But there goes the raison d'être for half of the people commenting on political websites across the world.
Yeah, good point - and there's a reason most forums keep politics threads separate from the respectable people[e digicons]:D

Meth - seriously, dude....you really gotta quit putting words in people's mouths. I'm not attacking you, your feelings or your comments. I'm really not. I've been offering a counterpoint of my own opinions on the matter - just like you're asking us to let you do. Minecraft and Star Citizen were given as an example of cases where non-steam integration worked when one was a completely different situation, and the other isn't out yet. It'

Especially that part where I said that I understand your concerns and see how they could come to pass.
It's not as impressive, in my humble opinion, as a properly constructed (and somewhat realistic) fleet.
This Like you, I eventually get to cap ships or nothing by the end. Some times, I'd build smaller ships just so the battle would look cool.
Make certain component only available of ships of a certain class or bigger
So much this as well. I'd love this.
A big +1 for - I assume - Brad, who will someday wake up to find GCIV entirely written by the AI.
I caught that same gem while reading the FAQ and forwarded it to a few friends. Stardock's AI has always been scary -good over the years, and I know it's Brad's baby...if he has made a learning computer fueled by crowd-sourcing, I'm a little frightened.
If the game requires steam running in order to function it directly violates Stardock's own "Gamer's Bill of Rights" which states: "Gamers shall have the right to demand that download managers and updaters not force themselves to run or be forced to load in order to play a game."
Sometimes I wonder if Brad wishes he'd never written that thing. The only references I ever see to it these days a

You've obviously never worked in software development and had to present a pre-alpha feature list. ;) Seriously, though, I was just saying that my needs are few in regards to the tech tree. I have been super burned on pre-orders over the last few years across the board (Not just Stardock) to the point where I said I wouldn't pre-order another game....except GalCiv III. Now that it's happening, I grabbed the Elite package (despite the fact that there's no badge over there to the left yet...) and am excited. Elemental still gives me a few fears - but Stardock did make good on that with all of the free DLC later for early adopters* &nbs
They haven't given a release date yet. They did however state the Alpha would be around the first of the year (2014) with the beta soon to follow. So we can estimate that the Alpha will last a couple months, the Beta a couple more months. Assuming the Beta does't drag on I would assume the release would be late Spring to early Summer (2014).
