Since you have Windows XP, click on Start->Run, and then type dxdiag where it says "Open:" and press enter. This will bring up the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. There, you can click on the "Display" tab to get info about your video card (Chip type, memory, etc...)
If you installed via Impulse, the manual is located where the game is installed: "Program Files\Stardock Games\The Political Machine 2008\PM2008Manual.pdf". But yeah, the "Read Manual" button should pull up the file for you. Mullin, can you verify that the file DOES exist on your pc by doing a search for the file "PM2008Manual.pdf"? Let us know if it DOES NOT exist. Also, it may be helpful for us to know if you have your games being installed somewhere besides "C:/Progr
If you choose the "download + box" option, you get access to download the game now, plus you get mailed a retail box of the game (which has the game on a cd, etc... - like you would get if you went to a store and bought it).
Go Lions
haha.
the game won't even allow me to tap on the tabs on the side
What do you mean?
it is stuck in windowed mode.
if you are unable to turn on Full Screen mode via the options screen, you can change your preferences via the file that we write your settings out to. It's called "prefs.ini" and is located here: "my documents/my games/PolMachine2008/". You can open it with notepad and change "Fullscreen=0" to "Fullscreen=1".
yeah, it gets installed as a .pdf with the game. It's called "PM2008Manual.pdf" and is located here "Stardock Games/The Political Machine 2008/"
It means online multiplayer.
Yodelingdog, You're not going to win much Stardock support for this thread with your anti-red wings pictures and comments. Our office is in Michigan (home of the Red Wings). By the way, the coach you have pictured there (Scotty Bowman) coached the wings to 3 Stanley Cups. And he's still involved in the organization. The wings may have a different coach now, but they won the Cup again this year. This included sweeping Colorado in the 2nd round. Go Avs indee
The next time this happens, go to this location on your computer: "My Documents\My Games\PolMachine2008\Debug.err". Open the Debug.err file, (with notepad), and post the contents of it here so we can hopefully see what is happening. Thanks, C
we'd like to know what's wrong whether you want and get your refund or not.
Yeah, so we can fix it. :CONGRAT:
On the "My Games" tab of Impulse, you should see games that you have registration codes for. The games that you have already downloaded will say "Installed" or sometimes "Update Available", and the ones that you can download will say "Available". If you right-click on a game that says "Available" you should be able to select Install. You can also just select the game and press the "Install" button (which is in the lower right-hand corner). If this doesn't solve y
i just want that one game, and get it to work.
If you post the contents of your debug.err we can see what your setup is, and also get important game messages that may lead us to a fix for your problems. The "debug.err" file will be located here: "\My Games\PolMachine2008\Debug.err" Thanks, C
Yeah, sorry about the delay in getting the box at your doorstep. You can download the game in the meantime though, via Impulse .
Polyphemus-uk, Could you repost your debug.err file now that you've gotten updated drivers? Be sure to get the contents of the debug.err file right after it crashes, because that file is overwritten each time the game is started. Thanks, C
Maybe someone should start a thread (hint, hint, nudge nudge) that is similar to a poll where people are asked whether or not they'd like to see the Map Editor become available in a future update. If there is enough demand, we could probably convince the boss to let us put it in. It's kind of un-polished right now, so he'd have to allocate some dev time so we can clean it up a bit first.
all we keep being told is to update drivers and turn things off
For a lot of users, these steps fix their problems. If it does not for you, then we investigate further to see how we can fix it. We do want you to be able to play our game. Really.
I just ordered the digital version, but it did not install on my computer. [...]Perhaps it's on my computer but I just don't see it.
Kaeman, You should get an email soon (if you haven't already) that tells you how to obtain the game. Basically it'll tell you to download Impulse and you'll be able to instantly get the game downloaded and updated, plus access to all updates from that point forward. The game should
So for those of you that don't know, I work at Stardock, on the game team. On July 19th, I will have been here for 2 years. So far, I've worked on GC2 Dark Avatar, GC2 Twilight of the Arnor, Political Machine 2008, and our unannounced fantasy TBS game. Our team is pretty small, but I'm neither the newest game developer, nor one of the more senior ones. I guess I'm somewhat of the middle child. Anyway, while working on PM2008, I had complained that
You have Corporate Machine and Political Machine, but not Political Machine 2008!?!? What's up with that? lol. Nice list though.
What the hell, this is an easy game, it is an easy game to program and put together.
You were not here in the office when we were all pulling overtime for months trying to finish this game, so please DO NOT make assumptions about our jobs and how easy they are.
i have to download some Stardock Central just so i can use these forums
You don't have to download Stardock Central just to use the forums. The forums can be used by anyone simp
The map editor is not hooked up. So even though you might have seen the graphics pack for the screen, there is no way currently to access it.
Can you edit these files and still play multiplayer?
No. Although, (if I remember correctly) I think we do allow it if the person you are playing against has the same version of the files.
but mostly I played some "real" games with my friends: Poker, Euchre
Euchre is awesome! Whenever my wife and I have a couple friends over we always try to get a game going.
Well here is a cheap one for $24.99 that will work.
