I am genuinely sorry about this Kryo, but now I have to kill you. This was something that I had figured out fairly early in my gameplay, and had kept to myself just in case multiplayer was ever implemented. has it been like this all along? When I played my first games, I found a number of Lucky Ranger ships. I thought: more luck, more Lucky R

They should change this for DA. It wouldn't matter. The value of a trade route is calculated based on the distance that said freighter is from home at the time. The slower that a freighter travels, the longer the time at a distance, therefore, higher revenues. If that ship were a 'speed demon', then it would reach those distances more often, but
If you sell or trade an AI faction an improvement tech, they will upgrade those buildings everywhere before starting anything else. Love it. A new weapon in my arsenal of dirty tricks. Thanks, Marshall.

You can see any planet at any time, as long as you are at peace with that civ. If you are at war, then a 'high' level is required in order to view a planet. Your level of intelligence on a civ depends on the amount of time that you have an active agent on that civ's planet. Range is not a factor. You can place an agent on any planet, regardless of range.
move a giant starbse simply by farting out the window I heard that the Korx already have a call in to the agents of the campfire cowboys from Blazing Saddles. spawn a branch of the weapons tree off of it.
I really like what I am reading here. So many good ideas. These discussions are making me much more interested in the Meta, and if things get worked out, I will start posting there. (But only when DA is released, as I haven't played a single game of DL since it did.) The things that stand out in this thread are: the advice to keep things simple. Whatever works for the most players. And, rework the scoring system. This one thing alone would be enough to bring me in. <table cellpadding=8 width="
No matter how many research points you have, you can only gain the same number of techs per turn as you have planets. Very interesting, Moosetek. I hadn't noticed this. My average research levels will only allow me 2-3 techs per turn, but this is nice to know in case I decide to really ramp up my research in a future game.
does it have other effects? Yes. It affects the vote in the Senate. If your approval drops too low, and you lose an election, you will lose any bonuses that your party affiliation gives you. It affects your race's "friskine
That did it. Thank you, Kryo.
I have been trying to update my personal icon, but the site won't accept it. It is a 48x48 jpeg. It went through fine as my personal photo, but every time I try to upload as my icon, it reverts to the one I have now. Any ideas?
Sorry, Creash. I just read that as of Jan.9, access to the beta of DA has been closed.
Yes, it can. Full value is given against the primary attack type, and the square root for the others. Example: Shields would block 9 beam, 3 mass, or 3 missile.
if I can contribute anything to help it survive and grow, I am willing. I nag and bitch about the meta, but I know that it is an important part of this gaming community. I am on board, all the way.
You can buy Dark Avatar now, via Stardock Central.
Great idea, RF. I would love to have a 'back off' option before I am forced into war.
in no way is an accurate reflection of playing skill This quote, as it is written, is male bovine droppings. The posted score does indeed reflect skillful play. I apologize to anyone that I may have offended by this comment. I suppose if I had to state my sentiments in one sentence, it would be: 'I want to play too!'. There are four ways to win
In my latest game, I got the 'Dread Lords' event. They spawned on a planet within 1.5 parsecs of my major encon planet. I have read the posts of the mayhem that they can cause, and so I was suitably alarmed. When I took a closer look, I was surprised to see that they had spawned without any ships at all, as well as no planetary improvements, other than their initial colony. I rush-built a transport, and sent it to invade their world, and conquered it easily. In two turns, I basically received a
For the Metaverse to be a viable proposition, the scoring system needs to be revamped. In order to gain the highest score, a player is forced into certain strategies that have been well documented; conquest, time limits, etc. Things are different now. Diplomatic victories are much harder to come by (as evidenced by the multitude of posts asking for advice on the matter), as are influence victories. The scoring system should reflect this. The Metaverse, as it stands, rewards the ability of the
Darkrenown, I'm not sure if the PQ or economic status of a planet chosen as a trading partner is taken into consideration at all when calculating the value of the trade route. The distance traveled by the freighter certainly is, and in DA the value of a route increases over time. I have always chosen the highest PQ planet in a system to trade with first, (out of habit), but I haven't noticed any obvious difference in the amount of revenue I receive from that one, as opposed to the lower PQ in t
I wouldn't spend the points there, if I were you. There is a cap on sensor range, which can easily be reached or exceeded without any racial bonuses. Spend your points on something more useful to you.
Thanks for the info, guys.
I have fraps also, but I don't like to run other programs while I am playing the game. I like to save every bit of processor power that I can in order to keep the game running smoothly.
It would be really cool if I could easily make a Screenshot of this using an ingame feature Why not? Anyone who has played the game for any length of time can get more information from a screen than from half a page of text. <TABLE cel
