Are planet populations capped based on the initial PQ or current PQ? For example, will a PQ3 and PQ4 world always cap out at 1.28B and 2.5B respectfully even if they are later terraformed to 10+ PQ? Not in the latest DA beta. When PQ changes via terraforming, the pop cap also changes.

[Hmmm... that's strange. I responded to this a couple of hours ago, but it still hasn't shown up. My apologies if this is a duplicate response.] Go to the main foreign relations screen, where you see the major races listed in medium-sized boxes in the middle-upper-right of the screen. There will be one race listed in a larger box on the left (the one you've selected or the default if you haven't selected one yet). Click on the race who's your ally, and that race will become the

You have some bad spelling errors, but some good ideas. Seconded. Some great ideas, the first of which should be looking into a dictionary. Seriously, though, this is an interesting thread so far.

At home. Aging crabby Republicans watch a lot of on-demand cable movies. That way we don't have to venture out into the world and risk being stoned, or, worse, encountering Liberals! Ha! That's a bit sad, though. We liberals don't always have on-demand! If I had it, I might never venture out. That might mean that I would have to get a real job, though.

Well, you only need 40% approval to get a population to grow, and actually I believe you really only need 37%. Have I ever mentioned how very exploitable fertility clinics are?? No need to keep morale as high as you suggest... except for the very early game. See here for a more in depth discussion of the current DA situation. I definitely see your point, and I've seen the thread. But on smaller galaxies you often can't get any morale resources,

The loyalty bonus should be the Yor super ability, and their current isolationist super ability taken outside and shot. Why? I haven't found the Yor to be so difficult. Right now I hate encountering the Korath, Krynn, Terrans or Altarians. The Yor and the least of my worries.

There definitely is a pop cap based upon planet quality. Luckily, you can get around it by researching the planetary improvements techs, i.e., Soil Enhancement, Habitat Improvement, Terraforming. I don't keep my 4-PQ planet at that PQ for too long, unless I'm planning to ferry population to that planet via colony ships or troop ships. I think that all other people who play at the higher difficulty settings will give this same advice. Population is perhaps your most valuable resource.

Perhaps in the early-middle game where you are encouraging population growth, but in the late game, you really don't need approval for anything other than morale bonus and elections OK, but if you're taking planets with any consistency, and if you're moving pop around, you need to keep morale up at 70% or above to keep it growing. Do you have some other system where that's not relevant? If you wait around too long to let your pop grow slowly, then

I propose that, for each percent under the red numbers of happiness, there is a chance that a planet tile will be disabled with a homegrown spy. An interesting idea. However, if you're playing with any skill at all, you won't have planets in the red, except in the most extreme of circumstances. If it happens for long, you've probably lost the game already. I think this would hurt the AI more than the human player. I've noticed that the A

I am happy as hell that the drive in is playing Spidey 3 with Ghost Rider (old Marvel nut here, but I DON'T like Nicolas Cage as the Ghost Rider... ). Wow, what a great drive-in! They're usually (around here, in Rhode Island) a few weeks behind in showing newly released movies. I love drive-ins. Where else can you play catch before the movie, drink beer (or your choice of beverage) during the movie, and do what you please if the movie sucks?

Ah, I've found it. In the latest DA version (beta 1), "L" makes it seem like it will change launch location, in that you get the option of choosing where to launch ships, but it doesn't take. Only hitting that TINY box around the "ships in orbit" area in the planet box at the bottom middle of the main screen will allow you to really change the launch point. If someone has figured out how to make "L" work, please let me know.

+ NEW: The popup for adding money to negotiations on the trade screen will now open with the value needed to make the AI accept the offer (or the total amount in your treasury if they won't accept it). Thanks!!! I look forward to trying it as soon as I finish my latest game.

You have to change the default launch location before launching the ship. I thought you did this by hitting "L", when just clicked on the planet. Is that not the case? I used to know how to do it, but it isn't working for me right now.

This re-assignment of the launch direction is very confusing to me. I had done it before, I think in DL, actually. But in DA, I've been at a planet, clicked on a ship, clicked "L", then clicked on a square around the planet (with areas glowing or not), and it still launches at the old location. I'll try the button (which I've never actually seen), but I suspect a bug at this point. I'll post here again when I see whether I can make this work.

I find your posts to be very interesting. But at this point I'm going to be staying away from political discussions on this forum. I too feel that I've been a "dick" in those discussions at some point, whereas I didn't mean to be at all. It's just very easy for people to misinterpret what you're saying, and it's also easy to make statements which could be easily misinterpreted. But I think the extraordinarily large reaction to your posts shows that you're tapping into a need that man

Wow, thats uncommon. :O Not really. I've found the Korx to be much better in the latest DA beta than they have been before. They tend to be strong in my games now. They build the Gal Bazaar and Privateer within the first couple of years, as opposed to entirely ignoring them as they did in the past.

Yes, I was referring to "Recent Posts" on the left side of www.galciv2.com. Sorry if I was not clear. Well, I guess now you know to go to "Everything" first. Despite its name, it does exclude a lot.

On a more practical note, any info they give up can save between dozens and thousands of lives. Hand me that ballpeen hammer over there. I'll get him to talk. No you won't get him to talk, and those he knows will be applying the same methods to your own family. You're talking like someone who has watched too much television.

Also, the Iconians play pretty well on RARE maps, especially in DA, because their home system is SO fine. PQ14+1+1+1 and (usually) PQ3+5+5+5. And with rare systems / planets, being able to grab some extreme worlds early can REALLY matter. Good to hear some love for the Iconians. You've now inspired me to try them. People have been saying that they're the worst, but it probably just depends upon the situation. I have had to abort two games recentl

On the contrary, TREASON is always wrong. Whistleblowing is not. If she saw instances of real torture then she needed to bring it to the attention of her superiors or if she didn't trust them, then the proper authorities outside the chain. I don't think "friend, or neighbor , or 2nd cousin, or whatever" would qualify as any of those, unless of course Cornhuskermac is the proper authorities. You really believe that people should not talk about what t

Neutral 3 [Human] Military Conquest 18550 Masochistic Small v1.50x3 Dark Avatar (Dark Avatar) 5/2/2007 10:24:38 PM Just like in the last tourney, I can't take a screen shot. But these are the stats. I only played Terrans because I want the race medal. However, I found it quite easy. The Super Diplomat ability is dominating, at least at masochistic level. Wyndstar, thanks for organizing this tourney!
