Stardock are busy people, I have had to wait much longer for a reply but I'm happy to do it, as for the whole SCREW STARDOCK thing, surely at some point you must have been confident enough to actually buy GalCiv 2, otherwise why else would you preorder the expansion, don't let one slip up drive you nuts, chill... And don't bad mouth DA, it's just not done.
They look great as they are, they definitely improve over the current graphics, which are by no means lacking, however, 2 questions. 1) Will there be bumb mapping? ie will ship and starbase hulls be undulating or will they be flat textures (either is cool I just want to know) 2) Are the special effects also getting an overhaul (weapon and defence effects) it would be nice to see the shields change colour/animation as they advance and the other defences as well. I to hope there is room for a lot of boom boom. These ships are big, so the explosion should be big, can you imagine a 2 kilometre long behemoth, being struck from all sides, smoke and plasma fizzing from ruptures in the hull, and then just going >pop<

How about, when you reach a certain relation level with another race they start asking you (and vice versa) for favours. It could be just like trade, ie "Please defend (planet/starbase) for (number of weeks) in exchange for (you pick)" or "Please escort (this ship) to (this destination) for..." etc etc. It could also work the other way, you could ask your allies to defend one of your planets or escort a "Got to be there no matter what" colony ship. Ok, I need to set the scene a bit. I and playing as humans (modified the name to Earth Commonwealth) and I'm doing ok, I'm in a little corner of the galaxy at war with the Drengin. My allies, the Torians, are also at war with the Drengin. On the other side of the Galaxy is a class 19 planet, I want it. Y'know all those civilizations profiles IGN did as previews to Galciv2 way back in January? Is it me or have they just plain forgotten to do the one about the Terrans? I was looking forward to reading more about the Terran/Xendar war.
This would also add very nice strategic depth since one race couldn't just go stomping across the Galaxy, wiping out races as it goes, it would actually have to wait for its military levels to catch up with it again. But what if a planet doesn't have a barracks, is it going to be undefended, or is the army going to be equally divided among the empire?
It runs away from danger as fast as it can. Basically you've told it to do everything it can to avoida fight.
It can be quite annoying, especially when fighting more than one war at once, ie fighting a really weak race on the brink of losing and a really strong race on the brink of wiping the galactic floor with you. It would be nice just to ask the weaker race to surrender and...if successful...pour all resources into not getting your butt kicked into last week by the stronger race.

Paint me pink and call me grandpa! Its happening everywhere, they came in droves through our town (I live in the UK btw). Do you think that every year someone says "Hey, maybe the end really is nigh this time". I am not religious whatsoever, but I still found the leaflet they left very condescending, oh well, once recycled it'll make great toilet paper someday. Oh and btw, the end has been nigh for about 2006 years now.
Anybody know if and when new race info is gonna be published? Or if Gamespot or IGN is gonna do a races feature like they did with Galciv2?
To be honest, they couldn't have gone with a better publisher, though Stardock are small they have a good reputation, which is exactly what this game needs if it expects to sell.
I don't like playing in Windowed mode, I don't know why, plus FRAPS is a lot easier, no pasting required. Just snap and it dumps it into the FRAPS directory.

I've seen and played Space Empires V and it is not a patch on Galciv2, and the multiplayer is immensely tedious.
Taking screeshots in Galciv 2 is currently a massive pain the neck, so why not introduce a utility that makes the game take screens and dump them into a screeshots folder in the home directory? It would definitely make player AARs better.
Nooo!! Not the Torians, for some reason they remind me of the Asgard from Stargate, they are sooo peaceful (not to mention often my most productive ally). SAVE THE TORIANS! If anyone should go it should be the Arceans, they bug the >you know what< out of me.
