I never use CTRL-N
Good for you. Play the hand that you are dealt, I say. I'm sorry, my brother, but I'm running out of ideas. What Franco said is true; you can edit the aggressiveness of any civ, but you shouldn't have to- especially for the Drengin. They are one of the more aggressive races. When you set up your game, don't randomize the races. Pick them yourself. There may be a chance that randomizing them will also randomize intelligence, or reset

This shouldn't be happening. I think that I can help. 'Tough' is a good choice. It gives full AI, but without bonuses. Manually choose 'Intelligent' for all of the races. Make sure that you UNtick the 'randomize intelligence' box. In the options screen, tick the 'Force AI to use max CPU' box. One more thing... DON'T CTRL-N. My guess is that this is the heart of your problem. There is a bug related to this that has been around since the beginning of time. If you CTRL-N, as often as not t

I would definitely recommend Firefox. I have been using it almost exclusively for some time now. There are only two sites that I use IE for, that being the M$ site, and one old wholesaler's site that still requires it. I have had no problems whatsoever with it. Firefox is faster than IE, right out of the 'box'. There are a number of settings in it that can be tweaked for even faster speeds. I did this and improved the load times ~25%. I did it in the registry, but there is a little add-
I think if I can gift the Thalans my crappy/distant worlds given to me through the surrender, I can pull out of my economy dive.
Pay special attention to the money that these worlds are making/losing. Choose the planets that are losing the most money; you will save the money that you are paying out to support them, and add a big drain to their economy at the same time. Also, destroy any structures that they may find useful, so that they will expend even more of their reso
I'm hoping that the Stars and Avs will somehow get matched up in the next round or the finals, so I can see them here.
Yes, they have quite a history in the playoffs. I can still remember the last time they faced each other. :SNIFF!:

Yes, it seems that by most accounts, the beta has been causing little trouble. I have no idea why I had this problem. Usually, I'm the one who is sailing along in the betas while others have had problems. I have only had one crash, and no driver issues; nothing really except a few minor glitches. This is why this came as such a shock. I don't even know how I could be of help in sorting this out, other than providing basic system info. (Which of course, I would gladly do).

Go Avalanche! Sakic, Forsberg, and Foote are back together, so look out. Stastny is one hot kid, and Smyth has to be determined to get past the second round. The Av's/Wild games have been close all season long, so this could be the best series of the playoffs.
It means some updates to programs will appear on Impulse but won't necessarily appear on Stardock Central. Actually, it's the other way 'round. Impulse couldn't find either DA or TA on my machine.
Get Impulse, you won't be disappointed. It is the future and a significant advance over SDC
I wasn't disappointed, I was terrified. It locked my system up solid. I thought my rig was a goner. I finally got it to respond, and uninstalled it. Eve

Thanks. I've been looking forward to taking this baby out for a spin. But first, could you please explain a bit more clearly what:
Note that the precise version numbers won't match up between Stardock Central and Impulse since they have different backends.
means?

I would have to agree that the Thalans should be given first priority. Every game with them is the same. Thalans build nothing but embassies/Influence p@sses off their neighbor/Thalans get crushed. The Thalans should NEVER build an embassy, unless they are defending against another civ's influence. They shouldn't be using up their resourses on these things, but should instead be desperately researching up the tech tree until they get something that they can actually use. I think that t
Stardock has bought Eidos
OMG, I think *it* just moved. Don't buy Eidos; they have 'the rot', and are done for. But...if they were to pick up the rights to the seemingly abandoned "Hit Man" title, with it's unique premise, and it's obsessively loyal fan base, and combined that with their commitment to quality and customer service, then they would have a giant killer; one that would have every CEO in the gaming industry dumping on their mid-management, saying "why didn't y

Yep. Tough is the setting to use. Also, make sure you set all of the civ's intelligences to 'intelligent'. A couple of ticks below this and the AI will just..well you know.

I, for one, would not pay a subscription fee. Paying to play a game that I have already paid for is just too much. Being a former Diablo player, I was excited at the prospect of Hellgate:London, until I found out that it would be a subscription system. (At least to get the best equipment). They didn't get my money. From Stardock's standpoint, I think that it would be a real millstone around the company's neck. People would demand value for their money. This would mean continuous attenti

There have been some very creative posts here. Thanks all, for an entertaining read. My guess is that it will be the official roll out of 'Impulse'. For those of you not familiar, it is Stardock's replacement for SDC. Yippee! (Twirls index finger in the air). Here's a link: [link="http://tgnforums.stardock.com/174783/page/1"]WWW Link[/link]
which version of DA should I settle on when I end up acquiring TA???
Brother NeuralTech, once you get TA, DA will become a fond memory. Since I downloaded TA, I have only ever loaded up DA once: when the map editor was first released, and wouldn't work in TA. I loaded up my first map in DA and it worked like a charm. So believe me, this question is moot. Now, if you play meta tournaments, then DA will still be important until enough of the core players upgrade.

@Darquies; I want to make sure that you really understand this ability. Super Warrior doesn't give you the first shot. Any time that you, playing as any race, initiate combat, you get the first shot. Whoever you are attacking then gets the second shot. That is to say, that even if you attack with overwhelming force, and completely disintegrate your opponent, it will still get one 'parting shot'. A particle beam 'finger', if you will. This has the very real potential to cause damage. Enough of th
By not work do you mean they only work for one allignment(evil, nuetral, good)? Or they just do not work.
It could be based on alignment, but what I meant was that certain techs are race-specific: i.e. the Torian techs only work for the Torians, the Thalan techs only work for the Thalans, etc. These races may still offer these for trade, and will accept payment for them, but when you close the trade window, they will not show up in your list. You will need to learn wh
Just wondering if it is posible to trade tech with the different races to get the best of each of the building types.
Absolutely. For some of the races this is almost a necessity. TA is different in that some of the race specific techs can not be traded for at all, *and* some of the techs that they will trade you won't work for you. So you will have to learn what all of these are or you may end up getting scr&wed in trading. If you are judicious in your trading habits, an
