The only other thing I think that may contribute to the lopsided invasion statistics would be morale. Think about it for a second. Here you are on this planet, your entire fleet in near orbit has been completely obliterated, or your homeworld just simply refused to protect you by placing a fleet in orbit, or the attack was a complete surprise. Meaning the first world invaded starting the war with the other civ. That would completely demoralize a planet I think, knowing that millions hav

I am not sure what exactly has happened. Not sure if it is the level or what but when I first started playing a few months ago I started on cakewalk, just to get a feel for the game. I remember selling my low techs to all 9 races for what I thought at the time was a killing. I think it was like 13,945 bc per tech. In like only 3 or 4 turns after I started doing this, my treasury had busted 500,000 bc. At that point I figured I was playing at a level not even worthy of my time and prompt

I, like you, started the same way. After about 15 hours and 240 planets, 16 game years, I decided to re-start. There is so much you will learn along the way you will want to, even after spending that much time. Also, I started on cakewalk, and believe me, the game got extremely boring because it was not a challenge. I bumped it up to beginner and it was still to slow for me. Normal is somewhat bareable but I find the more I play at normal the less enjoyment I get from the experience. Coupl

Gee. I really hope they make the 41 dwarf planets something all high schoolers have to learn. I am sure they will be thanking all of those in the IAU.

(and whoever said that you don't keep something around because it has always been that way is right, otherwise the world would still be flat! (among other things)) This statement is hysterical. First and foremost, the world was thought to be flat until it was proven that it was not. Fact. Not hypothetical, not some one simply redefining what

I don't hate anyone, or any country for that matter. If anything I love a good debate! You are very right indeed Mr. Danielost, we all play this game which gives us all something in common. A great game for sure! (Be even better if they add Pluto!) <-------- Thats a joke just in case someone thinks I am serious.

I didn't generalized about Americans, but about United Staters. I am an american myself. I would like to know what the difference between an American, and a "United Stater" is. <TABLE cellpadding

Just out of Curiosity, before I make my official reply to what Cikomyr had to say, I would like to know what the difference between an American, and a "United Stater" is. I have been all over the world. Born in the United States, Lived in Oklahoma, Alaska, Alabama, Maryland, Texas, and Virginia. I spent from the time I was 10 to 18 in Europe. Germany to be exact. While there I visited England, Italy, Russia, France, Switzerland, Denmark, Spain, Turkey, and Greece. Then I joined the

Currently my games are in the small galaxy, research normal, 3 opponents, the rest random. Typically, my game lasts between 2 and 3 years and I normally wipe them out before they even become a threat. I do not research anything I do not need. However, I have found that extending the game out to 4 or 5 years will give me more points in the MV, but the two games I let play out longer I used the same tactics and they worked well. I am sure as I up the difficulty and map sizes my strat will chang

The posts here are really good and are keeping me very entertained. I never expected to get as many spirted replies. I must also say that I never intended for this thread to go the direction it did. My main reason for posting was that I thought it would have been a cool Idea to put Pluto in the game as a planet orbiting the Terran Alliances home solar system. Some people want Carriers, some want cloaking devices, some want an entire new system for tactical combat. All I wanted was a tiny pl

Who is to say that it was a mistake? The scientist who made the discovery of an asteroid/comet/whatever else you want to call it, with satellites which orbit it? The new dope smoking alcoholic astronomers who want to make a name for themselves? Let me get this straight... because a planet is different, in one way, shape, fashion, form, or orbit, it will no longer be considered a planet? So now since it is small and it's orbit is a little off.. we call it a dwarf planet... to ummm... corre

These enlightened astronomers could have used their precious genius and time doing something more productive The definition of a dwarf planet is this: It must be round. That's it, they spent weeks deciding this. OMGWTF </TD

Gah... new classifaction is dwarf PLANET I just heard that on the news... was about to post it... You are so right. First and foremost I may need a definition or a rule set on "Game Talk" and "Off Topic" Maybe the crew at Stardock. To commemorate Pluto by making it a planet in the game. I thought this put it into context as being game related. I am constantly viewing posts about how people want this or that in the game, or would like this changed or

I really do not care what the astronomers say....... PLUTO IS A PLANET!!!!! I am going to start a petition and send it to.... to... to.. Well, someone. Maybe the crew at Stardock. To commemorate Pluto by making it a planet in the game. Please sign below if you agree. Just a thought.

I personally do not restart. I do my best with what I have. Yeah, I play normal, and post them to MV for my reasons, does not mean I do not play on higher settings with or without mods. That goes for others as well. Remember, what we post on the Verse is what you see, nothing more. With that said, I do not believe they should take out the restart, it is nice for those that want the option. I don't want the game to turn into a script. Do the same thing, game after game after game a

Right now their only porpouse is for planetary defense, at ANY point in the game. I beg to differ with this comment. I happen to love my small and tiny fighters, I use them more than any other type of spacecraft in the game. With the techs I go after in the early game I can make my fighters quickly, create large fleets with my logistics and cru

I agree about the storage capacity of a Starbase but, there are several different types of bases out there. You would have a storage or resupply depot, but eventually they would have to be re-supplied themselves. You would also have your military, research and development, mining and exploration platforms, as well as your deep space observations posts. Not to mention Starbases that would cater just to vacationing civilians. All these bases would need resupply and may even be the ones supplin

Why do star bases need to have a logistics value? Logistics imply coordination/movement, but a starbase is just going to sit there and its everyone else that needs to be coordinated around it. Movement, in a logistical sense, is important for Starships, for Starbases however, not moving does not mean they should not be subject to a logistical po

There is already a whole bunch of management going on now in the game. For me I am glad I do not have to do the whole starship strategy thing myself. Not that I couldn't, just really don't want it to take from the rest of the game, which it would. However, I would like to have more options when attacking, instead of just plain attacking. Like IanWorld had suggested. Give us a window prior to an attack, things like: Hit and Run - Does max dmg for one round and then retreats,

Star bases are massive, assigning a logistical point value so that you could place them into a fleet could be difficult considering the scale and variety of the starbases. Once you start adding modules the space structures get larger, unlike Warships off the assembly line. So their logistical point value may increase. Just my thoughts on the matter.
