- base growth is 3% or 75 million pop, whichever is smaller, - bonus growth from approval is added to base growth, - this sum is increased by bonus percentage growth from abilities (Aphrodisiacs, starting growth). The bonus from approval is calculated the following way: - approval 20 and below population "get lost" 10% per turn, - between 21 and 40 they don't grow, - from 41 to 75 they grow by default rate 3% or 75 millions, - between 76 and 99 the default rate

Capidenn, just to make sure that you are clear on one point; you can buy Dark Avatar now from Stardock Central. You don't have to wait until the retail release date. It is still in beta, so not all the features have been added yet. The campaign isn't in yet, and there are a few balancing issues to be worked out, but it is indeed quite stable and perfectly playable in it's present form. You will, of course, be entitled to all updates. And since you like the interactivity, by part

The only time I have seen something like this is when the AI attempts to sell an alignment-specific tech to a player of a different alignment. Since 'Counter-Espionage' is, afaik, available to every civ, this might just be a bug, especially since you have already sucessfully traded one of the same class of techs.

The one thing that gets to me is the overwhelming amount of micromanagement involed in the later stages of the game. Choose a smaller number of habitable planets. I just conquered a colony and 2 turns later the AI invadin

Have you defeated another race or two recently? I usually get this message when I go on a mission of conquest, albeit short. Let things calm down for awhile, and it will be as if it had never happened.

Yes, you need to start the game in the Meta in order to post the score. Instead of clicking 'new game', click 'metaverse' instead. You have to be connected to the internet. You will be asked to create an account. This is to have a name to post your score to. The parameters you have chosen in the game will be checked; no cheats or mods are allowed, with the exception, I believe, of Kryo's. After that, start a game and play as you normally do. Play, save, play some more; and when you finish you

I agree with you, danielost. It would be very helpful if the reasons why a custom race is rejected were spelled out. There have been times that I have had a configuration rejected and wasn't quite sure why. Then there have been other times that I darn well knew why! We should consider ourselves lucky, though. Previous builds of the game did not have this function at all; you could spend hours in a game o

It is something to give you enough time to read and absorb the information presented on the screen. It doesn't matter what is on the button. Perhaps it should say 'continue' in order to lessen any uncertainty on the matter. My question is: Is the information that I am being given re: political party strength of any value to me? And how can I use it to my advantage? Is it a barometer of the people, or just so much gobbledygook? If it's the latter, it can go away entirely, or almost. Since the h

I could usually handle one of these announcements, by going to war and either make the civ cry 'uncle', or destroy/seize it's tech resources until this type of victory is out of it's reach. It is another matter entirely when 2 civs announce within a turn or two of each other; that is a game killer.

I haven't seen the AI go for either an influence or diplomatic victory, but it will most certainly take a tech victory if it can. This has happened twice to me. Late in games, just when they were getting interesting, I get the warning that civ so and so is about to get the tech victory. This is very annoying. I now disable tech victory in all my games, so that I can continue on deeper into the game.

I looked into this matter, and it does seem as if the problem is forum-side. I downloaded the image to get a look at the properties, and it is .jpg, and is exactly 50x50. No problem there. Just for yucks, I attempted to upload to my account, and it did nothing. No error message; it just wouldn't replace my icon with the new one. You just might have to wait until the forum folk get back. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Here are a couple I found. I like the first one, but you'll probably want to edit out the text. The second is from "The Hand on the Clock of Divine Wrath" by Schoenegk 1688. I show exactly the same as Mumble. I am using FF, XP. I opened cleanmgr, and deleted the java runtime environments listed, (all created 3/2/06), with no effect. Is there some other way I can check to see if the old script is cashed anywhere else?

Mumble, My esteemed colleague; I have very strong opinions on this subject matter, but as I have been suffering through the influenza for the last week or so, I haven't the strength to debate you right now. One small thing... why are you not using IE7?
