More individual and group competition medals might help as well. It true that metals are nothing more than little trinkets on your post, but there is still some sense of accomplishment (and lets not discuss the real importance of computer games on the grand scale of things )...For instance: 1st, 2nd, 3rd and top 10 highest scoring game medals for each map/difficulty size. 1st, 2nd, 3rd

That so deserves to have a great conspiracy theory written about it! I guess I may have to do something useful tonight instead of starting up a new game...

That makes sense and matches what I see. Clearly all of these things increase over time so it's inevitable that they will be at their highest only towards the end of the game, but the true high scoring strategy is one that attempts to maximize these categories throughout the game, not one that, for example, wins the game first then tries to crank out a few extra f

Industry can be particularly crippling. If the AI needs to go up more than one type of Industrial building, it all but shuts down everything else while it is trying to jump multiple levels of upgrade. It does it in some bizarre fashion too. I often see some planets with multiple IC's that look pretty good, while nearby planets haven't even completed a single IC upgrade. I suspect it is buying them outright on a single planet until is upgraded and burning up all it's extra cash doing so (suic

E-stab, I copied your post over into the core forum just to make sure someone over there picked it up. BTW make sure you dump your cache as well. This causes me problems every now and then.

From the 508K game (v1.4)on finish. My actual income is 1,077,002bc (didn't pull the gross, so this includes tourism, etc. and includes an economic event) Military is 3,267,366 Population 8.514 Trillion Research 13,076 Obviously I passed on research in favor of economics and military...I was burning something like 700-800K bc a turn in military maintenance.

So are as I can tell scoring is derived from the area under the curve divided by some factor (geometric?, definitely not arithmetic) related to the number of turns you have played. The four things that the area under the curve is checked for: Population Tech Research (points contributed, not items researched) Military Rating Gross Economic Income In terms of points, I agree that the 100% economic bonus outweighs anything you get from the other alignments in ter

Another reason is one word. Overqualified. I couldn't be hired as the greeter at the local Walmart because no one in their right mind could expect that I wouldn't leave the instant something better came along. The same thing happened here in the SF Bay Area. People who were highly skilled could not get jobs at the local retailer...Because they d

Mumble, my last comment was meant to be an extension of what you said, not a contradiction. Forums are clumsy tools sometimes. Edit: Remembering that this is an open forum, I thought the addendum appropriate. I have seen enough comments by you to know you believe in the value of work and that you get it for lack of a better phase offhand.

Peasants of the world unite! As I tell my wife, one of the hardest lessons of life to learn is that it is not fair. It never will be, and you should never expect it to be fair. Once you've truly absorbed that lesson you are a lot happier and a lot better prepared to deal with the real world. In part, because you become a lot more willing to assume responsibility for making the best out of what

Tried building the slave centre on DA beta 2b and it didn't do a thing, no military production bonus at all. One to add to the bug list I think. It is easy to miss the effects in 1.4. Not sure if this is the problem or not... It will not show in the planetary details screen, or anywhere else for that matter, but if you check the act

So compared to my mother, the comparable house in the Boston suburbs is closer to ten times my income and my total tax burden is closer to 40% of my income. Believe me, the $8,000 a year my mom earned in 1965 far exceeds the $120,000 per year I earn today. One of the biggest fallacies promulgated by the Republicans is that folks like me are "rich". It couldn't be fu

Since they are supposed to represent regional economies, I always thought of them as informational and financial trade centers, which is much more than just a stock exchange or trade center. Looking at our current world, all first world countries derive more than half their economies from this type of thing...Makes it not so hard to believe when put into a larger context. But then back to the subject of one man's cheese is another's valid tactic...Oh, wait, I was already there!

Good could really use something though. Right now good is a real handicap. Shouldn't your people be happier and more willing to work for the benefit of your society? I would hate to think that evil people find the same satisfaction out of their behavior as the good (although reality may differ with that viewpoint). I mean I actually play the Torians and drive them all the way over to evil to get the bonuses out of alignment that I want! Maybe an outright + to their diplo

If your time to production on a ship is never you probably need to revisit the economics tab. Make sure you have some percent of resources allocated to military production...While learning to play, it might actually be smart to make sure that none of the sliders in the economic tab are set to zero.

Ok say your military production bonus is 30% then you finish the slave centre would your new bonus be a total of 45% or 80%? If your military bonus is 30%, then your production is (130*1.5)=195% So applied to both your base 100% and your additive bonuses. Typically bonuses are only additive, or 130+50=180% As you can see, t

This is really an extension of the strategy I used on the 394K game, plus a few things I picked up from others in the private area. If any of our members haven't read the recent conversations over there, do so. I outlined my strategy on the previous game. Along with that, there have been some really good things floated out there by others. I'll see what else I can add.

Got it in one. It will even creep up as you improve your morale techs and snag those galactic morale resources. I believe that if you decommission a farm and next turn it once, this will immediately reduce your population to the new planetary max and improve morale as well. Haven't done this in a while, so I'm not sure if the drop off is slow or immediate. Happened to just be hanging out... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmid
