Also, I've wanted to get one race to go to war with another, but on the trade screen when i click on "attack" that other race's name does not appear at all. So how do i get them to decalre war? You don't. Most likely the two races are friendly (sometimes only needs to be "warm") or they have treaties between them. If you can get one of the two races to "finish off" another

Had to work on mine for a couple of weeks before she gave in. Only managed it after agreeing to the new pram she wanted for the youngster I've got her sucked into Graphic Design. I bought her a printer this last Christmas. When I was moving the computer around a couple of wee

The Krynn are the absolutely most pathetic race in my current game. Boxed into a corner and getting beat up on by the same people everyone else is pounding. It's the Torians who have been exploding across the galaxy. I would be more impressed if they didn't have large numbers of planets with nothing but 6B people on them and empty build queues though....Yes, Suicidal and they have had the planets for at least a year.

IMO If there is any truth to what Livonya posted it seems that there are two different goals winning the game and scoring. It definatly seems as if the scoring can be manipulated and therefore it becomes it's own challenge. Exactly! There are multiple ways to do it too. I mostly agree with what Livonya wrote, but I also disagree with some of the things he wrote...I just took a different path to 500K is all. For instance, und

So when are you going to finally upgrade that bit of copper you have there Purge Expressed in purest GREEN (pardon the Torian pun- I mean i am a little envious

I picked up a new keyboard, mouse and a nice big LCD screen (Viewsonic VG2021m) over the last couple of days...I can't express how nice it is to finally junk my 10 year old 17 inch CRT from two computers ago (w/tax $880 at the time), for a nice brand new 20 inch viewable LCD. The Torians are dying in nice vivid new ways and the world has many new colors! Mag's medal is now rich gold instead of some shade of yellowish orange! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gi

I prefer a throne to being thrown. Arceans dead. Krynn dead. I've tricked the Torians into declaring war on the galaxy, while I line up troop ships for them. Life is good!

But I think that since we all have the maximum RAM for our motherboards that helps more than anything else. Not to be a pest here Cari, but are you basically saying that the bottom line is it is all about the RAM when it comes to this game (aside from graphics cards of course). If so then I would assume that the root of my problem is 'probably' due to only having one gig of RAM, regardless of what I set v

I believe I only asked for the rules to be the same for the AI as for the human player. If they don't want to change the way the AI values trades, that is fine. If they want to make the AI a smarter trader, that is fine as well. Just make it treat the human the same way as another AI on both the offer and accept side of the deal. <img onload="setImageSize_onLoad(650,this);" src=

The Diplomats are absolutely flush with GC I retreads (includes me, I just didn't metaverse post at the time)...I think it's actually harder to find a Diplomat who didn't play GC I, than the other way around.

I think you misunderstood what I said. I didn't say that the AI gives special treatment in terms of trading to the other AIs that it won't give the player. All I meant was that the AI offers 1 - 1 trades to the other AIs and to the player using the same rules. Now if the AI won't accept that exact same trade if made by the player with the exact same bonuses to diplomacy and such then this is indeed a bug. However before you start poundi

Actually the AI treats the player no different then any other player in the game. So they don't give each other better deals then they are willing to give to you. This is simply wrong. The AI regularly makes one for one trades. You can look in the debug.err file in the DA directory and see exactly what trades the AI makes. It ONLY makes one for one trades amongst itself. It even occasionally offers a one for one

If you haven't already, run msconfig (it's built in, just start->run->msconfig->startup tab) and review what is starting up on your system. There is often a thing or two you can out and out whack. I also kill everything not needed for GC II prior to launching. Leaves me with 1.8Gb+ real memory free before starting the game. This was helping a lot on DL. DA does appear to require more than DL though.... <img src="http://altmeta2.thegalac

I actually think the issue is that you shouldn't have received the pop-up box at all. It seems to me that if you are a good race, you should be just as affected by the Altarian super-ability as all the other good races. This would be another big negative to playing a good race though.

The AI will not tend to trade away weapons technology. There have been hundreds of threads over the months discussing how players simply would build up their diplomacy and crush the AI by getting all the weapons techs they needed. A player managing to get, for instance, Phasors technology in exchange for a ton of good but non-military techs is still the path to disaster. Obviously the case where a player is willi

All you have to remember is that the AIs are the same at Suicidal as they are at crippling / painful. They just get some big bonuses and don't have to worry about economy etc. They still play the same game - just a bit faster Learn how to slow them down, and to use their own abilities against th
