Hi! Very long ago I already proposed to remove scoring from GC. Because scoring promotes competition, and quite usually playing a score game for fun devolves into playing score sistem for more points. What we now have here is just the last stage of this: the last die-hards arguing about something no one else cares about. Gentlebeings, you're throwing around big words and accusations for a long-dead
At best this topic is a discussion of whether or not it was wrong for Mumble (or anyone) to spy on private forums...That is a topic I have already given my opinion on. At worst it is an attack on Mumble...though I must admit, as Mumble felt the need to call out cheaters in his previously mentioned post, should we not also call out those who are cheating our trust?
Look. I don't really mind being called out in this post. I do think things could have been handled better (a lot bet
For what it's worth, Mumble, in my experience KP is generally a reasonable man, and had you come to him privately, rather than attempting to say something publicly via the ZYW thread, I imagine this situation would have never arisen. I am aware that for some time you were not aware of exactly how it was done, nor exactly what effect there was ingame, despite allegations to the contrary. If you had actually done so, and made clear that you did not understand exactly what was

You angered kzinti with what you did, he called you out. Although he made the mistake of posting this in the first place, with every
I hate to get involved, but again Mumble, you are attacking real people with your statements.
*I'm* attacking people? Sure. Nothing I like better than ganging up on a bunch of other folks and berating them for no apparent reason. I figure me against 5 or 6 other people is just about even odds, given the caliber of the 5 or 6. Did I create a thread where I denounced the entire Kzinti Empire as an empire of cheaters? No. Did I resurrect the Spacet
An interesting rhetorical flourish, but ultimately facetious. At the point at which Kryo (or another creator of the game) says that a particular exploit or strategy is not MV legal, the opinion of the average player loses much of it's relevance on that specific issue (in my opinion). Whatever you, or I, or other player think on the matter, is superseded by Kryo's statement. I believe that it is the right thing to do for those who wish to play on the MV to accept that determination by K
But all of this is off topic. You could not cajole, intimidate or publicly reveal information about Maiden's games to get what you wanted. So, you illicitly eavesdropped on private conversations of the Kzinti only to find things you already knew. And then cried cheat.
Not quite true, not that it matters much one way or the other. I actually did figure out that the key parameter was AIPersonality instead what I initially thought it to be which was RaceID or CivType. However after

Speaking of honesty I think that Stardock also bears at least some responsibility for things getting to this state of affairs. When the concept of ARC was first discussed it was brought up in what I consider to be a mature and responsible way. There were certainly folks on both sides of the opinion but both sides were at least willing to consider the other sides point of view and in fact I think we all took great effort to bring these things to Stardock's attention and to point out wh
Immediately upon hearing the response from Kryo yesterday, I advised members of the Kzinti that the DL exploit will no longer be used for MV games within the empire. If you had first come to me (or anyone in the Kzinti) and said simply, "Kryo said this is not MV legal", that would have been the end of this exploit for MV games. You did not even try to do this.
Interesting. Except that I did in fact try to bring up this discussion and was totally stonewalled first in private PM's

Ah. Out come the sock puppets. Do not, by the way, expect me to believe that the ToE was NOT using the "3" long before it was generally revealed to the res
If you consider this cheating, as you say, then the Swindle all-diplomacy strategy, which Purge created and you helped develop and strongly promulgated, should also be considered cheating, for it too gives the AIs absolutely zero chance to win the game...they are both all about nothing more than points-grinding, when the game is already won long before. Hah. This from someone that is in fact nothing but a cheater. The way that Maiden and KzintiPatriarch and the Kzinti Empire has bested all others is a simple matter of "hands-down 100% cheating, no doubt about it." The above is a quote from Kryo who is aware of the situation as is Cari. Whether or not anything will ever be done about it is uncertain. After all GalCiv2 is pretty much end of life and to spend money, time and effort to eliminate cheating in what is after all a si

I used to say the same thing 2 years ago. Now if you eliminated the Off-topic forum there would hardly be anything left. However now that Bara has implemented the "bubble up" feature you can sort of do this yourself. If you go into "My Account" and click on the "Options" tab you'll see the "Flatten Forum Categories" 2nd from the top. Click this and then when you monitor a specific forum you will also see any threads from any subforums. This is not a perfect soluti

Your economy score is simply the accumulated total of all income earned each turn over the course of the game divided in some manner by the turn number squared. What you're looking at is average net income which is income earned minus expenses averaged over the course of the game. Clearly these are two different things. Basically what you spend your money on doesn't count for your economy score, if perhaps you buy ships with your cash then that money can be used to increa
Anyone else got views?
There are so many ways to play the game that it's really tough to define just a single set of "standard" settings. There are folks that prefer to play shorter games and these folks tend to play ZYW's (zero year wins) and there are very specific strategies along with a couple of different types of settings one would use dependent on which strategy or style one was using. Another set of people tend to just go for monster scores and then
