oh and ALSO i have been thinking about the idea of getting rid of the miniaturization techs, and i actually reallly like it. I dont know how the AI would respond to everything. we would probably have to delicately up the AI importance value on all the hull techs, but this idea is actually very good, despite my initial ignorant blasting of it. It would definitely make the newer hulls more important then the previous ones. If i can ever get my basic idea put out there id like to mess around wi

ok so i lied. i definitely already went through the RaceConfig.xml file. I was thinking you meant the .costomracexml file which i cant edit. Or if i can i cant open with the program i have. Does anybody know anything that could help me out? im bumbed that i cant make those three hulls disappear. It totally ruins my mod to have these HUGE 80 size hulls available from the beginning.
yeah what ive been doing is messing with the ShipComponents.xml file. I still am having trouble with it though. Ive Modified all the ships to have enhanced varied attributes. ex. Intrepid gets extra speed. Defiant increased space for weapons but more expensive. that sorta thing. What iv tryed to do also is make the cargo hulls available after some easy research. and I've made the first tear cargo hull size 30 instead of the ridiculous 80. Except there are these three pesky cargo hulls tha
I completely agree and LOVE all the above suggestions... But just for the record. Non of these ideas are new. We have been asking for a starbase system like this for years. literally... I got this game back in '06 and I've been pleading (along with many others) for this ever since. I just hope this next expansion will do the Starbase justice. It was this very issue that caused me to stop playing. So devs, Please take note. This issue IS one that causes players to put the game away. Its
I would love it if we were allowed to have two screens with two different locations doing things, however, i understand that that might be unfair in multiplayer. So id settle for one screen showing all the statuses and the other giving orders.
Here are some ideas i have for a pirate economy 1. Pirates should get their income from bounties, black market, and some blood money on the side cause they are organized crime after all... 2. They should have to build (pay for) their own ships. I wouldn’t mind if their ships were, on average, cheaper then a normal player. They are scoundrels after all with alot less red tape. This will aslo mean they value the worth of their ships. Suicide missions should only be attempted
Oh we have plans....many, many plans. Hehehe.
:CONGRAT: I want it NOW!! :d
I think it would be cool to be able to buy out the nuetral factions or pirates gaurding nuetral systems kind of like in Rise of Legends. I also think the minor races should be in control of the world so start out with, so you have to take them out to get the world.
I totally agree with this. It would be EASY to make the symbol that appears on this ship appear over the planet. This way it is OBVIOUS to those new comers that all the planets are already colonized, but make
My idea regarding this has to do with a potential "Militia" planetary infrastructure upgrade. This would allow the planet to deploy a small fleet of ships to slow down any invading force... This would hopefully allow your planet to hold out for a little longer while you respond with a defense fleet. The upgrade could be an expensive one to prevent it from being abused early in the game...
GREAT IDEA! I would love to see a planetary upgrade that deployed deffensive ships
First off, i realize this request is big. So i dont realistically expecti it to be in the next version. But i want to put it out there. The Pirates NEED to have thier own Economy. They need to follow rules like the rest of us. They should get their in come from the bounties we put up and from the black market. Plus maybe a little blood money on the side, since they are organized crime of course. This would make their whole existance sooo much more palatable to so many players. I love the
yes... i know thats what you want. go do a search of the forums. that idea is neither new nor likely to happen. The plea for colonizable moons has been around for a long time and some very good arguments against such things have also been around for a long time. do some research then bring something new to the table. I do like moons and id like to see them happen but rehashing the same old discusion wont make it happen. come up with something that will make the devs think, remember it is th
i like them having the armor they have. I do not want to see them nerfed, however, i think a lagit solution would be to make them slower. I have had similar problems. I have sent a fleet after them and they always seem to out run me. even my light frigs cant quite keep up. I think making them slower would go along way to helping, because then even if they do kill your planet you can at least chase them down and serve them some vengence.
Ok so i got tired of reading the same things over and over. I had the same problem at first, but then i realized i was being DUMB, placing all my gaus guns out of range of my planets. If you place 10-15 guas guns with in rang of the planet, along with a few hangers, that easily takes care of even 20+ seigers. especially if you have the gaus gun upgrades! if your current stratagy isnt working come up with one that does, that is what is sooo very AWESOME about this game, its about stratagy. Y
remember that whatever side of the grav well you leave from is the side of the grav well youll arive at. if you want to attack from different angles have part of your fleet jump out to the right of the phase lane, and have the other part jump to the left of the phase lane. This is also good for cutting off an enimy retreat. If you see what thier angle of departure is you can have a bunch of ships waiting at the exact point they will jump in at.
And it's good to see a UCI student here... I graduated in 05 myself. I had a roommate who was majoring in Astrophysics, but he was a legitimate idiot.
Zot Zot Zot...
If not, then what about the idea of putting a colonizable moon around the Gas Giant planets that are currently not colonizable? Maybe not even colonizable, but defensable... like say you can build some sort of base or something that allows you 10-15 slots for turrents, repair stations etc. [
I personally am very happy with the game and how well thought out it is. However i am very much looking forward to seeing a story line come out of this. I have to say i am normally not much of a campaign guy but from the moment i read the lor i reallly was looking forward to playing the story out. it was a disapointment when i heard the devs were not going to have a campaign ready for release. I do TOTALLY understand why and agree with thier descision. However im still paciantly awaiting th
As far as i know there are no moons currently implemented but i think that there should be some. In RL most planets with any significant gravity have moons, our solar system alone has more than 40.
and ALL of them except ~6 (including our own) might as well be astroids. thats what moons normally are. Look at Mars, 2 moons, both astroids. Ours moon is EXTREAMLY odd, it was formed by a collision between two planets. Im an Astrophysics major at UCIrvine and there as deff
Since the Pirates do not have an economy right now, this is PRIME real estate for Star Dock and Iron Clad's famous updates. I don't mind them cheating for now, but in the long run, with them really being a player in their own right, they REALLY do need to have rules that they follow. An economy of their own and motivations from self preservation to greed would GREATLY enhance the game play. What do all you think about how a Pirate economy should work?
wow, I've been a beta tester for almost a year and i didnt know there was a sub-category section if you scroll down... thanks for the info, i feel dumb. However it would be good to make something a little more proponent for those knew to the site who done quite know their way around yet.
There is plenty of discussion in the forums about Love/Hate of the pirates. What I want to talk about is specifically the Pirate’s Economy. The devs have mad a big deal about how the AI does not cheat. But what about the pirate AI. Does it need money from the bounties to build ships? Do they get a cut from any black market transactions? How do they seem to start with so many ships? It would make sense to me that the pirates need to make money to build ships. Yes, the pirates were
We need a "Stratagies" or something section of the forums to discuse specific stratagies. Basically a place that is not in the "general" bucket of everything to talk about the playing the game.
Hey I pre-ordered a long time ago, and only ordered the basic digital download. How do I upgrade it to get the CD. Or even beter get the Gold edition??
SEEE just like i said! As i was typing, they showed you they care! ;-) Thanks Blair for your response, it shows that were getting WAY more then we payed for.
As a beta tester who has been with this project for almost a year, I have come to absolutely LOVE the pirate idea. I didnt like it untill I came to understand the Lor of the game. Then it makes compleat sense and actually works to balance the gave very nicely. While I too agree that the preset frequency of the pirate attacks is a little on the quick side, that is easily fixed. I have no doubt that in the next patch it will be tweeked with. that is the GREAT thing about the companies you cho
I probably should have said this earlyer, but the machein i was running the game on is a laptop with sub par stats. It was probably running slower then most computer will run the game, the thing i was concerned about though was the rather larg difference between normal resoures and high resoures. It is possible that it was that specific map or somthing. It just seemed i was constantly waiting for my economy to slowly catch up to whatever i was wanting to build next.
