Seems there was a database limitation causing the latest 15 members of HCH from showing up--should be fixed up now. Let the conspiracy theories about the Diplomats' power begin

Yeah, I hate how the AIs offer each other fair trades, while they offer me stuff like "we would like to give you laser theory in exchange for Majesty" No, in my latest game I got, from the Terrans of all races, the offer of anti-matter power plants (their offer) for beam weapon theory!!! And this was on masochistic! This is on the latest DA build, which is supposedly very bad for tech trading. I find it just fine. You have
Just and interesting sidenote, though: I was trying to figure out why South Carolina was brought into the equation. After all, I've only ever spent a week in Charleston. Then I looked at my avatar, which is representative of the University of Southern California, and suddenly all became clear. BTW, having grown up in California, I don't take offense to the South Carolina remark. You may need to mend fences with other forum members, however. As a gr
Godlick. I don't really want to know how this setting works!!!
First, in DA the AI does colonize PQ1 worlds. It doesn’t do so frequently, but it does. Do you have a screenshot or some evidence? I thought as you did at one point, but now I completely believe that I was mistaken. They'll INVADE a PQ1 that's been terraformed, but they will not EVER colonize a PQ1. Again, I'd love to see if I'm wrong here. It would make the AI "smarter", to some degree.
I'm just getting up to maso now, and in my current game AI races colonized ALL of the extreme planets, and there were many of them. However, it didn't matter that much, because their pop didn't get high enough to make a huge difference. In fact, it tended to be a drag upon their econs more than a boon. So, I've just been waiting until mid/late game to trade for or research any of those colonizing techs. At that point they're easy to research, and when you're actually starting to take those
Not a bug. Anomalies don't regenerate. Some have brought this up as a possibility for the future, but for now the fact of the matter is that they don't regenerate.
Had a tiny map with rare everything, 1 AI player (random) and random intelligence with events on, and minor races on, and tech trade disabled. I played Terran and got Yor, no minor civs and only 12 habitable worlds. If you're just learning, then more opponents is better. You can learn how to use diplomacy with/against a variety of races. Some are fodder as allies, some as purely tech-trade cash-cows, and one or two as targets of opportunity. <img src=
Also, if you haven't already, please open Stardock Central and make sure you have the latest version of the beta update. I'm not getting any report of beta versions on Stardock Central. I had to install it via Frogboy's zipped file, and Stardock Central doesn't even recognize that I'm using a beta right now. Is it supposed to be giving possible updates for the beta at this point in time?
Forum's back to normal for me now.
Character: Bastard Neutral Years: 4 [Krynn] Military Conquest 21000 Crippling Medium v1.50x3 Dark Avatar (Dark Avatar) 4/12/2007 6:43:29 PM Don't know if this will work, but here are my stats. I can't figure out how to take a screenshot with the tools I have, and with my computer barely able to handle what I've got on it at the moment, I won't be downloading any more software at this point. Anyone else having trouble seeing the text in
If we had enough room in football stadiums, a lot of people would put up with quite higher taxes for season tickets. That's definitely a male's perspective, and not universal at that for sure. Well, that's why the words "a lot of" are included in the sentence. Even a necromancy after two months can't quite expunge them from the original text
There is a tutorial. If you've used Stardock yet, you'll see that you can download tutorial videos. Those are decent. And go to the Databanks link on this very galciv2 site, on the top left corner of the pages, just under HOME. Also, read faqs, which exist for this game. Also, read the manual that I'm sure you got with the game. It's probably .pdf format in the same directory as GalCiv2. Also, search this site for basic strategy guides. The re
I play almost exclusively med iums, for lack of time and patience. I've always been a bit suspicious about some of the advice from people who play gigantic, huge, or even large. My settings are always random, so I do end up with quite a few games with just a couple or a few worlds for much of the game. I've found a balanced development approach to work quite well. However, your AAR really makes me thi
For a pretty detailed description of one of my latest games, read the Altarian Rebellion AAR story and game description I put together. Thanks! I look forward to reading it as soon as I finish my taxes today
I've seen the "- militaristic" appear for some AI's for these reasons: 1) If your military is far and above better then theirs, they view this as militaristic. Of course some AI's respect it as well and you pluses for it (they are scared) 2) If you ever declared war on anybody, even a minor, this can and most likely will be viewed as militaristic 3) If you place fleets in their sectors or near a planet of theirs, you can get this as well as t
Ah, I didn't realize the spy event was a Mega. I guess I've had one, then!
Mystik, what's the point of being so deep in hatred?
I fail to see how that explains the destruction of the buddhist statues? The destruction of those statues stands in testimony to the true nature and cause behind all of the worlds strife today.... islamic intollerance. Read some history to see what kinds of "shrines" the Western World has destroyed. Countries at war tend to destroy things that other countries hold sacred. Does this somewhat explain why radical Muslims, who were al
Sadly, Islam is the purest definition of intollerance you will ever find in the world. It is the big achillies heel of an otherwise noble faith. So what is the noble faith you speak of? The aggression in the Middle East springs only from the weakness of the countries and people in the Middle East and the corruption of their political leaders. And who set up their political system? History itself will show you that it was mostly England, Western E
You sure you got them turned on. , only joking. Yeah, I'm sure they're on. I've wanted them, even if I might not want them if they actually happened!
I thought this was an off topic forum, or are are their rules on how off topic? Ah, sorry, I didn't realize this was an off-topic post! Please accept my apology about that. It's just that I hadn't seen this kind of post for quite awhile, so I sort of assumed that someone was on acid or something. Not that these concerns are illegitimate! They're right-on, as far as I'm concerned. But I just didn't expect to see them in this context, tha
Greetings All, I've played about 15 DA games now, most of them metaverse. Never in any of my games have I got a Mega Event. I don't think it could just be my play style. I've played all the races, and I've won influence, diplo, and (mostly) military victories. Though I've heard bad things about some of the Mega Events, I've wanted to get one just to spice things up. Now, I've won by the skin of my teeth, and I've won by utter dominance throughout the game, so in other words
See, I should have joined when I had the offer Offer's still valid, MC.
Is this just a Evil tech like Psionic missile? Yes, it is only an evil tech. If you haven't researched Xeno ethics and chosen evil, it won't appear. It used to be there. I just noticed it was gone too in my last Yor game. I assume it will be back in an update soon. So you're saying it's gone now? I find that hard to believe. Probably you hadn't gone evil before you got to the point where you
