Pretty sure it is, or at least it is something that isn't important enough to change. There are techs listed that some say shouldn't be known, either. This is one of those things that have 'always been that way', so I don't pay much attention anymore. Just out of curiosity, did you have "Blind Exploration" ticked?

Antivirus and Firewall are the disease cure line for the Yor, IIRC. I haven't played them since they were first released in the beta, but I'm pretty sure that they are just renamed versions of Xeno Medicine and Disease Cure.
there was a post earlier on it from CariElf
Actually, it was MeliBee. Here is a link to the post. [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/310280"]WWW Link[/link]
There is. Go to Options/Interface, and UNtick "Remove functional components when upgrading ship design".
They are listed as "AAR'S".
at the time this happened, had a star democracy.
It seems that while you were researching up the diplomatic/influence branch of the tech tree, the Thalans were researching weapons. Diplomacy will only take you so far- in the end you are going to have to actually fight. As far as your falling behind in research goes, the re-written AI is much better at managing these things. You don't have to have the absolute tech lead in order to win this game. In most of my ga
The page render times printed at the bottom of the screen are all very reasonable. The problem is they are not at all representative of how long I seem to have to wait.
Agreed. The Stardock server seems to be taking longer to respond than it used to. Once it responds, the pages load quickly enough. Also, the time it takes for a reply to make it to the "recent posts" has crept back up to the pre-update times. The most annoying thing about this is the "edit" button
A birthday is just the first day of another 365-day journey around the sun. Enjoy the trip.
You should really focus on one weapon type. Multiples really won't do much for you, and the research points could be better spent elsewhere; in defense, for example.
There is a little proggy called "Galctopedia". Netriak has put in a fair amount of work to make it compatible with TA. It lists all of the techs and improvements, and what they do. You can find it here:[link="http://library.galciv2.com/index.aspx?m=775"]WWW Link[/link]
Didn't know about the leveling. I played around with these awhile back, but always used them as throwaways. For the record, I believe that it was Wyndstar that first discovered, or at least posted about these.

Where did the edit button go? I just wanted to make sure that you knew that once you have Impulse installed, you no longer need SDC.
First, uninstall SDC. Then, download Impulse. Finally, use Impulse to update the game(s) as support suggested.
I would tend to agree with DethAdder. TA uses a new engine that is much more efficient than the older versions of the game. Do post your debug. Here's a quick question: Did you notice these problems before you installed SP3? M$ is always the first place I look when problems pop up after one of their updates.
The games only require you to register once. The game can be played without a disc in the drive. The only time you have to go online and be verified again is when downloading new content. Starting to sound familiar? As far as *only* being able to install on three computers, this is from the GalCiv EULA: YOU MAY: 1. Install and use one copy of the SOFTWARE on a single computer. 2. Install a second copy of the SOFTWARE on a second computer only if you are the main user of this computer (ho
Question is, why are the charging the Retail Box shipping rate if there isn't a box?
Because there is a minimum that the shipping company will charge. Disc in a sleeve, or 'pretty box', the cost is the same. The difference is, you aren't being charged for the cost of designing and manufacturing that box, or the cost of writing, illustrating, and printing of a physical manual. I have always assumed that it worked as Loupdinour says it does. The turns will keep clicking over until either a tech is researched, a social improvement is completed, a ship reaches it's destination, or something of interest is completed by another race. (GNN) I don't know, though. In all honesty, I have never played with this option on. I was always worried that I would forget something or other, and I would lose a half a dozen turns before I realized it. Anyone out there
You should soon receive an e-mail with your registration serial#. There will be a link in there that points you in the right direction. In the meantime, you can go to the "Downloads" section of this site, and download "Stardock Central". You will need this to download the game. Don't worry- it is a perfectly harmless, and actually quite useful little prog. Don't hesitate to ask back if you need any more help. Welcome.
Where do you specify this? I cannot find the setting.
There is no such setting. The game will automatically space them out for you. On the larger maps, they will naturally be farther apart.
I hope for your sake that your wife doesn't take a sudden interest in your hobby and start reading these forums.
I think that Frogboy finally did it. Send the widow flowers. It wasn't with strange new planet types, or some new game mechanic, it was done in one of the simplest ways possible; he just tightened up the economy. No one can *afford* to rush now. It's not so much the size of the galaxy, it's the point at which everyone runs out of bc. On a tiny/rare map it wouldn't even happen. There are so few planets that they would be snapped up before the inevitable economic crash. On the larger map
Immense, rare, blind exploration is about as real as it gets in this game. There's a lot of empty space out there.
Absolutely. The sky's the limit.
It carries over towards the next tech in line. If you get your research high enough, you can complete two, or even three techs in a single turn.
