The only sure-fire way I know of to find out what their up to is to invade their planet.
Undecided
I don't know. I played a game on "Tough" last night and they started going evil. They didn't align, but they were leaning that way. It might have been a random thing, since I got a weird pop-up window saying that "the formerly ethical Iconians are turning to evil". Civilizations will occasionally flip ethical alignments. This is however, ex
because you are the dominant empire, it means your influence is pretty overwhelming I have noticed this before, however a lot of this is due to researching technology that increases your influence. I have NEVER noticed the AI research any of these technologies beyond the first tech (some ambitious AI have been building cultural exchange
I never bother with them. The AI places significant value on them so the price is high, if you want more votes then capture some of their planets.
As long as you research approval technology there is no reason not to change. I always upgrade to at least a democracy. These are powerful technologies and they should not be traded with the AI. i can't see any change in my relations either. You get the diplomatic and influence bonuses after researching the tech. You don't ne
I NEVER upgrade existing ships if there are more than three of that ship type. It's too expensive to be worth it. However, I redesign ships after about three applicable ship components become available and have my planets switch production to the new type. The trick is to make sure that the new generation has the same speed as the old, or to design a completely new ship. Once an old class of ships become obsolete, I decommission them.
I usually conquer half of the races and then ally with the survivors. It makes it more difficult and I don't have to worry about crushing everyone in my path. I crush the civilizations that declare war on me first. I also destroy all minor races.
I'd like to know as well!
I had quite a big grin on my face when I've read that. I was just imaging you as the great-grand dad race with those terrans grand children running to you and criing about the Drath couse they've destroyed their toys. That is what I felt like at the time. Those childish humans, they always get me into trouble...
Put a clock on top of your monitor.
Soldiering also works based on your tech level Soldiering is based on your invasion technology and any race bonuses. Technology is a different category based on overall technology (I think). The advantage factor is these two stats combined with your planetary invasion tactic, using some confusing, yet elegant mathematical equation tha
I agree with all of your proposals Quitch. I have noticed that the AI completly ignores alliances. The last game I played I had the strongest industry and military in the galaxy along with an enormous technological advantage. I was aimiing for a half-diplomatic victory and half-conquest victory (having to conquer half the galaxy makes things more interesting). I had allied with the Terrans (who had few planets and a small, but high tech military) and the Drath kept decla
Try something as simple as giving them hyperdrive and see what happens. I know they will leave their world when they can and I have seen them build starbases, but not colonize (there were no empty planets by then).
undecided... what are you talking about? im on 1.1 and have had them show up, granted, not as much, but ive had them Really? Not counting the economic and xenophobic events I have had one, ONE random event. It was on the last game I played, the intelligence boost that doubles research I think... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2
I want a slider! I miss the good ol' days when random events were commonplace. They were some much fun and I barely got to see any before upgrading to v1.1.
*Sigh * I miss random events... It apears that since v1.1 they have all disapeared... I wonder if v1.2 will have a slider to decide how common random events will be...
Cos I've never noticed any difference whatsoever between sending a freighter to the nearest alien planet and sending one halfway across the galaxy I have noticed that PQ also affects the trade income. This could be due to population or overall income the planet generates, I'm not sure.
The Alliance option apears in the trade menu. Some tips on improving relations: -Give gifts (not too many now!) -Improve diplomatic ability (this also makes your gifts more valuable) -Don't go to war with them (kind of obvious) -Trade with them (the more money your routes are making the happier they will be) - Be the same ethical alignment You don't have to research Xeno Ethics but it helps. Also a good civilization can
if all your planets could turn out one ship per turn each, and your research gave you a new tech every turn with no labs or factorys built on any planet, then what would be the point to developing them further? obviously at this point you would buy embassies and moral boosters would you not? No, I would build tons of research buildings to get 12 tech
Make sure sure your Video card is compatable with DirectX 9.0c (it should say so on the box you got it in).
Does it work now? I have read in a few posts that it didn't... The Galactic Privateer usually works (again around 95% of the time). Trust me its worth it.
The AI never seems to use planetary bonuses. I have seen planets with approval rating bonuses and the AI decided to build factories on them, it then decided to build multi-media centers on the other plain tiles. The AI actually uses the bonus tiles about half of the time. I see this type of mismanagement everywhere and I play games on "challenging". The AI could actually be tough at this level if it actually knew how to build infrastructure. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T
The issue is whether or not to build it on my technological capital. If it is a galactic bonus then I am just wasting space that could be used for an NLC.
Ah thank you, I can't believe I didn't see that.
I have restarted many times because I knew I would lose.
