I just had a chance to play with 4.5. Were any changes made to the existing mercenary ships? I noticed that the Scurvy Dog no longer has the survey ability (I get a message that a survey module is needed to survey anomalies). Another possibility is I messed up something in the upgrade.

Thought that might be the issue. Thanks
Gauntlet Just tired the latest BETA with GRM and got this error: C:\Users\----\My Games\GalCiv3\Mods\GSM\Game\GalCiv3GlobalDefs.xml(1251,19): error: element 'InfluenceVictoryProgressInfluenceDeadZone' is not allowed for content model '(MaxNumTurns,CreditsAndPowerCap,DefaultTileMoveCost,MinTileMoveCost,ExploreTileRandomRange,MinManufacturingSlider,StartImprovementLevel, StarbaseModuleSalvageMultiplier,ShipyardMaxSponsorCount,ShipyardSalv
I like the idea of a Red/Black combination. For the ships, I'd be happy with just a random weapon/defense combination.
Just got 1.6 installed and it crashes to desktop whenever I start a new game with GRM. No problems when running without the mod. I haven't had much chance to try to figure out the issue. I've tried starting a new game with a custom race using one of your shipsets (Republic of ... aka the Narn). Tried a new game with the mod running, using the base (GC3) races, and no minor races. This still resulted in a crash to desktop during the startu
I had the same problem and solution as MScottowczarek. After the BETA driver everything's been working fine.
I had a similar problem with the 1.5 update (including the 7 bad files). The main difference was that it would crash before loading up. What worked for me was installing a "BETA" version of the AMD's Radeon video driver. Hope that helps.
Its working now. I installed tghe BETA version for the Radeon (HD 6450) graphics card. Thanks for the help.
I just checked and it's still giving the "disk read error". Also tried flushing the config files and got the same result.
I'm having a similar problem. When I opt in for 1.5 Steam starts installing and near the end gives a "disk read error" and after verifying local files it comes up "9 files failed to validate". Opting out of 1.5 and everything is fine.
Thanks!!
I'll give that a try, thanks. So far I re-downloaded the mod and started several games without issue (a couple of small size maps and a couple huge). If I have more crashes I'll give the FactionDefs a go. Thanks again.
I haven't selected them as a player race, only as AI players. No problems when they are not selected. I'll try redownloading the mod, and see if that fixes it.
I noticed whenever I started a game (2.0 of the mod) with the Menzari Communes the game will crash to desktop right after starting a new game. Looking in the game directory for the startup I noticed both the "MN" and "LE" ships are have "Beam" in their file name where all the others have "Survey". Is this correct or the cause of the crash? Thanks,
I just had a game where this happened also. The champion didn't spawn in a wild land though, he popped up a few squares from one of my cities.
I've got the same issue. It's more of a lockup/not responding than a crash, so I have to go into Task Manager and end the program. From what I can tell it only happens when attacking or being attacked by units in the Scarred/Diseased wild land. The other wild lands seem to work fine. It happens whenever a wild land unit attacks or is attacked, and auto resolve or manual resolution is selected. Fortunately the monsters h
Hmm, interesting. I could print out all my ships and have an instant fleet for my table-top games.
Drivers are up to date, and rebooting didn't help.
I have the same problem, and I understand others are as well. I've got a fairly low end integrated graphics card (ATI 3300), but all the drivers are up to date and it's running DirectX11. I hope someone has a solution soon.
Thanks Major. It may be time to look into either upgrading my video, or taking over my daughter's computer for this (she has a newer system than I do).
I just got the alpha installed and everything looks good until the game starts. Nothing appears on the main map (it's just blank) if I move the mouse around the map the status window will appear but nothing else. I double checked my video drivers and everything is up to date. I also tried setting all the video settings to minimum without any luck. I'm running an ATI Radeon HD 3300 (not the best) and Win 7 64 bit, Any ideas? </
While tactical battles are fun, when you have multiple battles going on in a turn and they all play out the same way it gets a bit tedious. Not to mention if you are in multi-player and you have to wait for someone to finish up 4 tactical battles that take 5+ minutes each, it'll get tedious for everyone. While I like GCII, I also felt the hands off tactical battles were a let down (and I very seldom bothered to watch the battles). I'd like to give general orders to
I'd like to see some general tactical choices in combat, but not micromanaged. One game I remember that came fairly close in the balancing tactical combat with strategic play was Birth of the Federation. You gave general commands to your fleet and then the "turn was executed" and you gave another order. This keeps the time it takes to play a tactical battle down and it gives you something worth watching the battle play out. With GalCiv2 I would just skip over the t
Arrgh! I've got too much invested in a Kickstarter right now (Bones II). I'm going to have to wait until next month to become a founder. Hope that option will still be available.
The only upgrade I use it the High Tower, and that is to get more resources or link cities together. All the other options don't really fit my style of play.
