Wow, we're getting at least 2-3 posts like this per day, it seems. Do a search for beginner strategy, strategies, or economy, or economy help, etc. You'll find many threads with a lot of good advice. I'm sure people are getting tired of giving beginning advice in a new thread every single day. I know I am. But it's already here on this forum, so just search for it. If you can't find anything, post again saying so and someone will probably point you to the exact thread you w

it seems like all the time I am 10/10 on everything, even technology, which I prioritize (+20% abilities, +20% gov party), not to mention flat out broke. Don't put too much stock into the ratings within the first game-year. In fact, in games which I know I will win eventually, I'm often last or next to last for much of the game. I'm not sure how the game decides which civ is on top, but it doesn't always make that much sense. Just keep plugging

I have read a posting that says anomalies that boost tech research by 25% are Ship Graveyards Actually, they're the Civ Graveyards. The Ship Graveyard anomalies usuallly (or always?) give the survey ship some kind of upgrade.

I'll notice this when say I have 2 or 3 turns left and when I end the turn I get the tech right away (basically 1 or 2 turns shaved off. There is an anomaly that does that as well. Research01 Thanks to probes of the spatial anomaly, our researchers have been able to make phenomenal advances in the technology currently being researched. So it could have been due to Creativity or to you

Well, here's one, and another has about an hour left to finish. That's impressive, two at once! One a week is about max for me, even at Medium galaxy. Part of the issue is that my computer just slows down so much in mid and late game. And time, of course, that ever slipping thing . . . <img src="http://altmeta2.thegalacticcore.com/ranksig.php?id=1

Ah, it's all so obvious once it's spelled out in one place like this: if America and England caused all the sectarian violence, then the second we pull out it will end. Iraq will once again unanimously elect a peaceful leader, and the Middle East will go back to the state of peaceful tranquility it always maintained before the evil interlopers messed everything up. The moonbats are proven right, but Bush steals all the credit! The perfect crime. <br/

Wyndstar, when I view your posts, with the metaverse boxes at the bottom saying Krynn vs. Korath, I'm assuming they're supposed to be showing the updated scores. However, for me, I see them as identical except for the race logo and color. In other words, if you're trying to show the score, it doesn't show it to me, at least.

Wyndstar and Livonya, while I don't have conclusive proof, my experience shows me clearly that MCC is a great hindrance to planets flipping. Before I realized what was up (just before I started contributing to this post a couple of months ago), when I was going for a strategy of flipping to conquer I would go evil to get MCC. I had all influence techs and many starbases, so that I'd get about a flip/turn. After MCC, for two games straight, the flipping utterly stopped. And there was no other

Hey, it's all quite realistic. After all, creative people don't tend to be the most organized!

Seriously, you're killing me. You believe more deeply than the neoconservatives who concocted this whole charade. At least they KNEW they were lying! Now don't be just blaming conservatives, wasn't it Mr. John Edwards himself who SPONSORED the bill to invade Iraq? Did he believe there were WMD's? If not, then he's even lower that I already think he is for going along with something just to look good. If so, how can you blame conservatives and how can you

This will show how ignorant I am when it comes to computers, but how do you get that AltMeta box that can be displayed just above the medals when you post? I've seen the page on the AltMeta where you can copy a link in 3 different formats. I have no idea which one to use, and I haven't been able to find how to set it up so that it will be displayed when I post. Thanks, and sorry this isn't entirely on topic. I just assumed this would grab the attention of some of the most savvy peopl

So even if I tried to go above 4 with max spending on espionage, It would effectively be just flushing that money down the toilet......... No, I think you had a particular and unique experience. I've saved up 15 spies and plopped them down all at once. Needless to say, the AI didn't just nullify 11 of them right away. In fact, I'm not sure where you got the idea that 4 was a magic number. Perhaps I'm wrong, and I'll be interested to hear if othe

Wow, great thread! My latest DA 1.6 Beta game, masochistic medium map as Thalans, the Terrans offered me Anti-matter Power Plants for Beam-Weapon Theory. Needless to say, I took it. Then the Drengin offered me Majesty for Stinger II. So, once in a blue moon you'll get a good deal.

Livonya, during one update I started a couple of Meta games and I got a message right away, before the game even initially loaded, that cheat flags were detected. It happened to be a problem with the update, so that I had to delete raceconfig files. But it did tell me before the game started that there were cheat codes detected. It sounds like you didn't get that notice, but that's the kind of notice that should absolutely pop up as soon as a cheat code is detected, and should, frankly, pop u

Regarding colonization techs, why do you stil have to research the 1st tech (for example Barren World Colonization) if you steal the advanced tech to get 100% production. Wouldn't the advanced tech include the basic one? You'd think so, but it just doesn't work that way. Each one is worth 50% production, and it doesn't matter what order you get them in.

Well, have you played Escape Velocity? Those graphics and that gameplay was superceded long ago, but those games are still top-notch. I wouldn't get SR2 for a graphical immersement, that's for sure. But it does feel like a "real" universe and the play from it is very good.

i don't know what space rangers is? Mystik, it's one of the best games recently. Space Rangers 2, which you can actually get through Stardock. For the most part it's a very open universe. The game itself is a mixture of many different genres. The main portion is you flying around in a 2D environment, trading, fighting, questing, etc. You have a character that you can upgrade, along with the equipment, obviously. But some of the quests

im gonna be honest, im still confused about wheather im runnin the "beta" or just a late release update to 1.5 im running 1.59.078 Is this the beta? Your Main Menu screen should say what version you're running. I did everything (a number of times) to run the Beta from Frogboy's zip, but my computer/software is in such a state that it doesn't want to run it. So I'm still running the latest DA, as far as I can tell. I'd love it if this Beta were av
