I'll be there Saturday.

My "SINS" time is usually pretty limited because my wife has taken over the computer that can run it. [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e] That pretty much leaves single player, but if we can schedule a time I can make it.
What is this Saturday's schedule 4 or 9 pm? I'll make an effort to be online.
Don't let your cat jump up on the keyboard and shut down the computer, don't ask me how I know [e digicons]:-"[/e] . Don't ignore your economy. SINS is like any strategy game. Economy is the key. A strong economy allows a strong fleet and research base.
I knew I seen it somewhere. I just wish it wasn't right there on the front page [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e] . Ad I do have an ATI card. Thanks for the help.
I seem to recall an issue with the portraits not displaying in the setup screen. Is this still the case, because when I went to update the portraits they all seemed to be offset slightly and did not match up to what was displayed? Great mod, I'm really enjoying it after a few games of plain Diplomacy.
The SOA2 team is running up against the 2 gig limit. Is this an issue for Distant Stars? I haven't noticed anything myself. Thanks for the update.
I have to agree with the OP, SINS would be a better game if there was an alternative to nuking the planet. Unfortunately just about every game out there uses the nuke or similar mechnaic. The only execption I can think of right off is Master of Orion 2. It had a more "realistic" invasion, where troops fought troops and the winner got the colony (along with the orginal population). If the controlling race was different from the local race the colony would be less produc

I've been using the Distant Stars mod , it has some good enhancements and is kept updated (great job guys) Sacrifice of Angels 2 is a really good Star Trek mod, it's still a work in progress but is very playable (I can't wait to see the final product, kudos to these guys too). The first mod I played was the Mad Scientist Mod. It adds a lot of technology enhancements (not really any new techs just more levels). The original creator is no longer keeping it current, b
I'm willing to play. I can be on from 6-10PM Mountain Standard Time. My ingame name is GeneralVeers.
Sorry I missed you yesterday General. I didn't have access to the computer [e digicons]:'([/e] . I will be availiable tomorrow evening 7:00 on if anyone wants to play we can coordinate something.
I admit I haven't played much multiplayer, but I have noticed that fighters are a good counter to bombers. If I remember right LF are good against Flack Frigates so they might be a worthwhile counter. As of yet I don't deploy flacks myself, but they do seem more effective in diplomacy. My favorite strategy is to build bombers initially until the other races start deploying fighters in numbers. Then I switch to fighters and rely on ship to ship combat.<
I'm still learning to deal with the pirates in Diplomacy. I just finished a large game with 3 pirate bases (can't remember the name of the map) with unlocked teams. I kept forgetting to bid against any of the other AI's so I took most of the raids (I successfully deflected two raids, not the first raid though). The first raid I just placed scouts to monitor their course and moved my fleet to meat them. This was an Akkan and several LRFs, and maybe a couple LFs, I had a
I have been playing the DS mod with Entrenchment, and thought the pirates were pretty powerful. However after a few games I was able to change my tactics and have been able to handle them with little effort. With the straight Diplomacy the pirates are much harder than in Distant Stars. Time will tell if I can adapt again to where the pirates are controllable, or not.
I havn't seen the extreme power of the pirates yet. My current game is with the Systems of War map with 3 hard AIs. I manage to attract most of the pirate raids because I keep forgetting to up the bounty on someone else. For the most part I'm holding my own but it is costly and has really reduced my expansion, and has caused me to fall behind in the econ part of the game. Overall I'm enjoying Diplomacy a lot, and I still have a lot to learn. I do
With Diplomacy out is there any possibility for this mod to be ported over, or is that too big of a project? I am pretty much clueless on what it takes to create a mod, but from what I've seen on these fourms it takes quite a bit of effort. Hats off to all you modders out there. Kevin
P.S. - To the devel team - sorry I'm completely AWOL, but I'm digging out from under SNOWPACALYPSE here (I live in the DC area). I've got about 24" of snow on my front lawn, drifts to over 36", having a bear of a time keeping the driveway clear, can't hardly get to the mailbox, and have another 10" to 20" on the way in the next day or so according to the national weather service. What's even worse? The liquor store down the s
Thanks I'll get things updated/downloaded.
For this weekend's game, are we going to need the 1.05 update and .9551 DS patch? Also, any idea when we'll switch to Diplomacy? Thanks Kevin
Most of the players seem to enjoy single player or lan games. I've found out the hard way that it is difficult to organize online games (similar to herding cats [e digicons]:D[/e] ). I'm not on ICO very often, but we may be able to arrange something. What are you playing? Straight SINS, Entrenchment, any mods?
I've been following (lurking) this mod for a while now, and finally got around to downloading it. First game was Systems of War with 3 hard AIs. I played the Feds, my opponents were the Romulans, Dominion, and Borg. Of all the opponents the Borg were the hardest to fight (I don't think the AI handles their abilities the best though) simply because my ships kept getting assimilated. Is there anything to prevent/migitate this, I tried using the Intrepid (Voyager) with
Sounds like fun. I'd be interested in playing.
Anyone going to make it today? I'll hang around until 5:00pm
Moguta popped in for a bit, then had something come up. I lingered on until 9:45, then my wife took over the computer. Sorry we missed you, we might try something in the future to coordinate better.
