Ooh...I've just noticed...I've never seen those ships that the TEC are using before! They're definitely not the ones listing in the "Races" section...ooooohhh tell us tell us!!!
Mighty Mongoose
This...rocks...my...socks. You have some true story telling ability!
I saw in the trailer a ship being struck with beams on its Port side and as such it listed to starboard, so hopefully certain things will exert force of a ship causing it to move. As for the submarine discussion, I remember they were testing a DSRV off the coast of Portsmouth once, at the time it was unmanned for obvious reasons but it was still pressurized. Long story short, there was a weakness in the hull and as the sub descended to critical depth that portion of the hull was blaste
(I have to post again because the edit function has disappeared) I just noticed that Sir on the Edge pointed out a problem with the mass of the frigate sized starships, I would have to agree. The way its presented just doesn't seem right, wouldn't it be easier to say 1000 metric tons rather than 0.001 million metric tons?
Very nice, I like the amount of depth that has been added to the game through things such as the ship intelligence center and spy function. The graphics also look subtely better than Dread Lords which is really saying something. Roll on February!
The graphics look absolutely amazing! Bioware are the King of RPG's so this is gonna be great!
Sins of a solar empire due in 2007 and being published by Stardock looks set to deliver what you want as well, if you can wait that is.
I quite like the whole "Pulses" thing they got going on, I'm not a fan of beams (unless they're done like in the Nexus 2 tech demo or used like a superweapons a la Freespace 2). Missiles are cool also, one thing that always gets me with beams, is, unless they're really hot, they should cause gigantic explosions when they hit something, they should just boil away at the hull.
Well, moving back to the original point of this thread (lets see if we can't save it eh?) Yes, I would go into space... If there are aliens out there we should definitely throw out all the games like "Space Invaders" where we massacre a bunch of aliens or risk them finding them. How we should proceed is a tough one, it is unanimously agreed that weapons should be kept down here and not taken into space (so no Sins type future for us). I think colonisation of
Awesome, I really like the way the graphics have come along, HA! Eat humble pie those who said the graphics were sub par.
Galciv2 deserves all the praise plus a bag of chips. Damn, did that sound like I was kissing a**. But really, congrats guys, you deserve it.
Could be a cool new technology, HyperGates allowing instaneous or at least extremely fast travel between two planets with them built as an improvement. They could follow the propulsion arm of the tech tree, from Impulse based gates to WarpGates.
Small and large have there own pros and cons. I, like you, normally play on large because of the vast amounts of planets and resources can mean huge battlefleets. But every so often I play on small for ferocious dog fights over what few planets there are.
That was for the PC version, which does suck.
It has, the reviews for Official Xbox magazine and game informer are generally around the 8 out of 10 mark
The ship models were excellent and I know how hard animation is so bravo!!!
Aye, I'm probably fretting over nothing because of all this hype, I am so psyched for this game and it can really throw you when all this negativity starts flooding in all at once!
Upon further inspection, while the gameplay may not be a problem, it seems PC games have got the short end of the stick with the game only being ported to PC as an afterthought since the graphics and controls seem subpar. That said I'm saying all this second hand and what may not work for somebody else may work for me. There's no denying the graphical issue though, even on the highest end machines they don't seem to compare with the 360 in terms of lighting and general textures
I've read some truly stinging reviews of Star Trek: Legacy. I live in the UK so won't get it until the 22nd, anyone here from the States or anywhere else that has it, what's actually wrong with it, most of the community reviews on Gamespot just say how disappointing it is without going into any real detail.
Thanks for the positive feedback I really appreciate it. I was on a small galaxy with tight clusters and abundant habitable planets. I played on normal with only seven races (myself included). The game (in reality time) took a weekend to complete (not straight playing, I took breaks to, you know, eat). Total time about 9 hours, I wasn't intending to turn it into an AAR so I didn't take many notes or screens which is probably why the story was so short. Anywho, thanks again glad
Gal Civ II Nominated for GameSpy Game of the Year Awards! Damn right too!
Yeah, Serenity is a cargo ship, so obviously it would never make a fleet of warships.
Serenity....ugly?!?! Granted she's winning no beauty contests but she flies with a gracefullness you don't see from the Millenium Falcon. One the flipside the Falcon does have weapons, but when you've got Jayne and "Vera" who needs laser cannons?
The Interstellar Federation, a brief history The Interstellar Federation is a close-knit and powerful coalition of worlds, the founding race of which was the Atlasians, so it was only fitting that InterFed’s home planet be Atlas. The Atlasians themselves were a mystery. In the post-HyperDrive galaxy attention was focused on the question, why do the Altarians look so much like the humans? In all the hubbub, the Galaxy forgot that the Atlasians also looked exactly like the humans,
Well, this certainly gives insight into the game post Dark Avatar. Imagine being on the wrong end of a "Titan"! Anyway, very nice story, the way you tell it shows pure enthusiasm, which is what kept me hooked from start to cliffhanger, hope you find time to do the rest, and upload some screens!
