Megalobob is spot on, if you want to play, you have to pay. It is fair in the sense that if you are willing to part with your money to help Stardock create a fairly bug free release, the company recognizes this and knows if you are playing and paying for the Beta, more than likely you are going to report any bugs you find and not hope that someone else finds them. I personally do not sign up for Beta testing. I do not have the time or patience and I know this, therefore I did not pay

For some reason I like only saving once. I feel more of a connection to the game. Call me strange I guess, but I feel if I forget to do something or do something dumb I should have to live with it. After all you do not get a "do over" in real life, and besides, I feel it makes the game more interesting trying to recover from a stupid mistake or decision. I know, I know, this isn't real life. I do like to simulate it though. Just my thoughts.

I bought the game, installed it, set the galaxy to gigantic, cakewalk, set everything to abundant, set research to very fast, selected 9 opponents and just went to town. Within a hundred turns or so, I understood the basic concepts. I researched the entire tech tree except tech victory. Messed around with every slider, button, gadget,bell and whistle. I think my main problem is that I do not have time to really get involved in the game. If you notice, the games I have posted have all been on the small galaxy. I wanted to secure my multiracial medal before going to a harder level. I completely destroyed the enemy on normal with very little effort. I just posted my first victory on challenging. My main computer was on the fritz, so in order to play the game, I down graded to one of my old Pentium 3 paper weights. Load times were terrible and the only way I was able to play the game at all was to remove the textures completely. I never knew what I would miss in the game until I did that. Now I know.

To board and conquer enemy ships is always a good idea. To make it turn based and have troops move through the base or ship would be to much. While X-com UFO defense was a good game, it really got old after awhile with the constant individual troop movement. Fighting the same type of battle over and over again. This would slow GalCiv2 down to much in my opinion. I think it should be based on the amount of troops the added module has versus the amount of the defending troops

theStormWeaver, I bought the game from a store back in June. When I got it home and loaded onto my machine, the cut scenes (movies) were really choppy. The reason was my graphics card really sucked. Since then I upgraded and now I am not having the same problem. Could it be that you have an older graphics card that may be in need of replacement?
