LeTharq, as for exploitation possibilites, the game was made specifically so that it could be easily modded, hence the big use of spreadsheet files. Also, I really don't think Galciv needs anything from Moo3, them being two compeletely different games and with different approaches to empire governing. You will see exactly what I mean, when you try it(galciv) :) /Flemming
Razgon
I think he means more like without military and combat, conquering worlds, than without colonizers :) And that is possible, to win a game without going to war is, theoritcally possible, although it's pretty difficult with all the different races that exists. /Flemming
Actually, I think their biggest mistake is in calling it Moo3! If it went by any other scifi type name, people wouldn't respond to badly to it, i.e. compare it to moo and moo2. just my two cents (for now) /Flemming
"Unless QS fixes the graphics in MOO3, and screens" Thats not very realistic, if you think they will make a patch to change the graphics and screens? The screens are basically the game itself. IMO the issues with galciv isnt graphics, but intuitivity. It's like you said, Betamann, one sits looking at the Moo3 screens, and doenst know what to do next, because it feels like you are not in control. I tried it briefly last night (1 hour) and after going through the "ma
I have the strangest notion, that this is the result of scrapping the game they had back 1½ year ago, on the reasons that it was too complex, and to much a galaxy simulation without human interaction. From there on, they've had to practically from scrath make the game, meaning that instead of 4 years of production, they only had 1½? any thoughts on this one? /Flemming
Congratulations!!! Kudos for a job well done :)
Does anyone know how long it takes for swedish mail to reach other nordic countries?? My copy was shipped yesterday, and would LOVE to play this weekend :)
Midnight Louie, I look forward to it ;) /Flemming
Nisarg Kothari, Sure, but will they make the choices that you make in the game? Is it that "Kind" of evil? damn I use " a lot ;) /Flemming
Elrikk, ehm, I think there is a distinct difference between the "Evil" we see in the gamworld, and the "Evil" that exists in real life. I agree with your statement about RealLife(tm) "Evil", but in game terminology it is something totally different. If you have acces to it, take a look at the events leading to evil empires, what choices you have to make. (i.e. kill of billions to make a profit on a plague?, destroy the native life on a planet, because you feel you need to room? k
XenoArch, I disagree - there is more to the moral choices you make than mere propaganda can cure (Kill billions of citizens, to make a profit of their wounds??) Its a question of the entire society being totally throughout evil, and accepting it as I see it. Either that, or a totalitarian regime, led by evil elitist of some sort. /Flemming
It's probably to late to implement in Galciv 1.x though unfortunately :( But that doesnt mean we can't discuss it, or bring it to Brad and the rest of the Galciv teams attention :) /Flemming ps - Asmodean - I'll be getting my Moo3 copy soon, if you wanted to MultiPlay?
Actually, I can see where Rolandthemad is heading... How can evil empires have democracies, when most of the "evil" choices are based around either the removal of freedom of the induvidual, or wholesale slaugther of aliens? Perhaps an idea for Galciv 2.0? Evil vs Good reflets on choices of governments as well? /Flemming
lol - can't even use proper grammar anymore :) What I meant to stupilate, was that my Moo3 arrives tomorrow, in case anyone wondered LOL
ahh - can't wait till tomorrow!!! My MOO3 gets arrives ;)
The 0.9.034 is a Gamma version of Galciv, and NOT the beta :)
Midnight Louie, hmm, that could be it - I didn't really pay attention to any prices for invasion I must admit. Arturus Magi, that doesnt explain the loss of 3000 BC though :)
After invading a YOR world, with the Mini-soldiers tactic, I noticed I had "No Resources" while trying to build stuff. Before invading the planet, I had about 600 BC and a surplus of 11 each month, and after, I had -2500. So, basically, I invaded their bad economy? Cool feature, kinda like unwanted inheritance with debt LOL /Flemming Madsen
doh - I can't make the darn link :(

Hi, you'r "A game of GalCiv in action..." (http://www.galciv.com/encyclopedia.asp?action=showpage&page=http://www.galciv.com/docs/gameexample.html) does not seem to work :-) /Flemming
Nice one, exactly what we needed. I noticed the reference to a specific starbase - does this mean that building Cultural Starbases in the middle of Alien Empires territory, bombarding the populace with Cultural influence, now gets a reaction from the AI?
DOH Lol - thanks Midnight Louie :)
Admiral Nakor wrote: "There's no receptionist. Kim handles Sales with an iron fist." eh, was that an answer to me? ;) /Flemming
Quote from Frogboy: "I made it up. The universe that galciv exists in has been something I've been working on for decades" Ever considered doing something more with it? Expanding into other areas, or let others play with it? From the perspective of a rpg designer, this gives me some very interesting thoughts and ideas. But then again, whenever I see a great thing, I can't help thinking about licenses, rpg versions or Trading Collectible Card Game version :) /Fl
