Anubis200 asked about a place to find a new avatar, and I was searching around, and stumbled across this site. The guy calls himself Rogue Synapse, and he has the most INCREDIBLE collection of sci-fi props that I have ever seen in one room. There are things from recent movies, and things that go WAY back. Heck, he even has the MST 3000 robots. And to top it off, he uses DesktopX, and provides a link to Stardock. Check it out, and see how many things that you can identify.

Here's something that I ran across on the web. It gave me a chuckle. EXCERPTS FROM A DOG'S DIARY 8:00 am - OH BOY! DOG FOOD! MY FAVORITE! 9:30 am - OH BOY! A CAR RIDE! MY FAVORITE! 9:40 am - OH BOY! Driver Date: 7/6/2005 This is the first thing that I would look at. Also: I just lowered the sound card acceleration by one notch and it fixed the problem. It no longer skips or glitches I use Audigy myself, and haven't had any problems, even with full acceleration. I am by no means an expert on these matters, but this should get you started until someone else comes along. Good luck.

May I make a suggestion to you that will speed up your ability to get answers to your questions? At the top of the page there is a search field. Type in a keyword, in this case 'alliance', and it will bring up posts with that word in the title. Read through them, and you will likely find an answer to your question, without having to wait for a reply in the forum. Try it. There have been a number of posts on this subject recently, and in the replies to them you will find more detailed answers t

Yep. Fuels Chief brought up the term 'warheads to foreheads' in reply to a post. I found it hilarious also, and thought that it would look good in a bumper sticker- "The Terran Alliance: Putting Warheads to Foreheads Since 2225". The Navy always seems to come up with the best sayings.

Then why allow the possibility to put a spy on that trade good tile if it's not going to work. As far as I know, trade good tiles are open to attack. Now that I think about it, it seems a little unfair to the AI, in that I can attack his trade tiles, but there is nothing that it can do to affect the goods that I have traded for. Sabotaging the

So what are you trying to say here, Jarl? You're pissed because the disk will be coming to you in an envelope rather than a cardboard box? You are a freaking idiot.

Know where my opponents are at the beginning of the game just by looking at the mini-map (and who they are if I used random) You can disable this in the galaxy setup screen when you start a game. Just tick the box marked 'blind exploration'. <TD class="

All of the advice given has been very good, and if you follow it you will generally have a good result. Sometimes, however, it just won't happen. If you have mutual borders, or are exerting fairly strong influence over them, then it is very difficult to get them to buddy up. It's possible, but there have been instances where no matter what I did, I couldn't ally. I assume that you are playing 1.4x. It is the hardest version of all regarding alliances. The rules have been relaxed a bit in DA, s

Can I safely continue to use this option? Certainly you can. This is not some kind of 'overclocking' mechanism. It simply gives the AI more processor power, in order to make better decisions. The only possible downside is that it may take slightly more time in between turns (depending on what rig you use), although I haven't noticed any rea

Actually, the manual is already in the beta. Very well written, compared to the DL manual. Frogboy said that the hard copy will be available also, for the cost of shipping.

Your espionage rating against another civ is determined by the length of time that your agents have been on one or more of their planets. You have plenty of agents- use them. Place agents on multiple planets; the civ in question won't possibly be able to counter them all, and you will rack up enough time to raise your rating. Alternatively, you can keep replacing your agents whenever they are nullified. You have a large pool to draw from, the AI probably doesn't. And, as it takes time, and bc

When you buy a trade good, you are buying the license to produce it yourself, meaning that anything you do to the original production facility will have no effect on your stats.

Dx10 spells the end of pc gaming, which is precisely what it has been designed to do. Game developers like it because it sets a standard that they can write to. They will no longer have to poll every card manufacturer for specs, and spend time and money in order to make sure the game works with them all. This will allow them to potentially use the time and money spent on these thankless chores to add more, and better content to their games. Lowering costs while offering a superior product fo

Something else to consider: When you colonize a new planet, you start out with a small population which will generate limited revenue. If you build improvements with a high maintenance cost too soon, your pop will not be able to cover the expenses, and the planet will run at a loss. Try building something that will make money for you, like a trade center first, until your pop has risen to the point where you can afford other things. Also, through the beginning/early part of the game, your home
