KI ??? anyway it's already known that if you give ships to an AI it doesn't always use them, moreso if they are far away from its territory/planets

although not practical you could try to use a "virtual desktop" with a bigger size (which would make you scroll around its surface) then launch galciv2 in a window not really practical though, and not even sure that works fine [e digicons]^_^'[/e]
I tried galciv1 and was not fond of it, I bought galciv2 if your computer is not 10 years old I would say go for galciv2 [e digicons]:grin:[/e]
could you post a debug.err ? to help us help you ;) should be located around :"My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor"
what moosetek13 said, you still should be able to finish your game in DL, if you did not update it (galciv2 doesn't like version changes on a current savegame), and it's not possible to transfer it to DA...
I would first and foremost update the game to the latest version but that might not fix anything in your case maybe you could try to update your nvidia graphic drivers or check out that the game resolution is the same as your desktop
you could maybe try to use the same resolution as your desktop first, that is : 1280 x 800 if the resolution isn't selectable ingame you should be able to modify it in the "prefs.ini" file located somewhere around ".\My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor" where you should replace this :
DisplayWidth=1024 DisplayHeight=768
with this
DisplayWidth=1280 DisplayHeight=800[/code
the current galciv2 autopilots work like this : -turn 1 moment 1 you select a ship without orders -turn 1 moment 2 you tell it to go to a place far, far away -turn 1 moment 3 since you just told the ship to go somewhere, the ship moves immediately -end of turn 1 you click the end of turn button, nothing special happens -turn 2 nothing happens, you give no additional orders to that ship -end of turn 2 the ship moves along its path -turn 3
Thanks to wayne6707 for its base findings and to wayne6707, uniquelogin and phorteetoo for their quick testing original thread : https://forums.stardock.com/331070 other threads : https://forums.stardock.com/332689 https://forums.stardock.com/332635 https://forums.stardock.com/331740 https://forums.stardock.com/333061
I made this thread, in the hopes to get it stickied and so that it's clearer based on recent findings. And also maybe kryo could transmit that info to stardock developpers It seems a handful of problems are linked to a lacking registry setting since galciv2 Endless Universe 2.x was put online. The culprit is simply a missing language setting. Symptoms : -Tutorials, Campaigns buttons grayed out in Dread Lords and Dark Avat
When you think of it, it seems rather "logical". Stardock ran into issues with localization for galciv2 EU when they put it up on impulse. In the process, it seems stardock broke the standard english install process. I'll try to do a new thread and get it stickied to make it easier to find.
With those informations, I was able to reproduce the error from a working system it seems the language registry setting might be missing or incorrect, it holds the value "English" in my system and if blanked, just show the exact same symptoms here's a way to check this out if you wish so:
-Click on Start, Run, then type "regedit.exe" and click OK -on windows XP 32bits, Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Dren
this post is an error and can be deleted
what kind of crash ? any message ? are they random ? or is it always at the same point ? ....
I tried the full installer, but it didn't make a difference, it still crashes at the start. I guess I will have to wait for a new version to be able to get the 2.x patch. (Sigh!)
I don't know what's your error and backstory exactly but you might want to post in these forums : https://forums.stardock.com/forum/457 or emal : so that t
did you watch the tutorial videos from the main menu, they could help I guess otherwise you end your turn when you think you finished what you had to do on this turn ... pressing "Tab" will go around ships which have left over moves ... galciv.wikia.com holds some useful strategies/tips
2.0 brings in support for DL & DA campaigns in the TA engine, though I don't know what to answer to you given the current state of things... https://forums.stardock.com/331773
here is your answer : https://forums.stardock.com/331773 basically it seems kalypso was expected to handle support for this edition of the game... and stardock is actually working on this problem...
It does seem like a bit of a strategic error to have forced the Sins and GC2 communities over to Impulse before the platform was reasonably stable and bug-free. The comparisons with the proven, stable SDC platform are inevitable and invariably unfavorable.
sure I agree, but when you look at stardock, they need to go on and improve impulse and they don't have the time & money necessary to upgrade SDC which would just go to waste
you mean that it doesn't value 998 ip ? neither 1000 ip? and 999 is the way to go ? is this repeatable in every game ? I always thought it was a shame that they disabled ip buy/sell, I often did buy ip back in the DL days before it was patched in some games to ensure me a win in UP
because 2.0 is basically a freebie, sort of a bonus only available to impulse because SDC is a heavily patched application which would require additional updates to support the 2.0 update and all the new galciv2 versions (UL, EU ...) stardock team is also encouraging players to contact support/forums for sorting out their problems with impulse I guess it could be understood as a way to encourage players to move to impulse from SDC, since S
as far as my experience goes, the map editor is borked ...
what kind of autopilot are you using ? what do you mean by manually ? you can use the "tab" key to find the next ship with moves left.
I started a game, just above normal difficulty (after all these games really dont have the right grip of how hard things are. the AI are never that hard to outwit and im quick enough if they do catch me). I played for about half an hour. I went to the main menu. And started another game, with the difficulty right at the bottom.
hahaha, funny I think this happened to me too [e digicons]:grin:[/e]
i just have the plain: GalCiv II Dread Lords. And I have none of the expansions as of yet.
