Marshall, I understand what your saying, do not get me wrong. A planetary assault requires massive amounts of resources and prestine timing. My earlier post denotes that I am aware of the loss of the transport... If I win great, if not, I just lose a transport and one trooper. In the mid game, at least for me, transports are cheap. I

Wow, what a touchy subject. All I wanted to know is if I could cripple a planets production, economy, or research by attacking with a small force and wreaking havoc with Mass Drivers or another type of assault. My question was answered with a resounding no. However, I do feel that you shouldn't be led to believe that the effects take place prior to an attack. Maybe just by simply re-wording the descriptions of the planetary assault messages themselves would suffice. I know I can no

So, the answer to my question is no. That is cool, and I guess I can understand why. Thank you. However, you must forgive me for delving deeper into this scenerio. I will start with in game discriptions of the planetary assults themselves. Mass Drivers " While the attack will be almost unstoppable, destruction on a planet - wide level is inevitable. " ( inevitable ) wouldn't you do this prior to landing any of your own troops? Core Deto

I have been playing the game now for a couple months, granted I have yet to bump the game up to a level that would be challenging for me because I am still trying to explore new and better ways to generate victories with each race that is currently playable. I have assaulted literally hundreds of planets, and up to this point I have yet to lose. I have experimented with the various forms of planetary assaults. Question.... Do they make CD roms that will work with my Commodore 64? Stardock bothered with the 3D graphics because some people play in multiple dimensions, not just the "chess" view. Everyone has their preferences... even me. My Imagination, My Rules.

I am not sure if I like the idea of being able to build multiple ships from a single starport or not. I agree that it would dramatically change the dynamics concerning the strategy of the game. For better or worse I am unsure. Not sure if any of you have ever played Axis and Allies, but looking down at the board and seeing one plastic tank, I tend to think of it... the tank... as a division of tanks. So I tend to see my tiny fighters as being "flights". If I place them into fleets

I like to look at the maps as being entire galaxies. All the stars plotted on the current chart I am playing are key for one reason or another, even if the solar system harbors no habitable planets. I imagine there are other systems within the galactic realm in which I am currently playing, but none of them hold any value, therefore are not charted. My imagination, My rules! hehe

John, Many come here for questions about the game or to make general statements about their game play experiences, even make posts regarding their personal opinions. Most people enjoy sharing knowledge here, what you take away from what is posted is only for you to decide. Just because someone says such and such, obviously doesn't make it so. When someone posts a reply to try and help, or answer questions, especially if that someone is an employee of Stardock, try and be a little mo

Yes, very few people who play this game play with the core ships. Go to the ship yard and design your own dewd...... not only are they more powerful, but they are of your own design so you can be proud of them as well!

I Kinda think that is a nifty Idea. Go back and take a look at what the game used to be. For me, that is a really good idea because I never played the original. I started with 1.1 and 4 days after purchase I was playing 1.2. So not a bad idea, thanks Mystic.

First this is a game, Second it is set in the future. Therefore if you want to debate, realize.... Tax rates, Political Agendas, Birth Rates of today do not apply. Try and play this game with a 5% or 7% tax rate like we have today and see what happens.

Good is not dumb. Just look at 98% of the movies ever released. Read some history. Good is just misuderstood.

7 Days = what? 4.3452380952380952380952380952381 of a year. 168 hours or 10,080 minutes or 604,800 seconds or one click of your mouse in a fraction of a second. Guess it really depends on how you want to look at it. I would really like to know what kind of crack head civilization can build an entire starport in a week but can't even pump out two lousy tiny scout ships from the same starport in a single weeks time. Tis a game afterall.

Ummmm.... no, I wasn't thinking the Civil War. This exert taken directly from https://www.galciv.wikia.com/wiki/Yor_Collective "But time has a way of changing priorities. Eventually, the ancient Precursor civilization split into two warring factions for control of the galaxy. One side became known as the Arnor and the other side Dread Lords." Sounds a bit like what's happening to the Dregin... you think? Will this story with the Dregin continue down the same

Those who live by the sword, Die by the sword. Will you turn the other cheek? I guess it comes down to your style of play. If you are part of the "want it now generation" and or want to reap the immediate benefit of some evil scheme to further your cause.... Evil is the route to take. No cuddling the Energizer bunny here... you snatch him up, rip him apart and use his motors, batteries and gears to build a diabolical weapon to devastate your opponent whilst you sleep easily

i don't really know about the Metaverse thing but wouldn't it be easier to stick with the guild you created in the 1st place Different Game, Different Time, and again..... good General, tactician, strategist. I Do not want to run my own Empire. You spend way to much time with clerical matters and not enough time "blowing stuff up". <br/

Hi everyone, I have been playing for about a month or so and feel that I am ready to start playing on the Metaverse I have been watching the boards here, and elsewhere trying to soak up as much information as possible to help with my game play. Everyone has different play styles and this is openly displayed within the forums I have read over. Oddly enough the questions I have about the game deal directly with the Metaverse itself. The Empires specifically. These Empires fight for con

I am still playing my first game, and I have stolen techs as well. From the Dregin no less. At the time I had stolen these techs I had yet to invade my first planet. I noticed that I had actually started to research the tech prior to actually stealing it. Not sure if that plays a part or not. I know my custom race does not have the luck attribute. Just my experience thus far. "Look! he seems to be heading to that small moon" "That's no moon.......... It's a space station."

Please do not get me wrong, I never said Espionage was not useful. On the contrary. I was just trying to point out that the diplomacy screen reveals more about a civilization than it really needs to. I shouldn't have to cripple the game "No tech trading" in order to make the diplomacy screen more realistic, because trading techs inevitably is also a realistic possibility between civilizations. Being prior military and having some skills revolving around actual warfare a

I agree fully with you Mr. Jack Jack.... The fun factor is what it is all about. I have read many posts within this forum talking about how some players do not even bother with sensor development. What if your espionage level let you know what they had and your sensors allowed you to see what certain ships are equipped with? The better your sensors and espionage, the more accurate in calculating exactly what your opponent is wielding. Making sensors all that more valuable. <b
