Sadly, I don't use Mac, so I can't really help you there. But yeah, there are quite a lot of Dwarf Fortress players around here, I think. It should be up the Stardock fans alley.
Our goal is to avoid abstracting your armies. If you zoom in, you will be able to see that every person in your army is different (even if it’s just cosmetic) to help send home the point that these virtual people are part of your cause. How will this impact the engine and loading these models into memory? I love having individual models for each unit, but won't you hit the 2 gb ceiling very fast or do you have a strategy already to

I stopped caring about what categorization companies themselves put on products these days long ago. Even Mass Effect 2 is labeled as a RPG, if you ask Bioware themselves.
I'm all for this. Screw the egalitarians. They don't live in the real world anyway. I'd cringe every time someone suddenly had a baby like it was a big surprise. "Hey, look what fell out of me today! A baby! Let's ship it off to the nearest castle to be raised. I have a dungeon to raid." If players end up valuing men and women differently for different reasons and purposes in the end, all the better.
I think there are some definitely some fantasy TBS games, including the newish King's Bounty series King bounty : the legend and King bounty: armored princess are RPG
In what world? Certainly not in this one.
Anything not actually based on games.
Tough. I'll go with.. "Champions". "Hero" has a nice ring to it, but it has a bit of an alignment component to it and having a multitude of them just sounds odd. "Champion" is a bit more universal.
It'd be like playing Tony Hawk: Pro Skater without skateboards. Just.. no.
You mean as opposed to the lists that are full of random shooter #9284904393, right? Nothing bland about that at all.
Wait, what? No, of course not. Shooter #9284904393 is exactly what I'm talking about. Shooters are about as bland as bland can get, since it appeals to the widest possible market by debasing a concept to something that we can all relate to; Adrenaline and pretty colours. And that just sucks.
Fetch me.. a shrubbery! Also, at least one of quest absolutely must contain a Gazebo.
I hate to disagree with someone with such a sweet avatar, but I actually prefer the "current" system, in which talents and weaknesses are one-shot seperate things. I cannot explain why, but it just feels more RP-ish than Min-Max-ish. I realize that applying your system would possibly allow for much more customization, but it also feels like that customization would matter far less.
In Elemental, stacks are "armies" but another way to think of them is as "baskets". Do you put all your eggs in one basket in a game where wizards can cast volcanoes and wipe out the entire army at once?
....I may. [e digicons]8|[/e]
I always run my games as bare-bone as possible. The fact that Steam has to be on is a huge turnoff for me (along with many other issues). I don't think Impulse actually do anything once you've started a game. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Quoting Unicorn McGriddle, reply 11 KillzEmAllGod, why would we WANT to keep large stacks out of Elemental? Should every tactical battle be a small engagement? Should a war be decided by a long string of tiny battles, or a handful of major ones? Not saying they should keep large stacks out just saying who has the most of x powerful units would most likly win but we will see h

Between the first and third, I can definately see difference, especially on your jaw/neck.
I want to chime in and just say that I do prefer squares and I am sad to see Civ5 moving in this direction. They proceed to use the room as an Elemental type game for several months before realizing the game is not a game at al
As long as silly is serious, I'm all for it. Silly shouldn't be "lolrandum" stupid-silly, it should be in the context of what is serious. I.e, silly shouldn't downplay the seriousness.
I am sorry. I have to say this. Every time I see the second concept art image, all I'm seeing is a dead man-horse with blue jeans and blonde hair.
