data ... but I don't have a clue as to what may have happened though you may want to search your computer for : "*.customracexml" files... second issue, could you post your "debug.err" file located somewhere like "my documents\my games\gc2darkavatar", this would allow us to be better able to help you.
Are you using Stardock TotalGaming.Net application or Impulse? Reason I ask is: I couldn't update with the TGDN application (through which I originally bought these games) but when I downloaded, installed and ran Impulse, the updates worked.

I've got a big problem with Galactic Civilizations and Impulse

Speakign of which...any chance of seperating campaign and non-campaign saves?
I wouldn't count on it since 2.0 is the last content update for galciv2 (with the exception of 2.0 bug fixing I guess) cheat codes are here : https://www.galciv.wikia.com/wiki/Cheats_and_keyboard_shortcuts
just so you know galciv videos are a specific format which can be played back by bink video player I don't think it's linked to any codec at all and all version of galciv got a "binkw32.dll" library to read them
this thread answer your question about the updates : https://forums.stardock.com/329371 (sticky from the main galciv2 forum) about the crashes, could you post your "debug.err" file which should be located in ".\My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor" or something like that depending on your OS also any additional details (like error messages or at which point exactly the game crash and so on) would be welcome for us to be better able to help you
if you know little in linux then I would advise to give up on trying to make it work though if you have the patience and will to get a few days of trial error and searching through the internet for clues then go for it ! google is your friend and "wine galciv2" returns a few interesting results already http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=4493
you can also win by diplomacy and I agree with durhamTiger on that one given your post I'll say this game is for you I got the whole game + both expansions and gigantic or even immense galaxies are probably the setup you're looking for there's even buildings which allow to raise your military in the view of your opponents to keep them at peace and you can also buy wars between AIs so that they are too busy to think about you ;) .... <
is this with DL, DA or TA ?
https://www.galciv.wikia.com/wiki/Keyboard_shortcuts is the way to go ;)
