I like the power plant ideas in the ship, but the fuel idea would make the game realy logisticaly complex, limiting the number of ships you can build and maintain. It brings up some problems (Interesting how they would effect game play!.)If say your main fuel planet gets vaped by the enemy for whatever reason would the ships supported by it be able to continue or would they just become dead in space? Like i said the whole fuel idea, while good, IMO would make the game require too much m

Finding ship's is really great. It's even better when there tech's are only up to the midranged hull sizes. Here's the story right, I was playing a bunch of normal guys and the korx and yor were completly gone, and they kept finding Precursor Corvette's n stuff and I was getting anouyed that I never got anything, then next turn I randomly found a Ranger... it was pritty sweet! there kinda KICK ASS!!! I did... On a Normal Dificulty Medium sized map in 1.31 I just got them all to like me somehow by having a huge ass millitary and not attacking anyone, and being a good civ and letting them all wipe eachother out of existance, then the remaining guy's I just hit ally with to see if i could because I was bored and wanted to end, and they accepted and I won the game. I played my next game on Suicidal to try it out and they were ALWAYS Wary of me... I couldnt get it any higher...

Anybody had any of those random Flukes from either the UP or just an event that leed's to you winning in some way? I just finished a 5 hour long game on a Med map with 3 Suicidal oponents and they were kicking my ass right I had next to no millitary, was waaayyy behind in tech and only had three planets), being the first time playing on suicidal and all that and well then I got given the UP HQ on Earth, and over the next year I managed to win Culturaly... Which was pritty lucky, because

Your argument makes sense satthukaraoke, but the inbalance of the game is what makes it so much fun! I've developed a stratergy that works against this, sounds like you need it: Get a Large hull say, and with your max miniturisation ability, you nearly completly pack out all of your free space (after life support, lots of senseors and your engins) with the best defences avalible, for all catagorys that the other race's use. Since a small hull has only 6hp, what you then want to

Im with the "Dont ask" (+70%) Population bonus, it works sooo well in my mind, coz it's better than the econ bonus in every way. People = Econ, so yeah winner for pop! Fate,

I personaly love the tricked up Fighter trick, because even with a miniture logistics leval, if you have say 4 tiny ships onto one medium, or 6 tricked up tiny's onto 2 mediums then the triked up tinys are going to win, because simply put they can target more things. Thats why fighters are so good, you can only destroy them one at a time aswell, which makes it even better! And yes, I agree. there fighter hordes can be anouying, even when your ships smash them without a casualty <img src

I agree, partol routes would eliminate the need for alot of micromanagment that can take a long time to do per turn. Fate,

I normaly get such a high tech rating and soldering rateing that I just use the Information thing, and get more guy's for my team, because the AI never build up there planets with population... or anything for that matter! The Libersio plan as we now know it is really really good, simple way to win kudos for figureing that one out mate! Fate,

I've had the one happen were it let me go one over my placment limit hapen before, the only peice that it has ever let me do it with was Hyperwarp II, I needed a plug filler and that was it, so I chucked it on and then relised that it was one to big, but it went on anyway. I saved the design and it was there working and i could build it. I'm going to take a guess seeing as im no modder and don't know the codeing of the game or anything, but maybe the size that it display's and the size

wtf noob.... thats just gay, get it out of here Oh yeah, with the hollow ship designs thats a pritty sweet Idea, I normaly just hide ugly stuff that I dont like by rotating it inside the peices, i never actualy thought of creating hollow ships, like I said, thats sweet, im going to try it out! In every game I have ever played, in every version (tech trading on) the AI have all chosen to go the missile path, I presumed that this was because missile's are so much stronger than beam and mass driver, and it did get kind of anouying at predictable, They did however attempt to research whichever defencive technology I was making my offensive tech's, as I was the strongest. Pritty easy gameplay, and it did get anouying. Fate,

Moving part's is a really good idea, I especily like a few points you put up there like Wepon tracking targets, i just hate watching wepons fire at 150 degress to were they are pointing and hit a target, its just painful. The Elite Unit's colouring is a great idea, sometimes you get half way threw a game and you think of a new colour scheem that would look great, but you cant use it because you have these generic colour's that you picked at the begining, It'd make controling your ships

It wouldn't necessarily "need" more than that... mineaturization bonuses will affect a "GIANT" hull like any other. If you get a huge hull to go from 80 to 150, a 120 space giant hull should go to 225. If you start with 170, it goes to 319, which is getting to the point where it would take too much time to put all the danged systems on the hull!

18 Replies 19,871 Views

A Gigantic sized hull would be sweet, but there would have to be a limit as to how many could be made aswell as a huge time limit, say like one. And when you have the best Miniturisation, Huge hulls end up haveing 150 spaces anyway, so It would need more than that, im going to go out on a limb and get shot down by the pro's and say somthing starting on 170 maybe and with the good miniturisation going on to 210+ That would be sweet, although I'm not sure about you guys, but im min

You all see what the bot's do right? Well I do anyway because I like keeping an eye on what they do, and 'borrowing' there tactics, to an extent. Anyway like I was saying. The AI have the same hull for a ship, but instead of deleating old designs and so on they simply add a mark onto it. For example Frigate M1-09 or somthing like that. I simply took that and used it in my ship designs, in a game im currently playing and have won in every posibly way (were have all the end game movies go

I agree with No118, keeping the trade route untill the war starts is normaly what I would do, otherwise while there damaged they try to prepare for what is normaly an easy to pick attack, its just like telling the bot your about to attack them, and there smart anough to know it.
