The Kol of course. It has the best abilities (shield, gauss gun) for anti-ship combat and it's powerful autocannons can shoot in a 360 firing arc.

1) AI fleets traveling at sublight from planet to planet: Happened to me too twice. 2) The AI still runs from a fight even at its homeworld/last world. Yep, still happens. And the AI is very slow in reinforcing worlds under attack, if it even attempts to do so.
he didnt say that we know everything right now, he said that there is a limit to knowledge No, scientists (physicist) at the end of the 19. century really thought that they knew almost everything that there is to know. There were some small holes in their theories (the infamous aether, maxwell's equations) which shed some lights on further problems to come, but all in all they thought that their understanding was more or less complete.
EETS A GIRL?!?!?! Or is Yarlen a girl? Or are they a couple of the same gender ('nothin wrong with that)? NO, it's even worse! They are both secret SQRLS ! Kids don't read the following: They sqrls'd with each other!
ILL SAVE THE DAY!!! YARLEN + ME + DATE + LAST FRIDAY!!!! AAAHHHH! Wont please somebody think of the children?!?
Because your units KNOW the area of SPACE they are in, and can move about quicker with that knowledge... Well, space is really quite empty. So, what does this pilots know more about space then the others? More knowledgeable about the amount of emptiness? Sorry about that. I had to say that, really. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2
This was IGN's first look at the game based off the same beta build that everyone else has been playing. We've been told they'll be writing a more full-fledged preview based off a special build we sent them that will have more detail. Hah! You lied! From the IGN hands on: One of the high level military techs, called a Novalith Protoype, unlocks a weapon that can blast other planets without actually having t
this is why my caps only field fighters. This is not very efficient. It's better to field some flaks and only build bombers with your caps, then vica versa. Bombers do great damage to enemy ships and especially gauss cannons, while fighters are only good against bombers (which are easily dealt with flaks) and scouts (which are no threat at all).
Re: flak frigates, yes I have a whole bunch of the in the fleet i'm going to use to counter-attack the AI player, I had somehow overlooked researching them on my military tech tree even though they're at the bottom! So yeah once I use those i'm sure i'll be fine. Oh, ok. Happened to me too once. I had like a hundred Cobalts in my fleet but nothing else. I got killed by a large fleet of enemy light carriers. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/
the people prosper with staunch conservatism Actually, with staunch conservatism we would still live in the age of absolutism and monarchy. And as far as I remember, the people didn't really prosper in that age.
I don't see the capital ship limit needing to be removed. Once the AI is more capable at attacking, or once there's multiplayer, I suspect you won't be able to keep those Capital ships alive for long. Well, you should play once on a 200+ planets map, and then say it again.
e demonstrated to me the folly of a mostly capital ship fleet through his usage of like 25 Perchien Light Carriers and tons of bombers. He tore through 8 of my capital ships before I could retreat. Your own fault. About 5-10 flak frigates would have killed all those bombers in no time. -Would like to see more intelligence from the Dukan (sp?) Capital ships repair shields ability where they target the ship who is worst
Logistics of Research / Parallelism : Agree. This is a must have. If you think research will then happen too fast, up the time for the research a bit. Planetary Shield Generators : Disagree. You will need to sacrifice a bit of defense to have shields up, which I think is a good trade off. Also the shield should be much more useful, once long range attacks like the Novalith cannon are implemented
I'm really exited about the patch, but I don't know if I can download it... I'm stuck between either an amazing computer with a slow-as-balls internet connection,or a crappy computer with a 6bmps connection, curse college and heavy computers :/ Make an archive with stardock central, burn it to a disc and install it there.
Does anyone have this problem with the graphics? When I first the game the graphics lag behind for a couple of seconds and sometimes during the game. This happens on very game. Yes, happens to me too. I think it's because the game is loading textures and models for certain zoom distances. At least it always happens once when I zoom in so I see the models. But this happens only in the very beginning of the game to me.
This explains the planetary shield mechanic change. Agree. This cannon would make planetary shields useful as a defense options. Currently they're waste of money since they're so easily destroyed, but against a long range attack they would be quite nice.
Well, I've seen the growth one... and can't tell, really That's more a problem with zooming imho. Try comparing it with a normal grav field, they're quite larger. In my last game I had one of those on my reinforcement lines to the front. It took forever for ships to fly through the large grav field, slowing my down considerably. Btw. I love the entertainment hub. Free culture!
Even though it seems to be a bug, I like it how it is currently. It speeds up the game a bit for a human player, and more importantly, the AI will break out of it's star system eventually now. So, I would rather keep to current system and change the research so that it speeds up long range jumps, which are very slow at the moment.
no negativity Oh, you just didn't look hard enough. For example, the current AI is still useless. The game is more of a RTS then a true 4X game at the moment. Oh, and the worst of all, they didn't gave us the other two races to play in the last patch! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Crying.gif" border=0 align="absmidd
Wow that sounds like you really know how to pick'm Clumps should be possible, but I'll look into the probabilities. Anyone else have extraodinary luck in the bonus department? Happens to me quite often. Usually a planet has 2 or more specials, or non.
1. Started game for a little bit, and found that every time I stopped scrolling with the keys it made the 'click' sound effect... the madness... AHHHHHHHHHHHHH Yep, happens to me too. The clicking sound of madness. Madness, I tell yah. Maaadneessss! 1. This is a bug and we've fixed it internally. You can temporaily fix it locally by editing the sounddata file so that the button s
First, I have to say that whoever got the idea with the little icons in the lower left of the build menus, which show what you're lacking, is a genius. It's really a very nice addition. Which gave me an idea: Let's say, I want to build a new trade station. I have the resources, the research, just not the logistical points needed. But this is no problem since I can easily bu
That just seems... odd to me. If he'd said "I'm going to go download and we'll look at it" I'd have bought that, but being able to find a (what, 6 month old?) file on the server seems extremely strange -- if nothing else, I'd have expected the "housekeeping" routines to have kicked in by now! (And I'd sincerely hope that they'd have dug the file up a long time ago, too!) Spartan, I downloaded your file and we'll look at it shor
Yup! And also makes us really wonder about whether you customer service guys actually do what your saying you do They do if you send them a mail. I always got an answer after a workday.
Huh? Did someone interchange the hard difficulty with the easy one? I'm always playing on hard against the AI and I would be happy if the AI attacked me after 10 minutes. 1. It is impossible to explore without for some reason I have yet to discover drawing an attack from some other npc player. Actually that doesn't draw an attack from the AI. At least if you use scouts, it's no problem. Just don't think about exploring the AI's home pla
