Any mods that are not recognized by Stardock will eventually cause the game to to score on the Metaverse, so the part concerning keeping the scores off of the list is a fairly simple matter. Hacking the save game is another matter enitrely. I know how to do some minor things, but I don't have any notes put together or anything so others could do so. ~SDC~

'So when the value reads NA, am I wrong to kill the route and send another freighter in to restablish it? The new freighter immediately displays value on the route, but I have yet to see a NA turn back into a real value. I had assumed freighters just wear out with use. If I ignore it, it will make revenue again?' If it reads NA, that means either that the route isn't estabilshed yet (that is, the initial freighter hasn't arrived at it'd destination to create the route), or that the trad

'Ability - Adds 10% to the that ability for the Civ. Should be one of the following values in double quotes. (list might not be complete)' Any ability that will display on the Stats screen can be used, AFAIK. The full list is in a descriptor table somewhere in English.str. 'Some techs have a value for AI not sure how this works do not use at the moment.' Any tech without an AI value will not be recognized by the AI. I'm not sure exactly what it means, but my guess wo

You could create a 'black-hole' sector, but if the AI realizes what's happening, they could build their own starbases at the edge of the sector to increase their ships' speeds. Likewise on your end if the AI managed to build up a -15 speed in a sector. ~SDC~

'"Actually, they only know where the yellow stars are. They basically have the effect of Stellar Cartography from the start of the game." OK, fine, if you want to be technical about it. Since most of the good planets are around yellow stars, they know where MOST of the good planets are. Better?' The main point is that they don't know were _good_ planets are, just _average or better_. They still derive a time advantage from it, because they aren't chancing finding a system wi

'Thanks Arcturus: So with EventType, it's 0 or 1? (two options?)' I'm not sure. I think that was the case, but it may have a scale of some sort now given the note in 1.01a that 'some events occure later.' 'So is it possible to Skew/Cheat by making events/anomolies in you Favor?' Yes and no. Any changes you make apply to the AI as well, and the stated plan is that any modified files that haven't been approved by Stardock will eventually make scores sent in to

The metaverse still keeps track of scores that are sent, even if it can't identify who sent them at the time. That may be what he's referring to. It's been suggested that GalCiv should track scores that couldn't be sent in for one reason or another, but I don't know if that actually happens or not. ~SDC~

'And like Arturus suggested a morale resource produces ridiculous amounts of morale...its like a giant space opium plant or something.' Could be worse. During the beta, when resources were first introduced, the morale resource also improved Planet Quality. I had five of those things in one game. +450% planet quality, plus the terraforming improvements (which at the time were a total of +70%) and events. You don't want to see the kind of morale problems that come up with a extremely

'0-Victory should not need to be counted separately in a good scoring settings since winning only works of you have a high score. You won't win a cultural victory if you aren't the biggest anyway' A diplomatic victory can be totally irrelevant to your stats (I've actually accomplished this while only being 5th before), and cultural victory can come from someone that's not otherwise one of the top empires. ~SDC~

'+300 to productions' There is a point of diminishing returns on production bonuses, based on the individual planet's class. Most of the others aren't as big of a bonus as they seem, with the exception of the attack bonuses. +500% economy is still usually only about 150bc/turn, before taking into account graft/crime, if applicable. ~SDC~

'(keep in mind, the AI already knows where all the good planets in the galaxy are... that's part of the game's backstory).' Actually, they only know where the yellow stars are. They basically have the effect of Stellar Cartography from the start of the game. That said, it's still a big aid in finding good planets when every system you check will have class 14s or above. And that is the only special advantage the AI has except on the very highest intelligence setting.

'You just remember this when stardock decides to stop working on GalCiv.' Everything winds down eventually. Stellar Frontier has been around for six years. Most games are lost to cheaters within _months_. I'd say that says alot for Stardock's commitment that it took nearly four to five years for the bottom to drop out of SF. ~SDC~

I don;t have these mapped out yet, but most of them are already used by existing events, so it shouldn't take too long to hunt them down. 'surther this thread is not about ridding the game of events or making it so they dont make the game more difficult. it's about finding a way to make them not completely end your game. As russell said.. how are we supposed to 'adapt' to an enemy with dreadnaughts when we have battleaxes?' Something that may help (with all events like this): No AI ever starts with ships except for the major races on the first turn. If you can see them, you can always invade on the first turn after the

'i think i got the update...finally....it downloaded a file that was 1.03MB....but, the exe file still says 1.0.0.1' The galciv.exe file does not have an entry for the Windows executable version property. That '1.0.0.1' is a default string that Windows returns if it finds a null, or no version field at all. ~SDC~
