One of the very first lessons you should learn when playing this game is not to go into debt for a long time- or at all. Your success in the game will, to a great extent, be defined by your ability to manage your economy. I can only think of one reason that you had neither research nor manufacturing capability with money in the bank. Have you doublechecked the production sliders? Have you focused everything on the military? If so, raise your research and manu up, and things should start being

I would recommend an ATI X1600XT. It is one of the better mid-range cards (I use one myself). It should work ok on your system. You mentioned that you don't have a computer supply near. Buy online. You might try Newegg.com. They have a good selection, excellent prices, and their customer service is second to none. They have a Sapphire X1600 listed for 90 bucks. You can also find a 400+ watt Thermaltake power supply for $40. What the above posters say is absolutely true re: changing it yourself.

Well, by golly, guys, you were right and I was wrong. I built a couple of freighters, sent them to orbit around other worlds for a couple of turns, then sent them off to start a trade route. The routes were both attributed to the planet on which they were built. It seems that a freighter is 'tagged' with the planet that they are produced on. I assumed (incorrectly), that that tag would be added when they left their last port of call. So- if a planet cannot manufacture a freighter, it cannot tr

There is a mega-event version in DA though that increases ALL abilities each turn. This is the event to which I was referring. I seem to get this event in every game I play- three of the last four, anyway. It has never been any kind of problem for me. The advantages it gives accumulate so slowly that the civs receiving it are either in serious d

I can only relate my personal experiences playing DA. The AI makes much better use of planetary tile improvements. No more farms on +300% tiles. I have seen it use morale tiles for other purposes, but even I do this unless I really need them. It chooses more of a mix of improvements on each planet. I haven't seen a whole series of planets covered in factories or tech the way I used to. In regard to this point, however, it still doesn't use it's capitols very well. It will place them on one of

No, giving a new name will prevent the automatic fleet update from working and you will be forced to upgrade all your ships individually, bad idea Mistralok. I will remember this, Mystic, in case I ever want to go down the path of conquest. I play as a diplomat, and only keep enough ships in my fleet to keep the AI from breathing down my neck. L

OmegaTomato, I believe that you can. I have never actually done so, but I am reasonably certain that if you send a freighter to one of your other worlds, you can relaunch that freighter and send it to an AI planet and it will form a trade route between the two.

I do not believe this is a bug. Name your new design with the new engines mother ship 2, instead of mother ship 1, and see what happens.

I can not answer your question with absolute certainty. My best guess would be that an increase there would either give a 15 or a 30 percent advantage towards the time necessary to spawn a new agent.

Can't Galactic Civilations II be played on a Lan? If you had ended your post here, I'm sure you would have received a series of more civil answers to your question. This would be my answer to you: No, it can not. This game is not suited to multiplayer, for a number of reasons. I will direct you to a thread that discusses these in more detail.

Super Spy: Gets an agent to start with and can build a Counter -Espionage Center on planets that prevents spies from being put on the planet and provides a morale boost. This is directly from the DA manual. As stated, it seems a bit weak. Does anyone else know of any further advantages this ability gives? I have also just read that the CE Center is not allowed to be traded. I am a bit confused. Is this something that is available only to the Super Spy? If so, why is it in the tech tree?

Good catch, JonSarik. The population of a planet should never be decreased in so short a time as this. In humans, there is the rule of threes: three minutes without oxygen, three days without water, and three weeks without food will generally result in death. The population should not begin to decrease until after three weeks have passed. Of course, these rules apply to the human race only. Reptiles can go without food for much longer, and what about the machine or insectoid races? This could

applying warheads to foreheads LOL This would look good on a bumper sticker- "The Terran Alliance: Applying Warheads to Foreheads Since 2225"

I'm not sure what you are trying to ask, Danielost. You cannot upgrade from one hull size to another, if that is what you mean.
