You sure about that? By the description of ASC I'd say it shouldn't, but strange are the ways of developers. If you're sure, I'd add that to the wiki. Oh BTW, what game version, where it works?
This is DA v2.01 and the ASC definitely increases production derived from research focus. Perhaps it's due to the "hard coded" nature of the ASC bonus? Also the ASC bonus doesn't appear in the abilities tab of your civ manager, plus if I recall correctly the ASC essentially i
Mumblefratz, hasn't it be the very YOU, who reported having a planet with 20k research output.
With a single planet my best was 11K if I recall correctly. Actually I think it was Fuels Chief that hit the 20K mark and I think DethAdder hit something in between those two figures. There's a post by DethAdder here somewhere about the topic and I think at that time my best was only 8K but as you say you're really dependent on the luck of how many research resources the galaxy
You can simply copy the *.customracexml files to another directory and then delete them. I actually have a couple of different "stock" configurations and any time I create a new set all I do is to zip up all the customracexml's files along with the particular prefs.ini file that select them and save them somewhere else and then I can restore a previously zipped up config and off I go. By including the prefs.ini file you don't even have to select the new set of opponents, all your previous gam
Are you speaking of DL or DA, when you relate how you have done it?
Both, although the timeline is slower in DL than in DA. One thing to do is to exclude races with inherent diplomacy abilities which are the Drath at 30%, the Terrans at 25% and the Krynn at 25%. It seems (to me anyway) that the Terrans have some kind of "extra" diplomatic ability even over and above the Super Diplomat Super Ability so I always exclude the Drath and the Terrans. Also you clearly don't wan
Good question. Basically Hyper Computers or Nano Recorders or research resource mining are all the same since they're all just sources of global research bonus. I suspect that they probably do. I do know that your global sources of manufacturing bonus increase military production derived from research focus so getting your global research bonus on research derived from manufacturing focus would be analogous. Less clear would be things that give a per planet research bonus like researc
In DA, at Suicidal, I have been unable to get to SCC, to research and build ships with enough power, and then get them into orbiting the SCC planet all quick enough to make the AIs "cower." When I have tried that, I have either gone bankrupt or been attacked before I could get there.
Well it all kind of falls together. Getting the SCC requires a trip up the Diplomacy branch of the tech tree which is a benefit in and of itself when it comes to tech trading. Also tech trading can
something is definitely wrong with twilghts ai....
I haven't played TA (other than a test run to make sure my installation works) so I don't really know much about it. I do recall a problem where the AI wouldn't send out colony ships mid game into areas of other peoples influence because it was assumed they would simply flip. I thought that was in TA but I also thought that had been addressed. Seems you're having the opposite problem though. As I said I have no r
I only play DA Suicidal, and my style is most often to stay out of wars as long as I can. Thus, an early game warship is of low value to me since, if I am in a war then, I have failed at the strategic level.
It really does depend on what you're doing. I go the heavy diplomacy combined with SCC route so that everyone in the galaxy essentially cowers in my presence. Using an armed survey ship to knock a major or minor off a resource I want *now* is no big deal. If anyth
Re: the miner - why March 1st?
Beacuse in DA at least (unless you choose Super Diplomat as your Super Ability) you can't talk to the AI's until March 1st so that's the first chance you could trade for their miners.
"Vanilla" DL doesn't have miners.
Correct.
Does it have psionic beams?
Most definitely does. Psionic beams are one of the biggest reasons to go evil after of course being able to build the Mind Control Center which in DA an
easier said than done with vista
I'm still with XP and currently feel no need to upgrade. There's nothing about Vista that I've heard that makes me think I'm missing anything. Win 7 seems like it may not be all that bad but who knows perhaps I'll make it to Win 8 before being forced to change. I can understand not wanting to go back and forth however it seems a little strange not to be able to manage my own start menu, but then I'm kind of a throwback having grown up fro
Anyone made a survey ship out of a cargo hauler yet? Do hitpoint anomaly upgrades work on them?
As LTjim says.
ALL my survey ships are cargo holds, other than the flagship one starts with.
However I don't agree that the hit point bonuses that your cargo hull survey ships get are worthless or even approximately so. Once you get even one of these anomalies and get the cargo hull up to 5 hp it becomes a viable attack ship particularly in the early par
In DA and TA you can explicitly declare war on an AI. In DL you can't directly declare war on someone however you can offer to attack one AI (or a minor) to another AI or minor for free and the end result is that you will be in a state of war with the AI you offered to attack without having to actually have physical contact with the particular AI although you do have to have met them. This can be a very useful feature however there are restrictions. For one you cannot offer to attack
and concerning research trade, i had to turn all tech trading and brokering off.
That's the way I started out as well. I always felt that I was being shortchanged in pretty much every transaction and so I simply disabled it so that the AI's couldn't trade among themselves. However by doing this you are definitely limiting yourself more than the AI. For one thing you should research diplomacy and never trade any techs that give a diplomatic bonus. If you can get the Galac
We are talking about the 'target' command line in the shortcut properties menu
Yes that's correct.
i am unable to remove the quotes from the command line.
It sounds like you are logged on as a guest or are otherwise restricted from editing the Start Menu. That would explain your difficulty. Can you log onto your machine as Administrator?
Also, I never knew that the AI got extra production turns when you load a game. How did you find that out?
As far as I know it's been like that for a dog's age. They may have fixed this in some Rev or other but like I said it's really not all that big a deal. The AI's don't get any more cash than the human does. Even at Suicidal where they will in fact get more income simply because they have an econ bonus they don't get any extra starting cash. So the worst case is that the AI
Normally the shortcut created when the game is installed is to an intermediate "launcher" program. The problem is that cheat mode cannot be applied to the launcher. You have to create a new shortcut directly to the game executable and add the word "cheat" after that.
If you instantly upgrade your space miner into a standard colony ship like many do, it has a starting population of 100 million.
I've never seen this happen and I do it all the time. Your starting colony ship starts with a pop of 100M but I've never seen the upgrade of your space miner occur to anything but 1M. As far as I know if you upgrade *any* non pop carrying ship (i.e. any ship without either a colony module or a troop transport module) into *any* pop carryin
Ships gain hit points based on taking damage but surviving battles. An "experienced" medium hull ship can sometimes get into the 100+ hit point range. You can accelerate this process by using upgrade to repair ships. You need to create two differently named but otherwise identical ships. Like Fighter A and Fighter B. Then when a ship of one type takes some damage you can take it out of the fleet leaving it in the same sector so the fleet will protect the ship and then upgrade from F
Is it perhaps a planet that requires one of the extreme colonization techs that you may not have? That would explain it.
Does a colonist have to "take one for the team" and sacrifice himself to upgrade a colony ship to a constructor?
Yes. You have to launch with a minimum of 1 colonist which represents 1M of population. Conversely if you had a constructor and upgraded it to a colony ship that new colony ship would also have 1 colonist on it even though when the constructor was created and launched it did not subtract 1M from the planets pop. This results in 1M of pop from nothing. However
I don't know anything specific about where UE puts things or how it works but the first thing you need to do is to figure out whether you're calling the executable directly or whether you use an intermediate launcher program like what's used in the more "normal" configuration of the game plus expansions. Just navigate the Start Menu to where you usually launch the game, however instead of left clicking to start the game right click to bring up a menu, at the bottom of which should be
You'll need to contact to see if that is possible as there is no normal mechanism to do so.
If that fails you can contact KarmaGirl via PM as per reply #6 in the Is there a way to delete your account? thread. If that fails then you're only recourse is to suggest to Brad that he doesn't pay enough in taxes, if that won't accomplish it then nothing will.
But Mumblefratz (or others) try to prove me wrong. I mean, just start a game with a full 9 DL setup - and then try to make the most of it by going all-lab and tech-brokering their money to you, then invest this money as good as you can. And then see, where it will take you - believe me, nowhere near my scores.
