One way i found this happens quite regualry with is making some a batch of 20+ scouts in a game where you've already explored most planets, hit explore on them all at the same time 6-7 will go explore the rest will just fly out of the gravity well at sublight. Yep, always happens to me when I do this, too.

It don't work that way. You can't just turn off animation. If one person turns it off, it'll create sync issues within multiplayer games. I believe that's a valid reason. Plus. It serves no purpose other than esthetic. I'd rather have performance So turning off planet elevators in the options menu creates sync issues with multiplayer games? No it doesn't of course. Since both, the moving turrets and the space elevators are graphic fluff with no

I'd like it too -- dead asteroids are nice, but some genuine no-mans lands would be nice. Call is "disrupted phase space" and say its a place where, for some reason, the phase drives won't work. (Because the alternate space, phase space, they operate in is somehow damaged or damaging?) Imho they should implement it somehow like this: It should be definable in the map file (ie. in the *.galaxy file) via coordinates which represent the bo

1. I still think the game needs the ability to increase game speed, the game still plays too slowly, IMO. Agree. This is imho desperately needed. 3. Related to #1/#2, the game is still too easy Agree. The AI still sends ships in suicide missions, attacks with single ships, retreats when it should fight and fights when it should retreat. Etc. Maybe each tech level (and

but HOW can i create a new race? This is very simple actually, although there are some issues: As an example, let's create a new race with a different light frigate compared to the stock one. First you go into your GameInfo folder. There you make a copy of the PlayerTech.entity file. Rename it to PlayerShadows.entity (this is not really necessary, but helps a bit in remembering which file does what. Quite important imho <i

I think the dev's said that if they added turret animations it would slow down the games performance tremendously. I dont want that.. do you? Understandably tracking turrets would be cool, but preformance, and good framerate is also cool. I can live without the moving turrets if it will mean a better game. Which is why you could switch it off in the options menu. High cpu usage is really no argument against it. <img src="http://images.stardock.c

Did he give any reasons? We got rid of the "space farms" before the betas started. We're not bringing them back (that's what your tactical buildings amount to). The above is what he's said. No reason, just a flat no. Dunno about why.

3D movement is already in the game and it's not difficult to use Well, it is difficult to use. It may use the same system as homeworld (I don't really remember how it did it, was a long time ago.), but it's not a very good system. First, placement in 3d is not shown very well and thus hard to read. (A single perpendicular line from the ship to the plane (ie. grav well) would help a lot). IIRC homeworld had that? (If not, a good example of this s

Fully 3D usage Is not possible, since it's impossible to place structures in 3d. Ships always adjust themselves to the plane. open connected maps/fully connected maps Open connected maps are not possible. Fully connected are, although it's a pain to make them. We might even be able to add orbits and different planes for planets and systems back into the game via moddin

2 & 3) For LAN usage, we're planning on a 1:2 ratio (1 serial for every 2 PCs on the network). The game will detect if you go over this and ask you to provide another serial if this is the case. You won't need to be connected to the Internet for LAN-only games (activation still applies, however, hence #1). Just want to give you kudos for that. Not much ga

I've tried to do a map of the solar system. In scale. Which didn't work out of course. So I did one which isn't really to scale. It's a one player vs. one AI map. As usual, the AI gets some bonus to be a stronger enemy. Prepare yourself to fight unusual strong light frigates, LRM frigates with ver

TW series AI has improved dramatically since RTW Honestly, no. The TW AIs always have been the big weak point in this otherwise excellent series. They used the same AI code for Rome and for Medieval II which failed twice at delivering a good enemy AI. This could get too complex. No, it wouldn't get too complex. With the limited space of Sins maps you can't get lost at all, 3d or not. It's just o

If the repair yards continue to acrue antimatter, they could prevent the structure deteroration altogether, or at least prolong it to a ridiculous extent. With just one yard, eventually the repair yard itself will die, but with two they can repair each other. That would be called nice planning on your part. Structure decay wouldn't be there just so you ca

Why should this prevent you from scrolling? When you write a message, you'll anyway have your hands in a position to press enter. If you just want to reread something, it's quite unlikely that you'll want to do this while under heavy stress, ie. a situation when you need to scroll fast. So imho you probably only need the message box while you have some time on your hand. Fast com

i think it would be more all around fair to remove the manual 3D movement Which would be the worst of all solutions. Rather make it possible to place structures in 3d and orient your fleet in full 3d. This is what I'm expecting in a space game, not flat pseudo 3d. The AI anyway will be inadequate for experienced gamers in RTS anyway and a inexperienced player will loose against a seasoned veteran anyway, if he's able to use 3d maneuver

Thats been brought up, no one really came up with a satisfactory answer. Don't forget, thats also where multiplayer chat will appear. There have been satisfactory answers imho. Make the enter-key a necessity to activate the message box, like in all other rts with multiplayer. That isn't really to hard to do, is it?

When I painted the textures, they were 4 times larger than they are now. Issue is. It takes up too much texture space. ends up being an extra 40 megs or something stupid. That's enough for about 15 ships or something. Congrats for your good yob. I really like them and their amount of detail. They do look very "organic" to me. Imho I would immediately sacr

what video card are you using? the bloom on your ice planet is rediculous. I've a Radeon 9800 Pro AGP with 256MB of Ram. It's an oldy but works quite well for my use. I dunno if it's bloom. It's the reflection from the sun on the ice planet. And yes, it is ridiculous. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Cool.gif" border=0 align="absmiddl

Not that it's hard, just expensive for the CPU Which is why this option can be placed under "effects" in the option menu, like the space elevators, etc. But not having tracking turrets in the final would be a big letdown. It just looks silly if your Kol fires its autocannons in a 90° arc to the guns barrel.

Warning: The following post is one gigantic minor nitpick. It's a criticism of the texture resolutions and won't improve any part of the game significantly. I just like to gaze at the planets. The planetary textures are very nice. They have lots of details. Like this mountain with its glaciers. <b
