it's usually too late by the time the galactic guide book becomes available anyway.

heh, I need to work more on creating elaborate designs. Also, Blackrock, having Kryo's hull mod does help, although I think those were made without the mod.
Yea I know, but the AI could have just not allied anyway and fought each other. At first I was allying with several others because the other races were percieving the Altarians as a growing threat, but they ended up allying with the Altarians anyway thats why it just didn't make much sense to me.
/bumpage for good measure to get it up on the forums
In most games I've had, the races tend to ally with everybody, creating a deadlock on bieng able to declare war. In my last game, I had all victories except conquest victory disabled, on normal difficulty (which I generally play on), and large galaxy. Even though there were some wars early on, later the other civs started allying with each other and this really ended up bieng to my advantage because with everybody in one huge alliance, nobody was able to declare war on each other. Sure there was
I got the "Colonies for Entire Tech Tree" event the last game I played, but was unable to actually do anything in response. It popped up at the start of the New Turn processing, got dismissed by the GNN and other event screens, and by the time I was able to contact the minor race in question, they just looked at me like I was crazy when I tried to trade with them. </T
why are you so worried about finding all the core ships? they all suck except for the colonizer and constructor right at the beginning, and I usually just obsolete core designs because they'd otherwise clutter the Shipyard screen and the starport governor screen. Also, as far as finding out what the enemy has in thier fleets, I use scout ships (which are blank cargo hull ships crammed with sensors, if you don't have Kryo's hull mod, just use whatever cargo class ship is available) to
try reinstalling SDC? although you probably did that. even though I'd like to help, I have no idea what the problem could be or how to fix it
I don't know, and its probably not likely you can do that. One of the expert modders around here would be able to ask this better than I can.
6)Give them useless technologies. I normally give them things like the farming upgrades...they never build farms anyway what ya talking about? they do build farms, sometimes too many on a planet.
sounds like you're doing pretty well. Probably should say about how your economy is going because its easy to do it badly if you're not sure what to do.
Going neutral and rushing to NLCs can be dangerous. They're expensive, and if you over do it, you can fall behind militarilly. On thing that is always good is to pick at decent planet (pq 16+) for your tec capitol and build as many research as it'll support. (you'll want 1-2 factories until you top out with discovery spheres or NLC) I tend to quick b
yea the Korx are wierd looking, I've always wondered where the hell thier mouth is. and IMO the Minor races could use some more unique racial images, the only ones with an unique image are the Dark Yor (which look more like skeletal robot things than War Robots. although the image used may well be a diplomatic unit) and the Snathi, the rest of them use variations of 3 racial pics. For the I-League, maybe have something like a random image of the existing races in the galaxy
yeh those Torian frogs (well they are amphibious and look a little like a frog. and nothing against you Frogboy ) breed fast and spread quickly, so they tend to end up bieng a powerful race.
yea, keep the forums! like so many said, having a games own forum gives a sense of community. yes there will always be ppl making negative comments, that's life since not everybody will be satisfied. the forum does have its quirks, but I like this forum and it has been improved. plus it sounds like you guys have a new forum setup on the way.
nah, I don't really want to have more micromanagement. Sometimes though if the scout ship that I'm using isn't particularily fast and has a long range, I pretend that the crew goes into cryogenic stasis. Either that or its a completely robotic ship. although cryogenic stasis sounds cooler having heroes like captains, fleet captains, or even admirals which are very experienced and add
I'm actually in the middle of what was a 8 civ game. The torans were talking trash so i attcked them, then the Iconains declared war on me in honor of their alliance with the torians. The great thing was, that when the iconains declared war on me, the rest of the civ's declared war on them and/or the torians. Full on interstellar war, it was great!
yes they do, especially against a common threat or between similarily aligned races. Doesn't usually start happening until mid or later game. also, what version are you using? maybe you need to update.
I've seen it too. for example with a minor race which I knew had built an economic capitol, but when I conquered it, it was filled with mostly research buildings, so I had to demolish them and rebuild it into a proper economy planet. another was a class 5 world and each square had a bonus (class 5 worlds often have this), and every square had a farm on it, pfft. so the AI still acts stupid as far as planetbuilding. and this is on normal difficulty the AI still ac
its not really a bug, its just the way it works, look at what you have selected, that race is not enabled and it only adjusts those that are enabled, but since its a random choice of races, they will all be set to the intelligence level according to the difficulty.
I'm not sure if I have noticed it. however on a related thing. one of the Yor hulls, the small one I believe that looks like it has vertical wings on the sides. on one side the hardpoints are a bit sunken in and its hard to see them, but they are there.
/bump for good measure
Looks like I reproduced it with a new game, this time its luckily one that I had saved from last night and its not that far behind. compare the last time I CTDed: https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=274&AID=121630#942669 now compare the last several lines of this debug err from my game: Debug Message: Random Event: Begin Debug Message: Random Event: End Debug Message: BuildShip: Cannot build ship type 6-Frigate M11-3 at Haber III - No open slots Debug
er, larger pic please.
I believe that minor races cannot be culturally flipped. While the riot chance does start at 4.0, it takes a while if its at that point, however if the influence (in my experience) is raised higher up to 6.0 or so, it'll happen pretty fast. There are other factors that make it easier or harder to flip a planet. A little more info could help, like the race whether its a minor or major race.
