I've always thought that, often ships would fire through their own hulls to get a shot in, so something like this would be nice in GC3
Mighty Mongoose
Is it orbiting a star named "Primus?" It is actually, or it was, I finished the game a few days ago.
Sorry I don't have a screenshot or anything, if it happens again I'll take one, but during one game I was playing I noticed that the Thalans had colonised a gas giant, which was class 5, now speaking from experience shouldn't all gas giants be 0 and uncolonisable?
No objection from me, its good! Carry on!
Mighty Mongoose, I already had "Yor Ascendant" in my list sorted based on post date Sorry I must have missed it To include a link in a post click on the icon that has a chain at the bottom or enter the HTML code ma
Yup, that about covers it, the way I see it the factories assemble the parts and the Starport puts the ships together.
This...is...awesome! And my one's in there!! (Giving the Dread Lords What for) Another new one I haven't seen here..."Yor ascendant" https://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=350&aid=109424 PS: I'm relatively new to these particular forums, how does one create a link in a reply plz.
In my experience, diplomatic vics are the hardest to accomplish, I always go for straight forward, apocalyptic nuclear mega death! So well done for taking the smarter route.
Civ IV has hotseat multiplayer, and its great, the only downside is its hard to secretly build up an army with your opponent sitting next to you.
Thanks, I'll try that.
You have more tile bonuses on planets, plus you are more likely to find free ships and Precursor artifacts.
It is a good idea to use the weapon your enemy can't counter and a defence they can't penetrate easily etc etc. Also try and trade with other races for weapons outside of your own. You never know when a minor race that counters your weapons and obliterates you defences will show up. There's nothing more humiliating than when you are owned by a minor.
Ok, the AI learns on a game by game basis, it doesn't collect data from your previous games, I'm reasonably certain of that. Terror stars are not included in this game, which I think is a real shame, they were soooo brilliant. And yes I think the logistics points have been changed (or rather will be) in Dark Avatar. Sorry I couldn't answer them all!
SIR! YES! SIR! MY LOYALTY TO THE NUTTINESS OF THE SQUIRRELS IS ABSOLUTE!!
When I'm at peace, I let other races take them and get them started, once the economy has been stabilised, I either buy them or conquer them, either way, I get them. In times of war I will admit it is a bit of a scramble to switch contruction from Warships to Colony Ships. Once I was engaged in a very costly war, a ship had a life expectancy of 5 or 6 weeks once out of port. The planets could have given me a huge advantage so I raced to colonise them. Unfortunately with the lack of new
I've tried, but the enemy just smashes straight through before you can fight back, not a good idea.
Very nice, great read. The galaxy must be ashamed to be beaten by Giant Squirrels!
In all my games it all goes pretty much the same. Challenging is my average skill level (although I have successfully beaten it on all other levels). However, no matter what skill level I play, the AI always takes very long to get large starships. Everyone gets Medium about the same time, which balances out the power. I stick with medium for a few years but then research larger designs, and that's it, I've practically won the game, my military rating shoots up and no other race dares ch
Whenever I'm hunting a particular ship sometimes it moves out of sensor range but my ships autopilot compensates and can judge reasonably well where the ship is going. This works even better on higer espionage ratings.
I have a theme to a class of ships. Ie. Odyssey class: Exploration theme so names go like this Explorer Adventure Interpid Some are a lot more nerdy like the Reynolds class, named after Malcolm Reynolds from Firefly, the ships go: Serenity Firefly Dortmunder Beaumonde Tam Persephone etc etc
I have seen the Alexians but not the Kwilasians. The Kwilasians were on a map I played but they were conquered before I discovered them, I only knew about them when I found out the Drengin were at war with them.
I use 'em all for defence, planet being subverted by another races influence, show them the light with influence starbase. Need to fund a costly war, why not tax freighter going through your space with the eco' starbase. falling behind in research, resource starbase. You get the idea
NICE! You have my vote. Just an addition, you said that you didn't want escorts slowing down battleships, and you said that you wanted fighterbays, maybe all ships or large size and above could be capable or carrying fighters and can either be launcher manually or automatically when attacked, the fighters you put in would be limited by logistics like anything else, you could practically hide an entire fleet in one starship! Edit: TERROR STARS!!
Star Trek Armada II had a feature very similar in its "Admiral's log" which is like an epic generator, but it doesn't tell a story like this one does. It would have like "Battle of Reticuli IV" then a list of the players, fleets and ships involved. Then it would end with either "Victory" or "Defeat" depending on how well the battle went. It was a very good retrospective on the battles during the game and the losses you took each time
I know its extremely depressing isn't it. You've just conquered the galaxy, your great battleships are returning home, there is celebration in the streets of your worlds as brave sailors disembark from their brobdingnagian warships, the post Galactic Domination euphoria sets in. Then you go back to a survey and a colony ship, having to colonise and stabilise a bunch of planets, once again trudge relentlessly along that tech tree and subdue the galaxy. There's no escaping it, it happens
