I have also seen a Kingdom sovereign wandering around with a Vigilant Minion, although I can't remember which one it was.

Tumbleweed blows through the Elemental Fiction forum. I guess people are too busy moaning in the other forums. Well unfortunately for you, ignoring me will NOT make me go away! Episode 3- Exclamation Mark After a hard day of kinging and adventuring, I decide to make a quick stop at a local tavern. I bring Janusk along for some conversation. He’s a little posh, but it’s nice to have someone else around who at least treats me as a human bein
Thanks for the reply, I was worried noone had read this :p Episode 2: Kingdom Building for Dummies So frankly I have no idea about a good place to set up a kingdom, but personally my eye was drawn to this. There’s gold in them hills. Now I’m not a miner, but hey, that’s what subjects are for right? There’s
Just to make this clear from the start- this is about a minor race city that was captured by one of the 'real' AIs. I know that minor races aren't supposed to expand their cities. Now, minor race cities are special in that they can't go past level 1. However the AI doesn't seem to realise this, and it had build a whole load of houses which were doing nothing other than wasting their food resource. Seems to me this is a pretty nasty glitch since food is probably the most precious resou
This is an AAR of my first sandbox game of Elemental. I played the beta a bit, and I've run through the campaign, but if you're looking for good strategy, you'd best look elsewhere. Also, big flashing warning, this AAR is incomplete, there are only going to be four updates. This is due to the 1.0.6 patch breaking my save. I'd built up these updates as a buffer so as to keep a constant rate of updates, but now I'm afraid that it's all you're getting. Seems a shame to waste
In my game, I've had a Fire shard and a lost library (I think? not used to the icons yet) spawn right on top of each other. If you look carefully in the screenshot below you'll see a fire shard poking out of the top of the library. The result of this is that I can't develop the lost library (I can apparently use the fire shard on
Spyrer, you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Ice core testing proves that CO2 levels correspond to rises in the Earth's temperature. This doesn't prove that rising temperature causes CO2 rises at all, it could just as easily be the other way around. Talk to pretty much any climate physicist. CO2 causes the Earth's temperature to increase. This is just as well, because without the pre-industrial levels of CO2, the Earth would be one big ice cube. Adding more CO2 increa
Only worry there is that you could be handing the DLs logistic techs...
That's a risky strat though, because if someone DOES declare war on you then you're screwed. As the saying goes... If you seek peace, prepare for war.
It's because the Thalans are useless, so they are always loosing, so they are happy to be friends with anyone that'll take them.
Modding in GCII is limited to altering whatever is already there, you can't add new features. So no you can't do that. Sorry.
Their main weakness (in DL at least) is that they can only hit one of your ships at a time. Of course, that hit will destroy practically any ship you can build until well into the game, no matter how many defenses you put on it. So go for all attack ships, tiny hulls, and make sure that you're always the one to strike first. Alternatively, make fast ships armed with single weapons, and avoid the DL warships entirely, concentrating on taking out their troop transports instead. Of course,
If you buy a game second hand then you have no right to support from the game manufacturer. It's like buying a second hand car and expecting the manufacturer to fix it for you if it breaks down. If you don't like that, then buy new.
Don't use the core ships, simple as that. Designing your own is just much better. If you really insist on using the core ships (and I have no idea why you would) then make sure you have all of the weapons/defenses/engines/whatever else are needed and try going up the miniturisation tree.
Turn on allied victory, then ally with anyone that you don't want to kill. If you want proper team battles, there are some scenarios that force races into teams. There's one Good vs. Evil vs. Neutral for instance, I can't remember if there's a 5v5 version. Only problem is that you'll be forced to play as Terrans, unless you have the skills to mod the game yourself.
The DLs are supposed to be nigh on invincible. However, they don't get any better over time (apart from being able to crank out ships faster as they build more factories). If you can survive, then eventually you'll make up the difference. You've got to learn to fight clever- DL dreadnoughts are effectively invincible in the early game, but with a full sized low level fleet, you should be able to take out the troop transports. Instead of waiting for the DLs in orbit around your planets,
One of the tabs along the bottom opens the shipyard. It looks a bit like a rocket in a diamond shape. When you open it, you should see a list of ships down the left hand side, and a 3D model of the currently selected ship on the right. There should also be some buttons saying 'New', 'Upgrade', 'Delete' and 'Obsolete'. Just click on 'New' to start your own ship, or 'Upgrade' to change the currently selected ship.
You create your ships inside the game itself, not from the Race setup screen. You can save them as either complete ships (with weapons/engines and so on) or templates (which is just the bare hull plus jewelry). You can then use those ships to create custom ship styles. Unfortunately, there's no way to create custom ships without going through the whole starting a new game stuff first.
You can't take over starbases without destroying them. Or buying them in the diplomacy screen I suppose, but the AI tends to overcharge for them. What Senan is thinking of is the Asteroid mining bases.
Please note miniaturization does NOT reduce the size of ship components, but increases amount of available space on ship hulls. Since the available space is bigger, components also became bigger because of the sizemod effect. BR, Iztok Untrue with newer versions. Size mod is now based on the ORIGINAL size of the hull pre-miniturisation, so the components never get any bigger.
I seem to remember a mod that created a load of extra core ships so that they'd always be more or less at the right tech level. Can't remember what it was called though, and I can imagine that the shipyard got a bit crowded. It's really not that much of a hassle to design ships.
Not to cast a downer on the occasion, but I suspect that this wasn't a case of a 'sneak attack', but rather an 'accidental attack'. Your planet happened to be on the way towards the Carinoids, so the fleet attacked it by accident.
This is the problem with making overly simplistic assumptions- namely that 'traitors' are automatically bad, and that 'patriots' are automatically good. If you lived in Nazi Germany, the 'patriots' would be the guys following Hitler's instructions and gassing Jews. The 'traitors' would be someone who would help them escape. But who is it that is actually doing the right thing? It isn't a bad thing to be traitorous to a dictator. And it isn't a good thing to be support one and b
The only thing we know about that planet is that its in the right place and it has an atmosphere. We also know that it orbits a Red Dwarf star, and is thus very cold, because Red Dwarfs don't provide much heat. It's also much closer to the star. The whole point is that it's at the right distance to give Earth temperatures, or at least something in that sort of region (about 0-40 degrees centigrade). The fact that the star is giving off less heat has alre
I thought this was pretty neat. Apparently there's a planet called Gliese 581, which has just recently been discovered, that is in the right orbit around its star to give it near-earth temperatures. While it's still a long way from being declared 'habitable', it seems to be the best candidate for alien life since Mars was discovered to be a barren wasteland. The gravity is just under 3 times that of Earth, which is survivable if not exactly comfortable, and it is 'only' 20.5 light years
