I consider it my Quixotic duty Quixotic... Good word! I had to look it up! Now I have to rethink changing my name!

I have suffered from depression for over two years and have attempted suicide twice in the previous ten months. BigHairyGoat: This may be why you have taken such a dislike for the comments made by Wheel. Your view is somewhat tainted because of your life experiences. However, I also did not know that he was joking in his original post.
Why is it that the Galaction Council votes on a random subject you are in no way in control of yet the NPC's are somehow. Say there is 4 races, then every 4th summit you should choose the topic. This is the best idea in the entire O.P. in my opinion. I would like a chance to choose a topic for the council to vote on. ( Especially if I am the maj
The US will take Antarctica, militarize space and take the moon. All by force, of course, because force is profitable. Of course this may happen in 60 years or so, after we pull out of Iraq. Bush pulled out of the
I see the "bling" now as well. Thanks for the update Mumble.
So, I am sitting at work enjoying my favorite activity, reading and posting on these forums, and the forums page shuts down on me. A few minutes later they pop back up, and I return the fun. However, after about 10 minutes or so, I realize the medals (bling bling) at the bottom of the posts have disappeared. I did not think anything of this until today when I logged on from home and saw the same. Anyone have any idea what is going on? I kind of like my medals.
Sorry, Quixen, just a joke! CornhuskerMac, I can take a joke sir! This joke however, went clean over my head. I did not even know you were joking about the spelling until Evil pointed it out. I seriously thought you were bringing weather into the fray, hence the post about the weather. So that made your joke not only funny, but quite halarious
A failed attack does no appreciable damage. So what you are saying is, you either hit, or you miss? There is no wounding? No other type of damage? Either you destroy it or miss. Hmmm, not liking the sound of that. My reason for this is a simple one. If I attack a fleet with another fleet and lose, then follow up the same turn with my back up
To expand on this idea a bit more, why not make them a must have? Why not give a bonus / penalty to hit, strictly on sensors. The more advanced your sensors are, the better chance you have of causing damage to your opponents ship during combat. Make sensors/targeting a package deal and then sensors would be a must. I play generally on the small to medium maps, so I really care less about sensors. This would make me have to research the line in order to compete effectively ag
The only issue would come if you were penalized for using max speed, and had your fleets arrive with little or no power left. I think this is a good idea and would add to the Galactic Warfare experience. Not to mention change the fundamental tactics some of us use on a regular basis. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgCo
I understand where you are coming from, however, I believe the O.P was intended to give ideas to the developers. Yes it did get off topic to an extent, most threads do after a certain amount of time. Yes I believe that most of the suggestions the O.P made were a bit on the wild side, so it seems most of us followed that path. I am not participating in the beta testing myself, but a few of my friends are and I understand what they are trying to accomplish. It can be a very daunting ta
They're picking on your spelling. I honestly don't remember weather being an issue! Good thing you pointed that out Evil, I would have never picked up on it. Especially since it was a typo. C-l
Yeah, I should have Googled it... I am old but not that old... Can be a bit lazy at times. heh? What did you say sonny? ** Whips out the old hand held hearing horn ** Nintendo? I thought they were a dying breed in the world of computer gaming consoles. Thought they were sticking to the hand held gaming hardware. Believe it or not, I have never heard about the Wii until now. Interactive you say? Now I guess I am going to have to use Google... Damn.
Brad has commented that he wouldn't mind seeing a larger hull size after Huge Then Brad should make the Devs work overtime to get it into DA!
I must be way out of date, older than dirt and all that good stuff but ummm... What is Wii?
Well, if you have to refuel the ship as others were talking about above, keeping track of the ships and their fuel consumption would be a bit of a pain. I think you would need to be able to create "fuel ships" of some sort, adding to the amount of ships you are already using. Having to intercept, refuel, and then refuel the re-fuelers could turn into a logistical nightmare. However, if done this way... <table cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgcolor=#FFF394 class="mb-Bo
Shame to see a joke thread like this bring down good threads from the 1st page. Why? Some people like the comic relief. It is just a game after all, it should not have to be serious all the time. Should it? I also think the O.P. was serious in nature to begin with.
I honestly don't remember weather being an issue! I am not sure where you are going with that statement but I will be happy to indulge the theory. Weather in space? motion + <TA
I thought it was a rather clever idea, the micro-management aspect of it would be an extreme headache though.
2. Starbases should become very powerful when I take the time to upgrade them 50 times. They're big, so with common sense you should be able to put big guns etc. on them. They're weakness should be that they can't move. Seems everyone has hit on the other subjects mentioned in the O.P., I thought I would hit on this one. The argument can
Evil was reading my mind. Since it was brought up however, I might as well through wood on the fire! Sonic weapons are obviousls... no physical medium to move sounds through. Sure, you can always use electromagnetic waves, but then... wait! Those are lasers! We already have those! <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor
I am very unhappy to see the "old" intel-gathering system eliminated in favor of making intel a side dish for a system that assumes sabotage as the default goal. Even though I am not playing the Beta, I would have to agree with this. I do not think that it should be completely eliminated. Maybe make it more difficult to achieve higher levels o
It certainly didn't seem to me that he was a serious Beta tester. So if he wants to have some fun with cheat codes, I see no harm in it. I guess I can't debate with you on that point. In my house, Free Parking only got $200 placed on it. Whenever anyone had to pay for Community Chest cards, Chance cards, income taxes, or bought their wa
Probably a bug related to the new code that is supposed to make planets' size be based on their class. I don't really think I care to much for the size being based on planet class. I mean if it has to be done, who am I to contest it. It just does not seem to be right. You should have large useless planets as well as small "Eden" type planets.
I also have to ask. Why would someone want to cheat while testing a beta? Maybe lifting the fog of war as Mumble suggested (still would not recommend) but that would be the extent of it. and some folks think stuffing lots of money under Free Parking on a Monopoly board just makes sense. I know it is not the way the rules read, but I h
