Hear hear. That was totally uncalled for. You know you put out a quality product, and so do we. People like that are nothing but little chattering monkeys flinging their own poo. Thanks for all the hard work.
Remember you can give the Alliance tech to them, and without closing the diplomacy screen propose an alliance next, saving you a few months time.
Thanks, Noctilucus. I didn't know that this was possible. @the_spyder: I find myself in this situation all the time. Once in awhile I will play it out, just to see what the game will throw at me, but usually, I'll retire and start a new game.
Sorry, the link seems to have copied incorrectly. It is "". Still no edit button. :(
You can use the Prnt Scrn function on your keyboard. If you want to post screenshots, you will have to go through another service; Imageshack is one of the most commonly used.
You can have the CD mailed to you. You can pay via PayPal, or contact sales to arrange payment via money order. Here is the link: [link="http://mailto:"]WWW Link[/link]
I believe a time limit was set on editing in one of the more recent updates, though I can't personally attest to any behavior it may be having now since I can edit anything at any time. Is what you're seeing inconsistent with that?
I'm not certain about any time limit per se, but the edit button will disappear (and always has) when another post is added to the thread. I'm sure that this is intended behavior. The issue at hand: The edit button should appear immed
Hello, razorrick. Welcome to the forums. Influence victories are not my forte, but I have enough general knowledge that I think I can help you out.
How do u 'flip' a major or minor race.
First, you can't flip a minor race. To flip a major, you need to have more than 4x the amount of influence that the planet in question is generating. For example, if the planet has 50 influence points, then you will need at least 200 in order to flip it. When you reac
Master Spy really doesn't do anything in and of itself. It simply unlocks a planetary improvement called the Temple of Espionage. It is a galactic achievement, so you can only build one of these. The planet on which it is built will receive a 33% increase to the amount of research being done on that planet. (Presumably because of the info your new 'super spies' are bringing in.) Build it on one of your research worlds, and you will get a nice little bump- the only building that will give you a l
Why is the sky blue?
The blue color of the sky is due to Rayleigh scattering. As light moves through the atmosphere, most of the longer wavelengths pass straight through. Little of the red, orange and yellow light is affected by the air. However, much of the shorter wavelength light is absorbed by the gas molecules. The absorbed blue light is then radiated in different directions. It gets scattered all around the sky. Whichever direction you look, some of this sc
These are really just guesses. It does have some sort of positive effect on combat, but AFAIK, nobody has ever defined exactly what it does.
In the Options/Game screen, UNtick "show GNN News". I believe that this will take care of it. In the same screen, you can also stop the quarterly reports from popping up, and also stop the social event popups.
Interesting. I could see that happening. C'mon, people. We figured out 'luck', we can figure this out too. Is there no one out there who had that 'lightbulb over the head' moment? Anyone else have any idea at all?
I don't think anyone has ever quantified what courage does. It is described as helping a planet's defense, but I think that this is a typo. If you check the debug, the game checks your courage status before beginning *ship to ship* combat. Now, if luck helps with your attack rolls, then perhaps courage helps with your defense rolls. This makes sense to me. You have weapons/luck, why not defense/courage? I have lately been adding courage as a matter of course, if for no other
There are a couple of documented things that will cause the game to crash. Were you by chance building/buying "Gravity Accelerators", or were you trying to fleet a Terror Star? Either of these will crash the game now. Nothing to do about these but not do them at all. This *should* be fixed in the next patch.
In TA, you need to place those agents on another civ's planet(s) in order for them to gain info. The more agents you place with a particular civ, the faster you will gain the intel you want. This is one of the changes re: espionage from DL/DA. You can stop training agents now. 22 should be more than enough to carry you through the rest of the game. Actually, without knowing it, you have done a good thing. Getting an early lead in agents in this game can be very advantageous later on. G
This is a known issue. Nothing to do but manage your battlegroup manually, and wait for the next patch. Sorry.
What you are experiencing may be due to the 'tech cost increase' bug. If a civ has researched planetary invasion before it hits, but no weapons tech, then it will build transports but no warships. Conversely, if a civ has researched weapons techs before, but not planetary invasion, it will build warships but no transports. Once this 'bug' has triggered, it doesn't go away, and the AI's become helpless- unable to afford to research tech.
None that I can think of. Since I picked up TA, I have only played one game of DA. You might be wise to wait until the next patch, as TA still has some 'issues' that need to be ironed out.
Bumping this post. Since espionage is due a revamp in 2.0, and 'soft' espionage is a definite possibility, I think that this small feature will be more useful than ever.
I was revisiting "Arcea's Last Stand", and built a couple of cheap survey ships to snap up all of those sweet anomalies. But when I reached the first one, I got the "only survey ships can explore anomalies" dialogue box. Saving and reloading has no effect. This is new as of the release version; it did not happen in the beta. The ships I built are a tiny hull with only the survey module installed. And yes, I am sure that I used the survey module and not the sensors modul
Yes, you can play in a window. That being said, it is generally suggested to set the in-game resolution to your monitor's resolution. You can alt-tab out to the desktop in a hurry if you hear those footsteps coming. ;)
There is a little proggy that Netriak has brought up to date for TA called "Galactopedia". It draws it's info from the game files, shows all the tech trees, as well as all of the planetary improvements for the various races. You can find it here: [link="http://library.galciv2.com/index.aspx?m=775"]WWW Link[/link]
When your empire runs more than 500 BC in the red, eveything comes to a screeching halt. Look elsewhere for the financial drain.
There is a missing piece in the tech tree. Hopefully, it will be addressed in the next patch.
My first computer game was called "Ladder". It came bundled with my first computer, a Kaypro II I bought in 1982. It had a 2.5 MHz Zilog Z80 microprocessor, 64 KiB of RAM, dual, single-sided, 191 kB 5¼ inch floppy disk drives, and an 80 column green monochrome 9" CRT. Hot stuff, huh. It was portable, at 29 lbs, and used the CP/M operating system. Ladder was a Donkey Kong clone, using only the ASCII characters as 'graphics'. I wasted a lot of time in this little game. It was (
