From my POV, the Empire of Standards is about comparing goals and tactics amongst players with different interests in GCII, with a secondary goal of building a "respectable" pile of scores from which to hurl mockery at the big empires atop the scoring charts. Yeah, that's the general gist of it. Now if I could just post a WIN, ahem, maybe our numbers will start to move... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Laugh.gif" border=0 align="ab
In my opinion this will greatly help us. Not the slave part, but the growing of organs part. This could safe thousands of lives of those needing human organ donations. And instead of waiting for some human being to die, they could just get pig-human organs instead and be perfectly fine. Yes, but don't forget that in our society as it is today it would probably only benefit the rich and powerful. Sorry, just my anti-capitalist views shining through!
I thought that the treasury-gain despite 100% spending was a bug until I read the forums. So by "fudging" with the gameplay with the goal to make it easier the game became confusing. That's basically the message I'm trying to put through. Yeah, can you imagine what the players who don't check this forum are going through with regards to figuring out this game! Thank God I took the time to come here when I first started playing/having issues, oth
My naming conventions are similar to those above but sometimes I deviate from the norm and use names from movies/literature, like the Pequod, Corsair, Serenity, etc. Other times I just throw one on like AC Warhawk or BC Terminator. I guess it just depends on my mood. Then there's always the typical names like the Quest and Endeavor. Sometimes they're corny, sometimes they're cool. I actually find it odd that some players have a hard time 'naming' their ships. <img src="http://images.stardock.co
what did we lose? i can't remember disliking any of the changes i observed. Ahem, stock markets... Anyone remember those bad boys?
well I was not actually complaining Easy there champ! No need to get angry, it just is a flawed event IMO. Please forgive my rant... I wasn't aiming towards anyone nor was I implying either one of you was complaining or giving bad input or anything... I just went off a little. You guys have to remember that for me,
It might make the game "easier" since you don't worry about the sliders, but in the end I'd be surprised if it is actually more powerful than building labs. I'll have to let you know how it works out once I finish my current game. True, I am behind in the techs, that I agree with so far. I still find myself constantly checking the 'sliders' so as far as making the game easier, not in my case, not with my play style. It just 'seems' to be an efficient, a
Has anyone ever left the UP? If so, what actually happens? Oh, and they really do enforce their resolutions? I don't know... I had the 'protected freighters' resolution come up and it was agreed upon, but yet any civ at war with me still seemed to be able to follow my trade vessels and blow the crap out of them at will without repercussions... is that normal? Or how about the penalty for being at war resolution? It strikes me as odd that if someone declares war on me, I am hit with the penalty
but I'm all for leaving it alone. Yes, please for the love of God, leave things be. All of us come up with some pretty good ideas from time to time, and yes, I know the devs use our ideas and feedback in their work but come on, enough is enough. We can all remember certain things being 'nerfed' now can't we? Bitch and whine long enough and we might see a bunch of updates that basically detract from the experience. I don't want that, do you? Look at this
One downside is that when you have so many factories, after you complete a social improvement research (a building upgrade, etc), all the planets will start upgrading at the same time, suddenly soaking up a vast amount of credits Yes, I realized this the hard way when I forgot to use the governor screen to turn off auto upgrade... ouch! And in my first reply I meant to say starport, not starbase. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles
. Ground combat is just a by-product. I have to strongly disagree with that. Ground combat is pretty much your ONLY method to win the game if you are going for a conquest victory, isn't it? I mean, to say that ground combat is a by-product of something bigger, well, that's just insane. Maybe you meant from a 'graphics' standpoint? Besides, I doubt you could play an entire game through without invading a single planet, could you? I know I can't, reg
No longer conquering worlds was just about sending transports with people on them, you would have to recruit and send military troops. Yes, this would have been a very welcome change to the game. Make the artificial slave center more 'functional' so to speak... or add builds that will make/train a standing invasion force. It might add some micromanagement, but it would definitely change the game for the better. Like a lot of people have said, I wouldn'
Can someone verify this data? I can't verify your data with the numbers (I'm not the best when it comes to things like that) but I can say that using the 'guide' that Iztok gave with regards to setting your sliders, I've found that my planets, and my economy, seem to do just fine if I build nothing but factories. The research seems to pan out pretty much the way you said with regards to a factory producing research. This is the first game I've played wh
Call me a cheater, but I want to *enjoy* the game. Ahhh yes, it all comes down to 'enjoyment of the game', something the Empire of Standards clearly 'stands' for! Place shameless plug for empire in blank space above...
, the Thalans may "come out ahead" as you put it because of their Super Ability. I have the super abilities turned off for just such reason. Like I said, it's just strange. I'm probably overlooking something with regards to my economy, especially since I'm trying 'new' strategies just to see how the numbers crunch. I'd love to know what Brad's formula was when devising the base code for the economy sliders... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_
for good puntucation, And you lost a few points, eh?
I'm no master at this game but I noticed the 'issue' regarding normal diff as well. The computer, mainly the Thalans, seem to out colonize me every step of the way unless I utilize a specific tactic or two. This keeps me ahead of them but for some reason they still seem to be farther ahead of me on every level, economy, military, and research. Since I have tech trading off I find it hard to believe that they are 'efficient' enough on normal to literally double or even triple my numbers with reg
I take them ALL! There's no such thing as wasted real estate in my games and besides that, they make the perfect little stocking stuffers if you're feeling 'generous'.
You should be fine with what you have. Make sure you have your virtual memory set to at least 2048mb though if it isn't already. As far as your card, I don't know the specs. NVIDIA all the way here!
And the game looks _outstanding_... Glad you solved it!
But.. man.. I mean There are just no words to say it, are there?
Magpie6 I have to agree with the two popular votes in here... you are weird. But whatever floats your boat right?
Don't underestimate creativity either. Have you actually noticed what this ability does/gives you? I used to pick it all the time for my custom race in DL (haven't used it yet in DA)but I never noticed anything 'special' happening because of it.
) When I get close or friendly relations with someone I can pretty much ignore them until I am ready to invade them. I like the ideas... well thought out, however, I fail to see how your quoted statement above can be so. Playing on Normal diff my relations need constant attention, and I mean constant. I've seen a 'friendly' civ turn cool and then hostile within 10 to 12 turns, period. Even the Thalans, who were on the receiving end of many goodies from
