Hi Hozy, we are talking solar systems in the game, right? ;) 1) Don't crush my kneecaps if I'm wrong on this one, but I believe it's 7-8 that is the max. Normally there are no more than 2, max 3 planet, in a large solar system, that is habitable. 2) No - not that makes any difference in game mechanics. Hope it helps /Flemming 3) No, no visible moons that affect gameplay in any way. ~SDC~
Razgon
Nope - sorry, they are brutally designed from the start, even the good races ;) perhaps an idea for galciv 1.x? /Flemming
Asmodean, about the Moo'ing - nope - I Actually havent managed to make a simple win yet :( dunno why really, but most of the times I've stopped a game, is because of stuff missing after re-loading a game. I've lost ships and other stuff seems to have been reset from time to time after reloading, causing me to yell and pull my hair out :) oh well, we are all waiting for the patch :) how about you?? managed to win yet?? /Flemming ~SDC~
well, I actually kinda hope that the majority of the Moo3 fans that are active over on the Moo3 board, doesnt head this way. or if they do, that they undergo a radically change of perception of what can and what cannot be written on the net :) But yes, Galciv can hold under pressure /Flemming ~SDC~
#41 Emergence of new piece of art(Book/scultpture/soundcrystals whatever) in the empire shifts the entire empire towards evil or good, and has influence of empires in the affected empires sphere of influence, shifting those as well. (Rather powerfull book) #42 emergence of new radical politacal party, stealing votes for the next election #43 Depression hits the empire, influences both economy AND MORALE, also affects trade and influence. #44 Captain Jea
there should be a dos emulator for winxp try searching over at the moo3 forums for Winxp and moo, in the "pre-release forums" I've seen it, /Flemming ~SDC~
Try the Encyclopedia button at the top of the screen there you will find the manual :) Have fun with the game! /Flemming ~SDC~
for me, reply button puts me at the bottom of the post, enabling me to "reply" to that post. ~SDC~
testing... ~SDC~
Actually, Brad(Developer) has written a very nice, ehm Thesis almost, on this subject, which can be found here: http://www.galciv.com/docs/criticalmass.html As one who has played this game a lot, I can say no to your question, not anywhere near like in other games, like Civ2. I think you will find that the Galciv team are gamers like yourself, and thinks perhaps more like a gamer than a developer normally would :) /Flemming
To change your email, you got to contact [email protected] with your old and new contact info to have your record updated. have fun, /Flemming
I agree - the game is very fun. The space combat is somewhat strange the first time you try it, more like an arcade game than a space flight sim, but very fun nonetheless. I bought it because the game sounded a lot like the old Elite game on c64 which I absolutely loved. damn, I just revealed just HOW old I am, didnt I? oh well :) /Flemming
StarDock Central will incorporate some new forum features :) Amongst these are tracking of posts. /Flemming
I echo Arras_at_Home's and Midnight_louise's sentiments complety... I want to help out in ANY way I can with something akin to Master of Magic, which, after Moo and Galciv is the game I've spent the most time playing :) No funding for those games yet, eh? hmm - I just had a crazy idea (not the first, and not the last I'll have is my guess). Make a PayPal button on the site, with people being able to donate money to Elemental's development :) I'd be the first to donate 10 buc
eh - promotion?? wow - niiiiice :) Thanks to the powers above :) /Flemming
Elemental and Mobilization??? whats that :) hmm, let me guess, Elemental is a fantasy game, where two wizards strive for dominion by summoning... ELEMENTALS?? Mobilization is a game of skill and speed, a twoplayer game where each side has to mobilize his forces as quickly as possible against the other opponnent :) let me know if I guess correctly, hehe /Flemming
Hi Lifewish, welcome to the game :) I couldnt agree with your observations about the board and the developers - very nice and clean, both of them ;) /Flemming
Take a look at this : http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=18276
Hmm, kinda like in Titan A.E.? A ship designed with the brute force neccassery to remake an entire planet into a gaia type for that race??? /Flemming
Fleets are only there to enable you to quickly move your ships - there are no combat bonusses. Flanking, suprise and the like does no difference here :) /Flemming
oh well, it's good to be the joker of the year then :) /Flemming
uh-oh, I can feel an upcoming PC Vs MAC conflict ;) they could go for Linux, instead of MS WIN - say, does Galciv run on Linux? I heard Unreal 2 ran without a hitch, and that Moo3 runs with an win emulator on linux - nice move actually.
whoops, what I meant - sorry 'bout the confusion :)
Hi Gzzrt, About the title of the game Galactic Civilizations, is what it is because of it's predecessor, Galactic Civilizations, which was a Mac game, featuring multi-threading as one of the first games. That said, it's not far off saying it's Civilizations in space, only it's so much more :) Basically, it's about empire building, and as you said yourself, there are multiple approaches to victory :) The Multiverse is great, but will be even better than it is now. The cr
hehe, now this should be "Documented, undocumented stuff" LOL btw, a "Sticky" thread at the top of the forum with a FAQ would be good :) If the thread I think it is is still here somewhere, I can see if I can find it and "Bump" it? /Flemming
