I think stardock would just need to publish themselves in europe... it's not the first time I hear about such problems with localized versions ... that's one of the reasons why being french I still prefer to buy original english games (the other reason being the bad translations/voices in some cases...)

in gigantic and above with abundant habitable planets, the sheer size of the map plus the number of worlds, makes for a very long colony rush like around 2 years and more. my advice in this setup is that you should plan in the long run, no point in losing money by rush buying, you'll gain an advantage in the first few month but then you'll run out of cash and will fall behind while you recover ... you have to use your money efficiently... on the other hand a sm

if what kellmar said is true you might want to read this thread : https://forums.stardock.com/331306
I don't even understand why one would want to play with the old DL/DA engines but it doesn't matter something struck me, you're using FSAA with a geforce 6200 ???[e digicons]:O[/e] geforce 6200 is quite a very low end card, which often uses "turbocache", which is just a way of saying/hiding that it sometimes expand graphics memory with main memory, so... did you try disabling that ? (I mean FSAA) I would also try to play around with compatibility settings in the graphic
A good example is the Mind Control Centre. The description said it would make planets succumb to your influence much faster but when you build it, you'll find it is in fact harder to convert them. A good soul skimmed through the files and shared with us that it really provided a significant economy bonus.
the Mind Control Center is fixed in TA https://forums.stardock.com/329678
if you're familiar with registry editing you might want to check the path there maybe ... ( somewhere around HKLM\Software\Stardock\Drengin.net\Galciv2\Twilight )

I can see what you mean, though I didn't have any problem if you start a sandbox game with low difficulty you won't have any troubles with just the basics of video tutorials and you will learn as you play it's not THAT hard really, "X3 reunion" on the other hand has a way steeper learning curve for example ... at that point I would not expect any more additional content for galciv2 ... maybe galciv3 or elemental ... <
I see what you both mean, these are good arguments Jonnan001 => that's right with a +2 speed bonus you further reduce the % difference in speed between ships Sole Soul => I theorically agree IF you setup manually your surveyors to start surveying in different locations as I know it, (even with few numbers of survey ships) a lot of times, I get a lot of survey ships going to exactly the same sector(even if they are not in the same starting sector ...), not very ef

lol I just pump out genuinely fast cargo ship surveyors [e digicons][/e] I prefer them fast in immense/gigantic map sizes, otherwise since the automatic survey engine isn't very good, you end up with ships that take way too much turn to get to their destination ... and other races flagship might just survey one or another in that time ...

the "danger will robinson no stars" bit reminded me something that I could not pinpoint anymore so I searched for it and found this: https://forums.stardock.com/143305 you might want to check out what kryo is saying, namely that the "start in" path for DL/DA shortcuts is correct (gc2darkavatar.exe and galciv2.exe should be in the respective "start in" folders) mind you, maybe that got nothing to do with your problem [e digicons]^_^'[/e]

the major problem I think with influence is that even if you get x12 or x24 ratio on a planet, it won't flip any faster than an x4 planet... (not sure, but it's what I remembered from the DL days ...)

Having (moderatly successfully) modded range, I can tell you that the whole range system seems quite borked to me. [e digicons]:\[/e] My purpose was to reduce range so that your initial ships and first ships you build just can't reach the whole galaxy in an immense/gigantic galaxy size. But it seems there's quite a few hidden modifiers (like map size) and minimum/maximum range, plus sort of a ... minimum interval... That is if there's not enough difference between two range characte
