the AI, using its omniscience No, it's not omniscient. Haven't you noticed how many scout ships it sends out? I NEVER build scout ships anymore, but the AI does, and it sends them to the farthest reaches of the galaxy that it can reach. That's how it knows where things are. Read threads about AI "cheating". No one has been able to show that the AI knows where planets are without finding things first. And this has been my experience, also. The AI w

It's been forever since I've played that, but if I'm not mistaken you just have to get a ship to that spot. In the middle VERY top of the screen you can see the sector reading, and that's one of the most important facts for this mission. I didn't know how to find the sector and so just flew around until I got lucky! Anyway, yes, just constructors and getting ships out to that sector -- that's the real key. Don't worry too much about development because it's almost entirely irrelevant

I hope this makes sense. I know it doesnt to me. Its just the way a pathetic noob like me can win at this difficulty, if you want to put it that way. Yes, it's admirable that you can do that. Suicidal scares me, so I haven't even tried it yet!

Sorry to those who want to read something related to this thread. ToS: Why not start your own thread about what's illogical or wrong with GC2? That way you would have plenty of fodder for your intellect (which is obviously very keen), and you'd have less inclination to intrude upon other threads. Just a suggestion, so please only take it as such

Swiffo, 17 years?? Holy *(#&@^!!!!! Believe me, I'm not putting you down or anything like that. It's pure admiration! I've never seen such a long game. Did you hit "turn" a lot, or did you actually play out each turn fully? Just curious

What's being missed in all of this, in my opinion, is that you can still get over on the AI in tech trading. You just have to have goals. The AI isn't so good at having long term goals. For instance: 1) If you know what you want: Do you need a weapons upgrade, or an econ or factory upagrade, or a morale upgrade? You can get those if you're willing to give up certain things. 2) Do you understand who you can trade with, without hurting yourself in the long run? For insta

Unfortunately I was no match for the literally HUNDREDS of colony ships that swarmed me. I didn't 'lose', but I ended up fighting a war inside my own borders. Do you know what "literally" means? It means "really." No matter the galaxy size or the difficulty setting, I'd wager a lot that you didn't literally see HUNDREDS of colony ships. Just don't exaggerate. Yes, there will be waves of AI colony ships at the higher difficulty settings.

Do you mean 1.6 beta 4? What did you update from? It changed to get much more difficult quite a while back. I think 1.5 DA introduced the change. Anyway, at first it seemed FAR more difficult (imagine how it is on higher difficulty settings, if you think those Though ratios are bad!), but you get used to it and can still get good deals from the AI. You just have to change your approach. There's quite a discussion about it in the thread Tech Trading is Ridiculous <a href="https://fo

Just dropped my first 100k game for the empire! And i tell ya it just might be the last Congrate neilo! Lucky for you the movement-speed Mega Event didn't show up!

I completed a DA game. Only on Painful, but that was painful enough. I didn't mind coping with the all the changes, unfortunately my PC couldn't. One crash, and soooooo slow. I was only playing on a medium size map, had graphics set to low, and still..., "stutter, cough, wheeze, gaak". I have no problems playing medium size maps in DL, so until I upgrade that's it for me with DA. Have you tried the latest beta? Performance is the main thrust of the

frame rates was my only real beef about this game, i am now beefless. great job on improving the game. I'm avoiding the impulse to mention an advertisement from the 80's, by Wendy's burger chain, with a little old woman. Those who are old enough to remember it need hear no more . . .

People were sending you emails over this? Get a life, people! I've enjoyed seeing these different strategies. I haven't really used sliders very wisely or logically yet, only a few times a game do I adjust them if I think I need some immediate thing. But I think I'll try messing around with them soon. I just don't want my game turning into a giant schlep! For some, though, the math, even micromanagement, is half the fun. Oh, and Happy Birthday! <

I would like the next update to address issues/bugs. Leave the additional content/graphics and whatever else for the next update. If what you mean is whatever issues and bugs the devs think are most important, then I'm with you on this. But the "cheating" one ("cheating" in quotes because that's a bit of a stretch) looks too complicated and not nearly important enough to worry about at this point. It looks as if 1.6 is going to be aiming a

Hey, if you haven't researched it yet, how should you be able to know exactly what it does? It makes perfect sense to me. If you play the game enough, you'll remember certain things. But even after playing quite a bit I'm still not sure exactly what each tech will give. That's why it's research. It's going into the future of technology.

Nice retort Ghost. With Wheel gone are you putting your hand up for the job? Neilo, no one needs to be recruited. Wheels burn of their own accord.

Beta 4 is working great for me. Much faster. I can now play on Large galaxies with very little slow-down. Before even Medium was trouble if there were too many inhabitable planets.

i looked at the link neilo, looks like he said somthing that got wiped. No, it's not wiped. It's the post linked at Neilo's post on this thread. The guy basically said what I myself thought, but I wasn't rude enough to say it myself. RIP, Wheel. I hope there can be some kind of resurrection.

This is an intended feature, isn't it? The concept of veteran, killer fleets? Of course, but I thought he meant they get an extra hitpoint with EVERY fight. That didn't used to be the case, and I haven't seen if it is now, either. But I'll have some time to play today so I'll see if I see it.

"How much do I need?" Id say buy two 1 gig sticks. I wouldnt touch DA without ATLEAST 1 Gig. Nope, not any more. I'm playing beta 4 right now, and it's quite fast on my VERY low end machine. I had trouble playing medium galaxies on earlier DA builds, but beta 3, and now beta 4, have sped things up by about 20 times for me. I'm now playing a fast-running game on a large galaxy, for instance. I'd suggest you update to beta 4 befor

From the middle of the game on I am lucky if I get 2-3 turns in per reload and I often only get one. This would lead to my opponents getting 30-50% more production than they should be. Add this to the influence bug (which I have documented and sent in on several occasions) on the reload turns and this has a major effect on large games. If you take that into consideration, then perhaps you could adjust the difficulty level accordingly. Difficulty levels

It seems to be that when the AI has a slightly better fleet, they get allot more bang for their buck than what seems fair. I honestly haven't noticed this at all. Would you have time to do some experiments so that we could see a clear example? Whenever I've been soundly defeated by AI ships, I've been able to come up with some reason, not just that the AI must be cheating in some way. "Cheating" seems to me to be what you're driving at. If not,
