Tony, I do not own Galciv I but I do have Galciv II. It sounds to me the ground combat is different. Each side has a soldiering level. On the planetary assault screen you will see both sides, how many troops each has, and fluctuating numbers. The numbers will continue until you begin your assault hitting the attack button once. The fluctuating numbers then stop and show the advantage. These numbers are random in nature but do reflect soldiering skill as well bo

Detained yes, jailed, no Just curious. What is your definition of detained? The U.S. has a bunch of detainees at Guantanamo. Not sure if I would rather be detained thank you very much. As far as a rant. How about prescription and over the counter drugs? If you have a headache take this, its side affects are stomach problems... so you

Being former Military myself I can see where you were coming from on both counts. As a soldier I would have refused it also. As a civilian I tend to think that accidents happen every day. With military experience under my belt I would have to say I would not have faulted you if you took the medal to begin with. The fact is you were in a combat zone. Your life was at risk in a foreign country that your country asked you to defend. Through an accident or not, you were severely inj

Some people buy their colony ships right out of the gate. A pretty decent strategy. Others tend to buy their factories on their home world and then build the industrial capital to increase the production rate. I personally mix the two strategies. I will buy the first 2 or 3 colony ships and also purchase my first factory. I focus on social production taking the social slider to 50% and my research slider to 50% which drops military production to 0. Once my factories are established

I think this event was possibly introduced due to the games original intent. I believe I read somewhere on these forums that Brad Wardell never really intended for ships to reach the incredible speeds that players have hit during game play. I think he said that the original AI was built around the average speed of about 8 parsecs a week. Therefore, the AI should be much more formidable at these lower speeds making the games much more difficult to win at higher levels of play. I perso

Just out of curiosity, how did the main players act during your game? Yes the minors are quite intriguing to say the least. Rarely do they ever become any kind of a factor. Then again, they really aren't supposed to be a factor. Blame it on a lousy AI? I'm not so sure. I think they are responding the way they were intended. Can they be better? Without a doubt. I do agree with you in that regard. I think the minor races don't want to get squished, so they keep to themselv

Actually on the color thing, I pretty much go with gold (light brown, whatever). We have a bit more in common than I had anticipated Mumble! I also use the gold variant. Also, I was unaware planets that did not actually touch the sphere of influence where affected by the starbase. This is really cool and I will make sure to take advantage of this in the future. <img

I don't see any reason to post defeats, do you? Not if your trying to lose intentionally. However, with that said, points are points, and if I spent a significant amount of time playing a game and lost I most certainly would post the game. Just my opinion of course. <

The date bothers me not. Zman2100 started the thread on June 1st 2006. He then made a reply that had some merit on March 28th 2007. His comment warranted a reply, hence my post and the one by Dystopic.

Spoken like someone who has someone (or at least a party) they feel is worth voting for. A lot of those people just tow the party line anyway. I vote for the candidate which best fits me morally, be it Democrat, Republican or other. By the way, just in case you did not know, there are others. Then you have myself - I am pro gay rights, anti gun control, pro war, pro choice. Maybe the way I view it is wr

Terrans invented hyperdrive and so get to tell all those dirty smelly inferior aliens how to make their maps. Ah this may be true, but read into the story a little bit more. Most of the major players in the game were space faring long before the humans invented the wheel. Which means they charted space for themselves first. The only reason the lame Terrans even invented hyperdrive was because the Torians had sent them the schematics to build a stargate.

I have an uncle who told me at quite a young age the following... "If you do not vote, you do not have a voice. If you do not have a voice, you can not come into my house and discuss politics." My entire family follows the very same guideline. As a young angry man I did not really understand what he was trying to convey. As an older more mature man, I understand exactly. In their eyes, and in mine personally, if you do nothing, you do not have the right.<b

Did you read my previous post? 1 parsec per week using the definition of the parsec as a unit of length of 1 Parsec = 3.08568025 × 10^16 meters, which is about 3 light years (the unit of measurement I am sure that was intended for this game) is an incredible rate of speed. It is 171 times the speed of light. So here is a question. Why do the stupid Terrans get to define what a parsec is and what it isn't? I would think that it would

In order... Stanley Tarrant said... Al Gore talks about Global warming..... I am sure he flies around in his Lear Jet which puts out way more CO2 in one trip than my POS car will in a year. Liberal hippocrits Denyasis said... Well I don't knnow about Lear, but I do know that the Airbus A380, The LARGEST commerical jet ever, does about 8mpg (8000mi range, 1000gal tank). L3 - Lets me know the laser attack is 3 S3 - Has Shields with a power of 3 V18 - V is for velocity, moves, speed. 18 is the distance. Sometimes I get creative but not very often. I just wan

I have another rant... (Sorry, getting these things off my chest makes me feel oh so much better.) I really hate stupid questions. No I am not talking about the ones where people do not know the answers. How do you do this or what is that. I am talking about those clowns that ask questions just to ask them. For instance. I had hair down to the middle of my back a few summers ago. One day I decided I had enough and went to the barber to cut it off. I drove to the s
