People are only good for taxes and troops, absolutely no relationship to the number of build structures. So long as your population is growing, the morale will keep decreasing. This can only be countered by either obtaining techs/galactic morale resources/buildings to improve morale, or by reaching the planetary cap (thus stopping population growth). Edit...Or by putting people on a colony or transport ship, thus reducing the population.

Slave Center is a hard coded (not otherwise visible) 50% bonus to military production. It is applied after all bonuses. So it applies to your other bonuses as well.

Be sure to save the game down before sending everything without a destination to a single location. I tried this a couple of weeks ago and I basically had to reload the game to when I hadn't given the order. If you don't find every star base and remove the auto pilot from them, it seemed to crash the game. Find button works just fine for this...Although I wish there was a button to say ignore this ship until next turn. I end up going to ships I don't want to move over and over again,

I personally find evil to be by far the most powerful alignment. You get: No mercy invasion center (no invasion costs on specials) Slave center (Improves ship building times) Mind control (100% economic boost, despite the description) For the economic or war oriented, these are indispensable. If I were research oriented then Neutral would have more appeal...

There is at least one cause that no one has mentioned and is probably what is setting this off for FC. The AI reacts not only to you being close to his planets, but to you being close to his star bases...Even if he built a star base in your territory or it's in territory you took from the AI. I.E. If he builds a base deep in your territory and you have ships not in planetary orbit near the star base, this will trigger this message in just the same fashion as if you

My for two cents. First, I think it's possible, but harder, Quixen. If you look at my profile, you will see that I also have a number of comparatively small game scores early on. If I where ranking the best for scoring, I think it would go 1.2, 1.4, 1.31. But I am with FC in believing that a 500K game is possible with 1.4.

Many years ago when I worked in a tech support site, we actually had someone call in because every time he tried to put our product floppy in the drive his parrot took it from him. The tech support agent told him to put the parrot in the cage before putting the floppy in the drive...You must be smarter than the bird!!! This tangent now ends

He still goes back and plays colonization for windows...He beats it from starts that I know I couldn't handle. He has tried various new strategy games, but none have stuck like that one. I'm hoping GalCiv might displace it.

My worry is that there are a few (plural) bugs that appear in every game I have played once I started in on a game size huge or larger (1.2-1.4). Ships losing destination points on game load + ship and planet build complete icons on the right side of the screen fail to appear are the most common. I have hesitated to report them formally, because I always seem to be one rev behind, given the time it takes me to play a game... It would be nice, if at some time, the dev team found a reasonable m

The San Francisco bay area. There are some truly excellent restaurants around, especially of the ethnic variety (Italian, Thai, Mexican, Indian, etc.) but don't go looking for a steak house. The steak houses are generally not very good and are overpriced.

I used to get this a lot with IE6 before the site upgrade. I haven't noticed it much since the site upgrade, but then again I have switched to firefox 2.0 as my default on both of my computers (for reasons other than just this site). Since my work computer still has IE6 sp2, I went and tested it. It appears to be fine. The IE7 upgrade can be problematic, but if you are on a pre SP2 version of IE6, that might be worth try...Of course, it could always be some common local environment
