i play Dread lords, i play on surcidal, i have play over 20 game (not on metaverse), and so far the AI seem to go for the high class planets first then the low class. Well, that's DEFINITELY not true. AI colonizes whatever it comes into contact with first, except PQ1.

Well I have been playing the game now for a few days and it is simply phenomenally good, even more so with the one particular mod that I am using... Wow, that mod seems to address just about everything that I was worried about after I read the Gamespot review. And just the fact that so much can be modded is a great sign. I'm definitely going to be rethinking whether to try this. I'm a little worried about performance, or if it will even r

Another DA beta 1 game. Terrans surprise-attacked me. We were at Warm the turn before, both at war with Yor, lots of trade between us, and both neutral. It really looks like they've chosen a "target of opportunity," because I had a great (22-class) planet in their sphere of influence with only 1 ship in orbit (transport), and I had no fleets anywhere near it for defense. Damn them! I went neutral just to buddy up to the ingrates. They shall pay, Oh they shall pay dearly!

If your miner has shut itself off of "automatic" improvement because it couldn't find anything else to improve, then you get the next level of tech, it's best to move the miner off of any asteroids before hitting "automate" again. If it's already on a base/asteroid, it will only give the option to "improve" that one, then will quit when it's done. But if it's not on anything, it will give the "automate" option and will go until it can't improve anything anymore.

Gamespot now has a review of it: WWW Link Doesn't look too appealing if you go by this review. Has anyone tried Alien Invasion, which vimes2004 just linked to? I HAVE to play some sort of X-Com clone, as I missed it the first time around and have heard nothing but good things about it. Maybe I'll have to give in and just go for Terror From the Deep,

The real question is, is this intentional? Yes, as only the race that developed the good can trade it around. And while we're at it, i have another trade goods related question. Besides the bonus i get from having the monopoly on a particular trade good, how does that affect my trading? Do my trade routes wield more bc's per turn? Also, does it grant any bonus to the race i'm trading with, like if i have harmony c

By looking at your graphs, it looks to me like Graviton Drivers aren't really better than Quantum Drivers anymore, as it says in the wiki just above the graphs. But it is striking to note just how better missiles are in almost every situation.

Yeah, I remember a number of people calling for that as a feature of DA, back when it was being developed. I have no idea how much work it would be, but it would make losing at times an attractive idea!

5) All home systems have 3 asteroid fields (even the Thalan - I thought it would make sense for the Bugs to have an extra, sense there is no minor planet, but nope.) DA 1.6 beta 1, playing as Iconians with 20% minor planet result (3+2+2+2), I have FOUR asteroid fields in my home system. I just double-checked it because I didn't believe it myself.

Trade can be useful for much of the game (and in DA, at least, the routes increase in value over time), so long as you build the Galactic Privateer. Then you can keep at least some of that trade income, losing it bit by bit as you slowly eliminate AI after AI. Beware, though, as the galactic privateer bug can be very annoying on larger maps with more ships. In the latest DA beta, I'm seeing the AI build GP quite often (at least on masochistic), so you get this bug being troublesome ev

Correction, 5 buildings. I forgot to count the starport. So it is not "2 per turn" but seems to be unlimited or related to reloading/whatever... It would be interesting to know whether if you reloaded many times, you could find an AI planet completely developed in the first or second turn. That would prove that this is a bug. Could someone try this and report? I don't want to change my files to enable cheats at this point, as I'm not so

Hi! Anyone able to confirm or refute this? I just checked: tiny suicidal game, 9 AIs, cheats enabled. I revealed the map and checked homeworlds with my spy. A half of them had already 2 buildings BUILT, another half had 1 building built and another one in queue. Those with 2 finished buildings had the third building finished after I pressed the Turn button for the first time. To repeat again: they had 3 fini

on't you have to have the "cheat" switch included in the shortcut. Also the shortcut needs to directly reference the Galciv2.exe file not the "launcher". Thanks. No, I haven't done any of that. I don't play with cheats, so I probably won't go to the trouble. I'm surprised no one has tried this out yet, though. People were very interested in the thread on whether the AI cheats by sending its colony ships straight to habitable planets. Th

It was, until a couple of days ago. Since not everyone has the latest patch... Long enough if you ask me. No, it's been fixed at least since beta 1, which I've been playing for more like a couple of weeks, hardly a couple of days.
