Curious is the weather control tech is retroactive yet, but not a big deal if not; we're still in early beta.
As I understand, the tech now comes with a planet structure that improves PQ.
A new victory condition! For gods sake, are you trying to make the best game in all creation or something.
I'm sure they aren't trying. Isn't that what GalCiv 3 is for?
I've already looked at some of the xml code already. Each race apparently gets their own file for tech trees. It looks like the different races can import techs from the "default" tech tree. You can even rename the techs and description in the process, or even edit other details such as prerequisites. Here, you can even add in race specific techs. Look for your self:* C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Twilight\Data\English\TechTrees *I'm assuming you in
I haven't been liking this game very much. I ofcourse am not a fan of multiplayer games. As I was saying. It feels like it takes too much time to finish a game. When you have effectively won, it takes a while to finish. Then again, maybe I should play some more and try to figure out how finish off the AI quicker.
...In other words, I'm almost always uncomfortable when I find myself in a majority...
You can't always avoid crowds and people (I've tried). Just be satisfied that you are in good company.
The other thing is customer loyalty. We're kind of like dogs, you see...
I like to think of myself as a cat. You don't get my affection unless you earn it.
We also will have a surprise announcement in the coming weeks - a new game mechanic along with a new winnning condition will be introduced in Twilight.
Is it going to involve terror stars?
What's the difference between disabling the random events and just choosing the neutral option, which usually has no penalty?
Without the button, the random events will occur. It feels really out of character to start out as a good race, select neutral options for a while, and go back to good. That, and how random events seem lack something beyond a few clicks of a mouse. I myself didn't see a big deal with the "no tech trading button", but apparently s
They want to go home? Don't you guys have slave pits down there, or are you guys getting soft?
You can achieve this yourself by researching "Xeno Ethics".
I always research "Xeno Ethics" early in the game. What I want is some way to get around the broken "random ethical events" that occur until then.
I don't know the answer to that question. I would say later today, but I have no power over when the next beta is going to be released.
A bunch of stuff seems to be missing, including terrorstars. Make a list these missing items, and if these are not fixed next beta, point them out.
Really all you'd need would be an option to specify one-per-ship in the xml.
I suppose I could get away with a single one-per-ship price reduction part, but that wouldn't give me the ability to generate a whole category. If I could manipulate a whole category, I could do more complex ship modding. By the way, do you have any idea why ship appearance and function are integrated? What I mean is, I can design my ships appearance, but then, once I'm done, I then need
Big surprize folks, the poll is currently one-sided, favouring a latter release date.
I was thinking earlier today about the TA expansion and creating custom races with custom tech trees. I then decided that I wanted to update a custom race I made a while back, that was designed to be a master of military starbases. After some thinking, I decided that a useful tech would be "cheaper small ship construction" that would provide access to a cheaper versions of tiny and small hulls. The idea was to make smaller ships easier to mass produce, but this created a new problem. To
As many of you know, there are random ethical events. As you should know by now, "good" choices are ussually punished, and "evil" choices gets the full rewards. Like many of those before me, I'm asking for changes. Like the "disable tech trading" button, and the "disable minor races" button (which later became a slider), I'm looking for a "disable random ethical events". Since the devs don't seem to think this needs "fixing", I would atleast like to be able to avoid this problem comple
To let you know, ethics in this game is broken, though the devs might argue otherwise. So if you see something weird with the ethics, you shouldn't be surprised. One such example is how "good" is usually punished by random event, while "evil" ussually ends up with the full benefits.
Just curious ... how do you find it easier?
I don't know about him, but I find that certain good tech can provide you with +35% defense bonus (+5% for 3 techs, +20% from a special good structure), and a +5% hitpoints. This useful if you are skilled at making ships with strong defenses.
Hopefully TA will change this, it's one of my biggest annoyances in Gal Civ2 that the ethics (esp post ethics tech choice) are no where near balanced.
I don
Take a look at the Gameplay example posted. The tech is now (in Stardock's internal test version)...
I've looked at that post not to long ago. Looks like weather control is going to get a boost. Still, I wonder how many player will try to take advantage of a +30% PQ bonus on a small map (and fail miserbly)?
I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed and though about this? The tech "Weather Control" provides a +10% bonus to PQ quality. This means that if you started out with PQ +20%, you would get a PQ bonus of +30%. For those of you who don't know what that means, it means that when you colonize a planet, for every 3.33 tiles the planet has, it will gain another tile. For instance: Class 4 --> Class 5 Class 7 --> Class 9 Class 10 --> Class 13 Class 14 --> Class 18<br
I had a similiar crash, but it was when I was invaded, and I had bought a custom ship. Apparently, the game crashes the next turn because that ship is supposed to be finished (at least thats what I suspect is the problem).
If anyone can think of a solution, please post it.
This is what I've heard, but I've never needed to use it... Downloading using stardock central is a fairly automated process, it gets the files and installs them. All you have to do is click the download button. However, as you are aware of, you need a good internet connection for this. An alternative method is download the files from somewhere else, and then use a cd, or something to move the files to y
Hmm... I ran into a comical bug with this new update. Nothing serious, it just got my attention. What I believe to have caused the problem was, the drengin traded "Xeno Trade Centers" for "Ion Drive". Apparently, that tech, and everything after it, was moved to the bottom of the screen, separate from everything else. <img src="http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/7268/errortabeta1b01sh9.th.
I noticed that too, odd. You can exploit the evil xeno ethics because once you research xeno ethics, it gives you the psyonic beam right of the bat. (I like that exploit)
I Hadn't noticed. I kinda made the whole galaxy go boom before the thought crossed my mind.
+ New Race Specific Improvements added
I found something bizzare today. The "Arena of Agony" seems to be considered old when the "Arena" is avialable. This is kind of odd, because you start with Arenas, and need to research Arenas of Agony. Also Arenas of Agony is the better structure based upon the .xml file. Starting at line 1963: --Edit: quoting .xml files don't seem to work. ________________ On a side note, is the planet improvements that the
Because I'm bored, I'm going to start a game. Here is how it works. You can either: -Pick a civ, and make a guess as to what might they hand out for Holloween. -Alternatively, you can pick a civ and decide as to what you would hand out if you were one of them. ________________ (Me as Korx) Now if you don't mind me, I need to go out and steal candy from some kids. I need some candy to hand out for holloween, and I'm too cheap to buy it.
