I thought of something while playing into the wee hours last night. It occurred to me that, often when I need to bring up the foreign relations screen, I want to talk to several races, not just one. But currently, I have to highlight the race I want, click "speak to", do my business, click "done", and repeat the whole process. Here's my suggestion... Instead of having three buttons underneath the picture of the alien representative, have four buttons. In the middle, the exis

I had a similar problem with one of my survey ships...there was one anomaly I just couldn't get to! Everytime I'd click on it, it would take me to the star system right next to it. I finally figured out that the anomaly was stuck right on top of a trade route. For some reason (at least in the game I was playing...I haven't looked into this much further) my ships would go "around" certain parts of trade routes, even if there was no ship in that particular spot at the time. Strange.

New from Microsoft, Windows UL...a pretty way to look at your desktop, but basically useless as an operating system. WTH?! Got a good laugh from that one, although I feel a little guilty laughing at such a moving sales pitch. I don't know whether to buy the software, or recommend a good therapist. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle" ALT="Powered by SkinBrowser

From the Wincustomize home page, if you click on one of the "Library" links to see skins in that category, it will also give you information about the software needed to use that skin. Many of the applications (WindowBlinds, DesktopX, WebBlinds, IconPackager, etc) are part of a suite called Object Desktop published by Stardock (www.stardock.com). There are also skins available for Windows Media Player, Winamp, CoolPlayer, and other software. You can "register" for a free account with

Okay, I've looked through the forums, the NG, and documentation, but don't see reference to this...and the curiosity is killing me. I click the Foreign Relations button at the bottom, then click the Speak To button for any one of the races. Underneath the picture of their representative, there are three buttons. One brings up military information (who they're at war with, etc), one brings up economic information (how much they depend on you for trade, etc), but the middle one just dis

In reading some information on the OS/2 version of GalCiv, I saw that they were planning on creating an option of creating your own starships within the game. Presumably, these new ship types wouldn't be available to the other races, since they were only developed by you. Are there any plans on this for the current GalCiv, or is there any way to create your own .SHIP files that can only be used by Humanity?

If you create a new file, will the game see it (is it only looking for files with certain extentions, like .SHIP)? Also, I've been wondering this ever since I looked through those .SHIP files...if you create a new ship (with a new name on the SHIP line) will the game still see it, or will it only look for a ship that it already knows the name of, like SurveyShip, or SensorDrone? If I create a new ship and name it KrazyKroozer (lol), will the game be able to use it?

Wow...I'm already hooked on the game as it is. These new ships (and the new anomalies and stuff in 2b) really make it hard to do any actual work while I'm in the office. heh Keep up the GREAT work, Stardock! ;)

I'm still quite new at this, so bear with me. In one of my last games, I decided to put a lot of money into espionage. Eventually, I reached a point where I got an "advanced" message, telling me how I have spies in every aspect of their society, I'll know everything that happens, bla bla bla. Here's my question...do I need to *continue* spending on espionage to keep this up? Or, once I've reached that level, can I cut all spending on espionage and still get information? --Ma

This is a *little* off-topic, but speaking of these one-of-a-kind trade goods...has anyone else noticed that the minor races are willing to pay a LOT of money for them? In my game last night, I was going to conquer a system held by one of the minor races, but decided to sell them Ultra Chocolate first (a one-time payment)...they shelled out over 3000 BC for it! Very helpful to my treasury. ;)

Well, I was finally actually able to research Terrorstar technology, and I'm forced to ask...what's it for? It doesn't let you add anything new to your starbases, it doesn't let you build any new ships...in short, now I have this knowledge of how to destroy a star system, but I can't use it? Sure, that would be heartless, cruel, and immensely evil, but isn't that the fun sometimes? ;) Is there something in the works for a future release of GalCiv to actually put Terrorstar technolo

My main point with the subscription was to support the web site, which is an awesome collection of skins. The fact that they "throw in" the SkinBrowser and now some premium skins wasn't my reason for shelling out the money...but we all have our own reasons, I'm sure.
