Welcome to the forums. A little advice... First, don't flame Stardock. EVER. They don't deserve it, and the members of these forums won't tolerate it. Have you ever seen one of those old black and white monster movies, where the creature is chased out of town by the villagers with torches and pitchforks? If you continue to post in this tone, then you may as well put on a pair of cement boots and screw a couple of bolts to your neck. I realize that you are frustrated, and I
So the "all factories" method doesn't work if you play with tech trading disabled?
It doesn't really matter one way or the other. The 'all factories' refers to a game mechanic where unused production is shunted to research. So, even if you build no research facilities at all, you can still get research points. It works the other way around also, with all labs. The advantage to this strategy is that you use all of your production; with a mix of factories and labs some is a
Whoops. I didn't notice that we were in the DA forum. drrider has given one of the better explanations of that ability. I always guessed that it was ~10% bonus; the extra 2/5 percentage points makes this an even better value than I had thought. @drrider- Good catch. One of the things that annoys me to no end is the dissemination of incorrect information on these forums. The blatant mistakes are always caught and corrected right away, but there are a number of more subtle mistakes th
Creativity gives you a chance that the tech that you are currently researching will be completed ahead of schedule. When you are researching a low level tech that takes 6 turns to complete, and creativity kicks in on turn 4, you save two turns of research time. This is no big deal, but... when you are researching a high level tech that takes 26 turns to complete, and it kicks in on turn 2, you save 24 turns of research time, and this can be huge. It's a roll of the dice whe
Piu lesu domine, dona eis requiem.
Actually, Libera me Domine de morte aeternum works a little better there. I support this idea as well. As things stand, the rampant tech trading between the AI controlled races erodes the concept of the unique tech trees. As some have stated before me, I am not a programmer, but from a layman's pov, this shouldn't be too hard to implement. The framework for it is already in the game. The 'trade goods' are handle
Yes, this is most likely the CTRL-N bug that has been around for a LONG time. Something new in this build- not only will intelligence be reset to Fool, but the game is now beginning to disable opponents. I recently won a one (1) turn victory, when the game disabled ALL of my opponents.
I agree with Suralle, the AI is not researching a tech, or at least it isn't being shown on this screen. Would you please post screens at a higher resolution? I can't read any of the text. I enjoy these 'backstage' looks. Thanks.
I agree with GW on this one. I find this ad incredibly intrusive. I understand the need to recoup some of the cost associated with running this site. I also agree with Mumble that people should be encouraged to register. They should not, however, be *annoyed* into registering. I wouldn't object so much if registration actually mitigated the problem. I have been registered for some time, and shouldn't have even been able to see the ad. Thing is, I have to be signed in to make it go
That would be me, and I'm not ashamed to say that I shed a tear while writing it.
"Welcome, Dungeon Master", said Saint Peter with a grin, It's time to roll d20 just to see if you get in. Sorry, couldn't help myself, of course you're welcome here. It's just that I've been waiting to say that for many years. We've all been waiting for a game, the table has been set, The players that you'll chose from are the best that you can get. With Lincoln as your paladin, and Hendrix as your bard, You'll come to know just how esteemed you're held in our regard.
Welcome to the galaxy. Be forewarned: this game has the ability to warp time, and minutes often turn into hours. If you have any questions, (and you will), search these forums first, and if you don't find the information you need, just ask, and someone will be around presently to answer. And remember; this game can be an awful lot of fun to lose. ;)
Is it: C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor\CustomMaps, or C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Twilight\Data\CustomMaps?
Above, go to: My Account/Stardock Account. There you can change your nickname.
This is a screenshot of my latest meta game. It has to be a record for both the fastest victory (~1or2 turns), as well as the lowest score at victory. Too bad I can't submit this; it would be nice to have *some* kind of record on there! *Edit* This is obviously a bug. I've sent off the endgame save and debug. I'll fire this game up again, and see if this problem is reproduca
Turn 'hardware mouse cursor' ON, in the game, and see if that helps.
If the Altarians are attacked, all of the other good civs will come to their aid. This is due to their super-ability, called "Super Organizer". Since you have (evidently) chosen good as your alignment, you are also being asked to declare war. You can refuse, and, other than a *possible* hit to your diplomatic relations with the Altarians, will suffer no ill effects. There is no way that you can be forced to declare war against your will. There is, however, nothing to keep the AI fr
I have a 22" monitor that I recently bought (Christmas present to myself), and it's native resolution is 1680x1050. The game runs just fine, and the extra screen real estate is a real bonus on those large maps.
I was wondering what happens to the effects of trade goods to the civ that built them but lost them to an invasion.
You have to take them on a case by case basis. If you lose Harmony Crystals, which has a civ-wide effect, then the effect is lost right away. The Xinathium Hull Plating is handled differently. Think of that one like a component that you can install on a ship. After you have researched and built it, you have a component that is automatically installed on al
I understand that it has to do with the economy and distance the freighter must travel but how does this translate into a figure?
AFAIK, this info has never been definitively set down anywhere. Sorry.
Is there any particular steps one can take to encourage other races to trade with you?
As Scintor mentioned, sell/gift the Trade tech. I only do this for the minors, however, as I don't want to give any of the majors (potential enemies)
That is one good looking young man. Most babies come out all blotchy and wrinkly and unfinished...but this guy seems ready and able to take on the world. (After he has finished his nap and filled his diaper, of course.) I couldn't be happier for you. My most sincere best wishes to you and yours. Mistralok
There are quite a few of these in the various tech trees. Question: does Stardock know about them all, or should we start a thread that lists the empty descriptions that we have found, to make it easier for them to fix?
the game looks great in 1920 x 1200.
Doesn't it? I recently upgraded my monitor as well, also to an Acer. Wait until you see TA. It looks even better.
I just visited the new site; very nice. Attractive, and easy to navigate. Good start! :CONGRAT: In the "How to update GCII" tab, the second screenshot should show the GC2 entry after it has been expanded. May I suggest waiting, though, until the next update is posted, so that the "Available" column is populated, and the "Update" buttons are shown. What does "Show pre-release versions" mean? What about 'auto-archive'? Also, it might be prudent to teach how to
